About Us

Our mission is to be a creative hub for the region, continually offering high quality experiences which entertain, stimulate, involve and inspire the many diverse communities we serve.

The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre offers a varied programme of events for all ages including drama, dance, comedy, music, workshops, exhibitions and poetry. Located in Somerset's county town of Taunton, our purpose built arts centre comprises the Main House, Gallery and visual art exhibition space, Studio (an adaptable space for small scale performance), Cultivate Hub (a creative making space), and Cafe Bar.

We also provide an oasis in the centre of Somerset’s county town for artists and creatives to meet and engage with the community through sharing of work, workshops, mentoring and participatory events.

At the heart of what we do is the promotion of culture and the understanding of how it can enhance and enrich people’s lives.

“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth”
Blackeyed Theatre present 'Sherlock Holmes - Sign of Four' on 25 & 25 Feb 2019. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s epic second Sherlock Holmes tale is crammed full of adventure, romance, comedy and of course one or two rather brilliant deductions. User

Went to see 9-5 and can't rave about it enough! Absolutely brilliant! Superb acting, amazing singing and funny as well! Would definitely recommend!

Great theatre with lovely people & no queues! Will be watching to see what's on next!

User

Well deserving 5⭐️ They have some amazing shows and craft events to attend, lots available for all ages.

We attended the frozen sing along and both my children really enjoyed themselves. I wanted to book the Moana sing along but forgot with all the hospital appointment etc we've had, so I messaged to try and get 4 seats together because there looked to be no more ! And I got a very quick response with 4 seats available for me to book! Amazing I now have a very happy and excited 3 year old!

Can't wait to attend and look for what's next! Thank you so much customer service amazing !

User

We've been going to the Brewhouse since I moved to Taunton a few years ago. We love the Taunton Thespians in particular. We've just see 9 to 5 and it was fantastic. Superb cast and scenery. The main singers were wonderful and we so enjoyed our evening. A little gem in Taunton with dedicated volunteers who do a great job.

User

We went to The Brewhouse Theatre to see Oye Santana last night. What an amazing evening. The band were brilliant and definitely well worth seeing again. It was well supported but the few empty seats missed a great night!

Lovely staff and a great venue. We will be sure to visit again but would suggest that somehow there was more advertising for future events.

User

We have enjoyed the outdoor shows for kids this summer. Grass today kept the four year olds engrossed again and a nice session after digging for bugs. Thanks Brewhouse!

User

Three generations went to see " a Christmas Carol" on Boxing Day- it was fantastic & we all found it moving, fantastic & highly professional. Thank you to all cast, backstage and theatre staff for working on Boxing Day so we could enjoy ourselves. God bless you, every one!

User

Thank you so much for the VIP package we won today. We had such a great time watching A Christmas Carol. The drinks, ice cream, sweets and show was amazing. Thank you again. Xx The Wild Family xxx

User

Thank you for our VIP package to see What the Ladybird Heard today. We all really enjoyed it.

User

New to the area, and first time here. It was lovely, staff were all very helpful. Myself and my son watched Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Which was brilliant. If I had to find a negative it was that the cafe was cash only! So used to doing contactless nowadays I had no cash on me!

User

Just been to see Michael McIntyre.... what a brilliant night!! Laughed from.start to finish. Fabulous venue and very friendly staff. Thank You!

User

I used to live in Taunton until we emigrated to New Zealand 13 years ago. We don't have pantomimes in NZ, so what a treat to go to one in the Brewhouse. Laughed, shouted, and joined in, just like we used to with our young children. So glad the theatre is thriving, it was such a pleasure to be there after so many years. Thank you.

User

Friendly theatre that puts on a Great variety of entertainment with some top performers too - really enjoyed Lee Nelson , the comedy act last night ..he was ace, a real legend !! . often at the Brewhouse, love the ballets and got a number of events coming up with Strictlys Giovanni and MJ tribute act - can’t wait 😊

User

Fantastic evening spent at the Brewhouse, Taunton Thespians 90th Anniversary Variety Show - Everyone involved from across the county, outstanding talent, just wonderful

User

Did a walk down memory lane while home from New Zealand. Went with 20 year old daughter to see the pantomime. Don't have pantomimes in NZ so we did the whole lot; "he's behind you" and "oh yes you did". Loved it and really glad to see The Brewhouse was saved from closure. Would be criminal not to have live acts to watch. Love it.

User

Brilliant night at the brewhouse seeing Lee Nelson, can't wait to go back again in a few weeks to see Giovanni and Luba from strictly!!

User

Another great night at the Brewhouse last night to see Show of Hands. Such a super little venue, particularly when it's sold out. An excellent view wherever you are thanks to the well raked seating. Staff always polite and helpful, and quick service at the well stocked bar. Show of Hands never disappoint and this venue suits them perfectly. Very glad you managed to save it and get re-opened as we use it regularly.

User

Had a superb evening watching Talon. The Brewhouise is a fantastic venue and we shall be coming again soon to see Roy Orbison and TRextasy. Glad you are open again. Just one point i would like to mention - there was no security to check bags as I had my back cushion in a carrier bag and also no check on our tickets as we entered main hall.

User

Gruffalo’s Child was brilliant, and the story was enhanced by the amazing 3 people who played the characters. Snake was my favourite, a dose of adult humour in a child play always helps.

Shame the ticket prices were the same for any age, as think it’s expensive for a family.
