As the lights flicker…it’s 1979 in Worsborough Dale.... A letter arrives announcing the arrival of a government inspector, incognito, and ready to root out the town’s rampant corruption, which sends the crooked council chairman and his bureaucrats into a panicked frenzy.
A web of lies and bribery follows in this comic satire of a small town’s utter madness, shadiness and self delusion.
Nobody is free from the taint of ravenous self-interest, bureaucracy, buffoonery and more. Their actions are held up to scorn and ridicule in this hilarious yet moral tale. irrational theatre presents a new play, adapted from Gogol’s great satire.

On Friday 13 September 1940, a ship, The City of Benares, set sail from Liverpool for Canada. On board were 90 evacuees escaping the bombing and dangers of war torn Britain. Four days into the crossing, the ship was torpedoed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and sank. Only eleven of the evacuees survived.
... Two fifteen year old school girls, Bess Walder and Beth Cummings, spent 19 terrifying hours in the water on an upturned lifeboat. They willed each other to survive.
LIFEBOAT tells their extraordinary true story, a story of courage, of resilience and of enduring friendship. “We were not in the business of giving up.”
Produced by the same team behind the Offie nominated and five star productions of Kes and The Wolves of Willoughby Chase.
LIFEBOAT was first produced as an original stage production by Catherine Wheels Theatre Company and directed by Gill Robertson.

Based on a true story, The White Rose recounts the final days of Sophie Scholl, a 21-year-old student, who led the only major act of German civil disobedience during the Second World War. Sophie, along with her brother Hans, published underground anti-Nazi leaflets calling for the peaceful overthrow of Hitler.
... This timely and provocative play tells her story and explores the role that German citizens played in the rise of Hitler. The play examines the moral strength and courage that led a group of young people to risk their lives for a righteous, dangerous cause. This production marks the 75th anniversary of Sophie Scholl’s execution.
Seven-time Off West End Award Nominated Arrows & Traps Theatre return to the Jack after their sold-out run of Chekhov’s Three Sisters.

Nice gastro chain pub. Greene king. Staff excellent. Toilets clean. Should not sell wine (Yellow Tail) that customers can recognise and can buy £12 cheaper a bottle. Recommended
