About The Bodega

The world-famous Bodega / / A Bar, a Music Venue and Nightclub in Nottingham, UK.

The Bodega Description

Universally regarded by locals and students alike as one of the best places to hang out, party and listen to live music in Nottingham - the Bodega is a must visit venue that has been at the very forefront of the midlands music scene over the past two decades. With a multitude of awards under it's belt including Best Medium Bar at the Best Bar None awards 2011, the Bodega holds it's own as a great all rounder whilst having cemented itself a reputation for bringing world class stadium and festival-headlining talent to audiences before they made it big.

Previous guests include (to name but a few. . . ):

Anna Calvi, Arctic Monkeys, Avi Buffalo, Bloc party, Bright Eyes, Caribou, Coldplay, The Correspondents, Darwin Deez, Dog is Dead, Duffy, Editors, Everything Everything, Feist, Florence and the Machine, DJ Format, Franz, Ferdinand, Glavegas, Har Mar Superstar, Hard Fi, Imelda May, Jack Penate, Jehst, The Joy Formidable, Jose Gonzalez, Kate Nash, Klaxons, The Kooks, Late of the Pier, The Libertines, Lovvers, Marina and the, Diamonds, Metronomy, MGMT, Mona, Mumford and Sons, Mystery Jets, The National, Noah and the Whale, Noisettes, Silversun Pickups, Scissor Sisters, Snow Patrol, The Strokes, Submotion Orchestra, Supergrass, The Ting Tings, Trail of Dead, Two Door Cinema Club, The View, The Vines, Viva Brother, The White Stripes, White Lies, Wild Beasts, The XX, Yuck.

As well as being an epicentre of the live band scene we have played (and still play) host to some of the city's most notorious and revered club nights - The Pop Confessional, Liar's Club, Sounddhism, Itchy Feet, Lost Boyz Club, Highness Soundsystem, Electric Banana and Barefootin for starters - and are the go to spot in Nottingham for listening to new music in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Our uber resident DJ The Reverend Car Bootleg is a legend in his own right and in actual fact knows more about music than John Peel and Spotify combined.

It's also the first choice for big bands looking for a place to hold their after parties (maybe because many have played here! ) and so there's been a few very famous faces here over the years, with the kinds of tales that would ensue with them letting loose after a big show. We won't go into too much detail on that but think Neil Morissey (Men Behaving Badly) singing along to the full length of Rapper's Delight in the downstairs bar and you're at Pop Confessional a couple of months ago.

Sometimes you have to move forward in order to see where you started out—and the hardscrabble wisdom that one gains from that type of journey forms the backbone of Dave Hause’s third full-length, Bury Me In Philly. “Punk rock guilt is a real thing,” the lifelong Philadelphian says from his new home in California. “I like to make rock n’ roll music because that’s what I love and I don’t care if Zeppelin or the Stones aren’t cool to the punks… it’s cool to me and that’s what ma...

Space vibes, nihilistic party anthems, immersive experiences and “future punk with a FUCK for good measure”: welcome, dear reader, to the weird and wonderful world of London “industrial noise-punk” duo Black Futures.
Their buoyant take on traditional industrial rock sits somewhere between Nine Inch Nails, Beastie Boys and Death From Above 1979, and is, they say, meant to “feel like all of existence is smacking you in the face and making you just stare in awe at its absurd diversity and scale”. Really, you just have to listen to it yourself to work out what they mean.

Having just released their epic 10-minute new single 'Simpatico People' , Manchester trio W. H. Lung will bring their hypnotic rhythms to The Bodega on 14th May.
W. H. Lung is a recording project founded in Manchester in mid-2016. Its first single to yield is the dream-like and shifting ‘Inspiration!’, recorded at The Nave in Leeds and produced by Matt Peel (Eagulls). A song that speaks to the ideas of eternity, belonging and meaninglessness, it takes the shape of a kraut/psy...ch peregrination; persevering but never dull, and bringing it home before the break. The motorik nature of the track stems from W. H. Lung’s writing ethic which, with an Alesis drum machine at its core, aims to create a surrounding maelstrom of ethereal circuits and hypnotic rhythms. ‘Inspiration!’ will be released via the project’s own label Hed Glo Inc. on 25/11. W. H. Lung continue to write and record.

Went to see Laurence Jones last night and the sound was excellent.nice venue and friendly staff...lovely punters too

User

Top drawer attitude from the people in here. I didn’t like the pint I ordered. Nothing wrong with it according the guy in here. Fair enough but he just asked me what drink I wanted and gave it me FOC. Great attitude. Well done Bodega.

User

This place is where dreams are made, prices are wicked, the Bodega Lager is basically holy water and the staff are pure class, I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys music and a friendly atmosphere!

User

This is the perfect place to see a band. Intimate, great sound and always a good atmosphere. We've seen some cracking gigs here. Drink prices are very reasonable for city centre bar too.

User

One of the staff had stinky fly breath, however could carry 8 pints at once (which made up for the breath)

User

One of my favourite venues, helpful and friendly staff, good sounds, lights that switch on and off and top crowds.

Would recommend everything about the venue apart from the stairs, but they are good for cardio.

User

Intimate venue, book some amazing acts and tickets are cheap. Always have a good night on here. Some cracking craft beers on too.

User

I've lost count of the amount of the gigs I've been to in this great venue. I don't I've ever seen a 'shite' one but some stick in the memory, more than others. I quite enjoyed The Hijinks and it was obvious that there were a lot of 'locals' present to see and enjoy them, so much so, that it was noticeable how much the crowd thinned out for Francobollo, which pi**ed me off a bit, because they were superb and deserved a bigger audience. For The Hijinks, think Deep Purple crossed with early Horrors. Francobollo have a lot of quirky time signature changes but great songs. Great gig.

User

Honestly one of the best venues I've ever been to. As someone who loves live music, The Bodega do a great job of showcasing some very talented people.

User

Great venue! Great night . Atmosphere was great and bar staff very friendly and efficient. Jesse Malin was better than ever. Looking forward to my next visit to The Bodega

User

Great bar, great atmosphere, great music - only downside is the barman told me that the single measure is pretty much a double size and then proceeded to pour a double even though I wanted a single. I'm may be wrong but I thought a double measure has to be 50ml and a single 25ml? Not going to put the rating down however as I'm guessing they may have been new!

User

First time in Nottingham came to see Howie Payne the bodega is awesome, brilliant tunes and an awesome selection of beers and craft ales, will be returning soon as I had to drive this time

User

Came to watch the brilliant Carl North and the Lonely hearts who We're amazing and we loved the place. The atmosphere was amazing. The cocktails were superb as we're the bar staff.. Can't wait to come again. Love Notts and The Bodega

User

Awesome venue :) I've been around 4-5 times now and the atmosphere is always great friendly staff love the whole feel of the place

User

Always loved the bodega, I should visit more often. Seen some great bands here, fab small venue. The beer's often good and staff friendly.

User

This would have been a 5 star review as I thought the venue was great, however we had an issue with one of the bouncers who was unnecessarily rude, intimidating and unprofessional, this made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome, we tried not to let this ruin our night but it certainly affected us.

User

Excellent music venue, small but that makes the experience better. One gripe, real ale on at downstairs bar only but don’t let that put you off.

User

Had a good night watching local bands, i did have to wait over half an hour to get my first drink at 7pm when it was far from busy

User

First time here and steep stairs to get in and first impression was small square space with a stage. Nowhere to sit and have a drink or to even put down your drink...the bar sells no bitter, just a few lagers and one cider (on draught)...sound was poor but luckily Bad Touch made the best of it. £15 to get in so i expected a bit more..won't be rushing back anytime soon.
