The Bookshop is a modern British restaurant serving a daily brunch, a steak led evening menu and an award winning Sunday lunch.

The Bookshop Description

The Bookshop restaurant has a focus on modern ethical eating, demanding of itself sustainability, local ingredients, and considered food.



From 8am daily, brunch, great coffee, and clean cakes are served in a relaxed setting that has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate both working and socialising. The restaurant opens its doors in the evenings from Wednesday to Saturday (6pm-10pm) offering a menu continuing to celebrate organic vegetables and grass-fed steak, with the addition of a greater choice of seasonal fish, vegan and gluten-free dishes. The menu showcases our teams’ creativity in fermenting, pickling and foraging, and use of a handmade charcoal-fired Fogarty oven. On Sundays, our award-winning Sunday lunch (Observer Food Monthly Awards, Best Sunday Lunch 2017) is served between 12. 30 - 6pm. Extended opening hours, relaxed drinking areas, and a beautiful garden invites our customers to spend time enjoying drinks from our carefully created cocktail and drinks menu.

Wow! I don't often order a roast when out as invariably disappointed but this was on a whole different level - the roast pork belly was divine and the sides which are served to the table as a whole were unbelievably tasty - can't recommend it highly enough. Plus the waiting staff were lovely, attentive but unobtrusive and whilst I shouldn't have had dessert, the cherry & lemon posset was superb - 10/10

From the welcome we received, the service through out and the amazing food and drinks we were so impressed!



I am pregnant so couldn’t enjoy the delicious gin cocktail my husband was raving about however, your wonderful waitress and barman made me the most beautiful virgin mojito (I won’t lie, I have recreated it at home twice since Saturday) and I honestly didn’t feel as though I was missing out at all.



Your waitress explained the menu and your ethos so eloquently. We love that you use the entire cow across the businesses and can’t wait to come back to try the burgers and Sunday lunch!



Your chef catered for my needs wonderfully as I asked for my steak to be as close to medium as possible without being too pink to enjoy whilst pregnant. It was perfection in meat form!



We honestly can’t wait to visit again soon!

Staff were so welcoming and flexible. Having booked late we'd also forgotten to say we had some food intolerances in the group. The staff were so understanding and went out of their way to come up with options. It genuinely didn't seem like hassle for them - they really wanted to deliver good food to enjoy - and we did.



We've been 3 times for Sunday lunch now and always good and they'd recently changed the veg option. No problem... talk to the chef... two options... prepare a veggie option from scratch. As it'll take a little longer they suggested some gratis bread (yummy) to keep us going?



We'll be back.

One of the best Sunday Dinners I have had. We were down from the North East visiting friends and came for lunch. Service was excellent and food was perfect. Even when alarmingly the veg came sprinkled with nuts the was no hassle in them bring out a nut free bowl. Well worth a visit if you're in the area

Another fantastic steak night! All the flavour combinations including side dishes were amazing. Thank you so much for accommodating my husbands dietary requirements before our arrival; it certainly makes ordering food a lot easier for everyone! We ordered the sirloin for 2 and our only suggestion would be that it was carved for us. Oh and please bring back the bone marrow gravy!! Great staff, fantastic food and lovely atmosphere!

Absolute amazing evening! Food was delicious and cooked perfectly- in my eyes it is much better than the likes of Miller & Carter, and is now my go to place. Steak was cooked perfectly and food tasted so, so good. Amazing range of cocktails, sides and desserts! And an all round amazing atmosphere, with brilliant, attentive staff! Highly, highly recommend to anyone and everyone! Best place in Hereford easily �
