What great food and service we received on Wednesday evening. It was steak night and the Fillet Steak was to die for. The staff were very attentive and really made it a great overall experience. We will be coming back very soon. They also had a table of 48 people upstairs. You wouldn't of thought so because the food arrived very quick and was delicious

We stayed here for 1 night as part of our honeymoon. The room was amazing so clean massive every thing you could possibly need and more if we needed as all we had to do was ask. The food was just fantastic the service was brilliant the staff where so helpful nice and busy but still so organised. Atomosphere was lovely. Breakfast was superb. all juices u could wish for tea coffee and of course proseco which I thought was a fantastic touch we throughly enjoyed it and are definitely returning for future stays.

We had a meal at The Borough in the function room lastnight and it was superb. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The food was gorgeous as always and to top it off the kids ate free and the adults got a free bottle of wine! Perfect

User

Very impressed with food. Nice decor and great customer service from knowledgeable staff.

User

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, welcomed as soon as we walked through the door, lovely room, and a fan !!welcome drink and lovely breakfast too,

User

Stunning room and welcome drink is a lovely idea, we thoroughly enjoyed our roast beef dinner and starters, the Comedy Club was good but not enough seating. All in all a wonderful stay, would definitely recommend.

User

I had my babyshower at the borough in June we had afternoon which was very good! Food and service were great and everyone there enjoyed the day! Would definitely recommend the afternoon tea! Thank you very much!

User

Come here regularly. Food excellent and a free beer with a meal from school dinner menu! Added bonus. Janet the waitress always greets us with a smile and her sense of humour is priceless! She is a diamond

User

Big thank you to Mark and his team for another great weekend. Fantastic food as usual, comfy immaculate room and service was above and beyond exceptional. See you again next year

Always go here for lunch with friends, it’s our meeting place, never disappointed with the food or customer service, I went for the steak sandwich for lunch the last time I was there and it was perfect, homemade coleslaw aswel cant beat it!

Evening meals, I always go for the pate, really nice, served with toasted bread and onion marmalade its so really good, the ribeye steak is my favourite always cooked perfectly medium well, I didn’t want chips so changed to sweet potato fries, you get one big mushroom and then peppercorn sauce, which is sooo tasty too!

Honestly I’ve never seen a desert board like it! The share desert board where you get a little bit of everything, basically one of each desert meant to be for two people but could feed four easily!

One thing aswel is I always fancy a taste of the soup of the day before I commit to getting a full bowl, and the waitress/waiter always kindly gets me a little taster when I ask!

I would recommend The borough highly to anybody wanting a nice warm atmosphere and goo hearty food! Also big shout out to the head the head chef Daren Dixon and the waitress which I cant remember her name but she’s prob in her 50s hopefully, that always brings the banter and we’ve had many laughs with her when she serves us with drinks at the table!

User

Absolutely fantastic we had the sharing platter everything was cooked beautifully we will return

Visited today at 3pm today, waited about 20 mins for order to be taken and same for our bill (we gave up and went to the bar to pay). No apologies for the wait. Lots of staff around but seemed poorly managed, 3 staff to sort a booking at the front and then 2 of them to walk them to a room. Looking at other recent reviews seems like we weren't the only ones to find this!

User

I have always enjoyed the food at the Burough but lately I have been disappointed with what have been my favourite dishes .

Yesterday we ordered the school dinner fish and chips . I have memories of these being the best chips ever but yesterday the chips were served cold as if they had been left sitting whilst the fish was cooked or maybe they did not get a final fry !! Mushy peas were good but the fish may not have been as fresh as it could be .

One of my favourite dishes at the Burough has been the belly pork , but last time I had this at Christmas time the crackling was not to its usual fine standard and now the dish has been taken off the menu ??

I hope that the chefs can get these meals back on track as the Burough is a lovely pub with great atmosphere.

Arrived here from Nottingham for a four night stay with my partner and small dog, nice that they are dog friendly. Was offered and given a welcome drink of our choice. The place was very busy and noisy, but there again it was the Easter holiday. The staff carried our luggage up to the room, which we were quite grateful of after a 3-4 hour journey. Wasn't too keen on the 40 steps up to the room and would not advise anyone to stay here if partially disabled or unfit. No lift, no phone in the room to ask for milk, only given and told there was only one door key for the room, which was a bit of a pain when taking the dog out and one staying in the room. Was told would have to leave key at reception for my partner which was a bit pointless because you had to have the key to get back into the locked entrance with the key at the top of the stairs, so a bit of a bind, kept having to phone each other when one or the other wanted to get back in. Was a nice breakfast, although it was a long wait, and agree with some of the other comments was a long wait. On the Easter Sunday some residents came in at 3-4 in the morning, shouting and banging doors. Kept awake for about an hour until they quietened down, however think they left the next morning and the next night was peaceful. The first meal we had was good and tasty, but thought the Lancashire hotpot meal was overpriced. Despite our grumbles we decided to see out our stay, but would not return because of the room accommodations and the problem with only one key.

Always have loved the borough and would always go in for a drink. Haven't been for food in a while but after seeing the new menu I thought I'd try it and was disappointed. I ordered the rump steak and wasn't good at all. It was fatty and ordered it medium and was over cooked. It used to be served on a wooden board and the chips were in a basket but now the presentation isn't as near as good. My girlfriend ordered duck stir fry and looked terrible. On the picture on facebook it shows plenty of duck around the noodles but when it came the was 3 little pieces of duck around the noodles and the noodles weren't even that great. However the potted shrimps and hot fudge sundae was great. The table next to us complained too for same reasons. Wouldn't eat here again probably but will always come for a drink

User

Disappointed with the food and service. Paid £22 per head for 2 course set menu for a party. Cray fish salad was cold little prawns covered with strange, crunchy sugary stuff, with a thin slice of avocado. Veg chilli was mediocre, with little flavour, and cold by the time the rest of the table's meals had arrived. Staff were polite enough but seemed clueless. Should have been so much better for the price.

We booked probably a week in advance, a table for two on Saturday night at 7.30pm to celebrate our anniversary. On arrival we were shown to our table and told that they would be along to take a drinks order in a couple of minutes. Nearly 20 minutes later our order for drinks and food was taken, and I was assured that the food would be out within half an hour. Our drinks came promptly, but the order was wrong so had to be sent back. It was half an hour until we got our shared starter, which we had to ask after because we were starving by this point. 20-30mins after our starter went, we received our main course. The 'rare' steak I ordered was medium, and my partners burger was slightly burnt. We opted not to send it back due to the sheer length of time this might have taken. No one came to ask how our meal was, no one came to clear up the plates and no one came to ask us about dessert, we were simply left in the corner. My partner had to go to the desk with the plates still on the table to ask for the bill, and the waiter got somebody else's bill right in front of us before ours, despite standing right there. Shocking service, and completely over priced for what came out. There was a massive table of people next to us who had about 4 waiters to them alone and who seemed to ignore the rest of the restaurant. After years of service and great reviews I did not expect to be treated like a side table and subordinate customer. We will not be going here ever again.

User

Very disappointed! I usually love the Borough and the service is normally first class. However, last night we ordered and watched everyone else who ordered after us receive their food first. After 40 mins of waiting I asked how long our food would be,to be told our order hadn’t gone through to the kitchen. A further 10 minute wait and our nibble starters arrived, olives and belly pork! A further 20 minute wait and our mains! Come on Borough sort it out, waiting on staff should have realised we hadn’t received our food!

User

Normally the best breakfast in town and cheap with great service, all four breakfasts were dry and the pancakes had enough fat In To half fill a small coffee cup, staff seemed uninterested. Sat for an hour waiting for food and never received toast.

Heart breaking to leave a bad review at what I thought was the best in Lancashire.
