Introducing Weird World Wednesdays where we explore weird and wonderful curiosities from around the world.
Like parliament's famous Salmon Act of 1986 from the United Kingdom. This states that it's illegal to hold a salmon under suspicious circumstances.
Fishy huh? But entirely true.

I used to be a door to door salesman when I was in my first year of University. 📚
I remember long December nights walking around in the icey rain trying to muster up the strength in my fingers to press the doorbell, or lift the brass knocker with my temporarily frozen hands. ❄️ One time, like in a film, a car drove past leading to a tsunami of puddle water covering me from head to toe. It took weeks to get my clothes dry. 💦👔
Alas, I'm sure there's worse. What's the worst job... you've ever had?

Why Everest? Because of Everest cigarettes.
Engineer Geoff Emerick was always smoking Everests in the studio. The guys liked the look of the silhouette on the package.
But when it came time to take a photo for the cover, flying over the Himalayas just wasn’t an appealing plan.
... Their sound engineer John Kurlander explains, “As they became more enthusiastic to finish the LP someone – I don't remember who – suggested, 'Look, I can't be bothered to schlep all the way over to the Himalayas for a cover, why don't we just go outside, take the photo there, call the LP Abbey Road and have done with it?' That's my memory of why it became Abbey Road: because they couldn't be bothered to go to Tibet and get cold!"
It took about half an hour to shoot the iconic cover.

For all of you ostentatious logophiles out there, this is one that doesn't quite slip off the tongue.
'I think you were right with your part in the floccinaucinihilipilification of that vase. We shouldn't have paid £300 for that, old chap.'

Sialoquent: Tending to spray saliva when speaking
I've decided to start carrying a handkerchief around with me, as I've encountered a fair few sialoquent beings in my time. Did you have a particularly sialoquent teachers?

So, July is here and summer is well under way. 🌞
This month looks likely to break records temperature wise and many will be sad (or VERY happy) that it will also mean the end of the World Cup in Russia. 🇷🇺💔
But never fear, as we have something that can take your mind off all of these things, at least for the time being.
... What do space travel, July and Julius Ceasar all have in common? Take a look at our latest blog piece to find out more. 🚀

For the procrastinators. That washing, that cooking, that report, that revising..... who leave it till tomorrow, and the tomorrow after that too.

If that sends a 'shiver' up your spine, it shouldn't.
Stastiscally, the chances of being attacked and killed by a shark are 1 in 3,748,067. 🦈
You're more likely to pop your clogs by being hit by a firework 🎇, or even by being hit by lightning. ⚡️

I've definitely never heard an Aussie say, "rack off" in real life.
Being raised in the UK on episode of Neighbours and the Crocodile Dundee films, I was pretty sure that the Aussie slang I heard wasn't all that authentic.
Luckily, our very own Aussie writer, Rachel, was on hand to give us her guide to real slang from the land Down Under.

We're all familiar with the symbol '#' from using social media - we see it wherever we go on the internet.
Well, if you didn't know, the technical word for this is an 'octothorp.' No one really knows where it came from and there's a lot of disputed theories - but it first came around in the 1970's.
Are you a serial octothorp user?

Now, I'm not saying Hammurabi was right when he said 'an eye for an eye,' but THIS is something I can definitely get behind.

Well, technically it's a 'butt' or barrel of wine, which can also be used to describe whiskey.
But, if it's brimming at the top, it could be called a full butt, or you could also say 'buttload' couldn't you? 😉
It's Friday, are you going to be drinking a 'buttload' of wine today? 🍷

We love awesome design and we really love inspiring creativity with the pages of our books.
So imagine how much we LOVED sending six of our favourite Australia-based artists each their very own copy of our personalised books and seeing what it inspired them to create... 😍

While I was doing some (very light) mountain climbing, I decided to use the path less well travelled. My foot got lodged between two rocks and whilst trying to loosen it, my knee agonisingly moved out of place. While I was trying to regain my footing with the other leg, that foot also got caught, resulting in my other knee jumping out of place.
I had to be carried down by my girlfriend at the time and her dad. Yes, that's true.
What's your most embarrassing story?

It's normal that we feel more than a pinch of pride for the designs in our brand new Australia book. 😁
The Book Of Everyone's talented designers have been working around the clock to complete what we think is quite the feat. 👩‍🎨
After sitting down with Anna, one of our in house designers, we found out just what the influences were behind her designs and the technique that went into choosing the carefully thought out colour palette. 🎨

The last (but not least) Dad joke for this year.
We want to wish all of the dads out there a very Happy Father's Day for this Sunday, 17th of June.
For the times we really don't want to admit it, but they've been right. 🤭
... For the times that they put on a brave face and swallowed their tears as they watched their pride and joy go off to University. 😢
For the times they didn't tell mum when you got in trouble....
What's the BEST thing your dad has ever done?

The technology behind our books is pretty smart! So smart in fact, that it's beyond mere mortals like me. 💻📚🤯
All I know is that when you use our book builder to create a book, all it takes from you is a few clicks of your mouse and the tech takes care of the rest. It means you can concentrate on adding those all important personal touches.
For the techies out there though, read all about how our innovative tech helps make personalisation more personal in our latest blog.

What a fabulous idea for those special occasions or “just cause” occasions ! I’m so happy with how the book turned out - and such an easy process to make one !!! Postage was super quick - made it on a Sunday and received by Wednesday ( express post )

Ordered a book for Father's Day. I knew it would likely not be delivered in time due to me finishing late and wanting to use vacation pics in the book. But to my surprise, it arrived today! It's absolutely perfect and my husband loves it!! Thank you for a unique gift and amazing timing!

User

My book for my sons 50th is amazing, so factual.

It went overseas yet because of apartment No. missing it came back despite having name and correct address otherwise.

The Book of Everyone guys saw I was having a problem offered help not knowing the problem.

This I thought was a nice gesture and service of this sort not seen these days.

I highly recommend these books, quite special and clever.

User

Just received my mother's Book of Everyone for her 62 birthday and it's wonderful. I am quite pleased with the options I had customizing her book, the printing options and, of course, the final product. She was absolutely pleased with the uniqueness of this gift, to have a book all about her She loves it!!

I've just given my husband a book for his birthday and he really likes it. The quirky bits of info are great and the placing of some pics is clever. The print quality is very good and the finish on the book is really nice. Overall a great gift. I think it could only be improved if you were able to add more pics throughout.

User

I received my book this morning and took it straight to my brother who it was for. Something to remember his 70th birthday.

He was thrilled, found it really interesting. He's so difficult to buy for so I am extremely pleased I finally got a gift for him that he liked.

Thank you sooooooo much.

Worth every penny.

User

I ordered this on a Sunday & received it on the Wednesday, it was excellent. I bought this for a friend who loves books & is quite difficult to buy for. It was perfect, I will be recommending this to all my friends. Thank you

User

I ordered a book in time for my brother’s birthday and unfortunately it wasn’t dispatched until after his birthday, despite paying for express delivery to ensure it arrived the day prior. I emailed the customer service team and spoke to JP and they were fantastic, really accommodating. They even issued a full refund as an apology. I’m really impressed with their customer service, uniqueness of the product, and the whole experience. Thanks JP for being so fantastic and I’ll definitely be ordering in the near future for my family and friends. Can’t recommend this product or team enough!

User

I have now purchased this book three times. Each time I have loved it and so did those i bought it for. My granddaughter took hers to school to show her teacher and from what I gather it was quite a talking point. A wonderful and unusual gift presented to a very high standard.

User

I found this website by accident and I am so glad that I did! I ordered a book on Friday afternoon and it has arrived this morning. The process was so easy and with plenty of personalisation options throughout. The book is great quality and I am so happy with it...hope the birthday girl loves it as much as I do :)

User

I created a book for my sisters 30th birthday. She really loved it - its an unusual gift and such a lovely keepsake. The quality of the book is excellent and delivery was super efficient (I only opted for standard delivery too).

Great product and service, I will definitely recommend you

User

Fantastic customer service, emails every step of the way and swift delivery. The book itself was fantastic quality... I was quite worried because some of the pictures I had to use where very old and photos of old photos if you get me but I shouldn’t have been the images where clear and exactly how they looked when I uploaded. I bought this for my sisters 30th and she loved the finished product! I will definitely be using this company again .

User

Brilliant...

Got this for my husband for Father's Day and he said that this was the best gift he has ever gotten.

The video upload at the end was a major highlight, as we moved countries 2 years ago and seeing fimilar faces wishing him a Happy Fathers day, put the biggest smile on his face.

I would highly recommend this.

User

Bought for my husbands 50th, I loved how you can personalise a majority of pages, and then you can review everything at the end before purchasing to make sure you haven’t made any mistakes. We have all laughed at the comments inside and the hubby thinks it’s fantastic too which is a great result! Great quality and delivered within the time it said. Thank you

User

I have to admit I was a little nervous buying one of these books after seeing mixed reviews and not hearing a lot about them but I was pleasantly surprised. I've ordered this as a mother's day present and the quality is really good with beautiful gift wrapping. delivery was very quick even though I only paid for standard delivery. I think it would be better if there were more oppertunies to personalize pages and it was rather expensive for a book, yet I'm very happy with the final product and it will make a lovely gift

User

Such a shame to receive my book with two conflicting dates throughout. Book was meant for my father for his 60th birthday only for half of the pages to refer to him being 60 and the other half referring to him being 61. Therefore making the book completely useless. This is the 3rd book I've purchased with the book of everyone (the first two being perfect and wonderful presents). So I was extremely disappointed when customer services refused to amend the fault made and asked me if I would like to re-purchase the same book at a discounted price. A discounted price, for an error they made Already paid £35 for a book that makes no sense and they will rectify their fault for an additional £18, totalling £53!Absolutely appalling customer service. Such a shame, will not be reusing or referring this service again.
