we visted yesterday from Portsmouth. we arrived a little early without realising you closed between 3-6.....doh. but me, my husband and little one went for a stomp along the river which was absolutely stunning and was greatly welcomed from our usual city surroundings. We came back on opening and had a gorgeous meal. staff were all fabulous especially with our little boy. being a vegetarian it's always much of the same meals when we go out but have to say I was greatly impressed that there wasn't a falafel burger in sight on your menu and I thoroughly enjoyed the veg and bean tagine. it was divine. we can't wait to make more visits during the summer months and it's well worth the 45 min drive ♡ Thankyou ♡

You can't beat the location on a summers day. The river walk , which runs along side the pub is stunning. We stopped in the garden for a drink and lunch this weekend. The chunky chips were the best ! And everything else was pretty tasty too. Will definitely visit again.

We regularly visit The Bush with our dog & sit in the beer garden by the river.

Lovely location, friendly staff & delicious food.

Some lovely vegetarian options, no vegan option, but there are side orders that could be ordered & you can invent your own meal!

E.g.

Pitta & houmous,

Sun dried tomato & rocket salad,

Olives,

Hand cut chunky chips

& other bits!

We have been several times in both the summer and winter. There is a lovely garden with plenty of seating for those hazy summer days and evenings. In the winter, there is a log fire and cozy atmosphere. Never had a bad meal but in busy times there can be a delay in receiving your order. A small price to pay for freshly made dishes. The price is as to be expected for service but is by no means expensive.

Visited The Bush Inn today ,with friends for Sunday lunch

food was excellent well presented ,lovely and hot

Service first class, unhurried and friendly, especially the 2 young waitresses who were prepared to talk to us.

A lovely setting ,welcomed our friends dog, Eric ,will return so we can go for a walk along the river before lunch.

Tucked away English country pub. Great food, welcoming staff, good Ale, antique decor, higgledy piggeldy layout. Chocolate Baileys Cheese Cake = instant cardiac arrest - to die for. Nice place to walk along river. Outside seating in summer. Fair sized parking. Clean loo. Would love a lock in here. Simply perfick.

Smashing lunch yesterday, even able to sit out in the garden in the sunshine on 28th October . The food was excellent and the service too. Many thanks.

User

Picturesque pub in a beautiful location beside the river Itchen, very quintessentially English in every way. We enjoyed a light lunch yesterday, great food, welcoming and professional staff, warm spring sunshine...what more could you want?

User

Lovely lunch had for anniversary and birthday. With a beautiful river walk. Fantastic gluten free menu on offer and very attentive staff. Good for the doggies too!

I couldn’t make a single negative comment about this place. Everything is excellent at the Bush Inn.

User

Brilliant food yesterday when we celebrated my 'older sisters birthday. Food great and what we ordered, not hassled to hurry up and very relaxed with 37 of us including 7 children. Fully recommend.

Been coming to the Bush for many years and it's been up and down. Right now it's on a high. Very well run and friendly, and the food was very good.

Location is also hard to beat.

User

Amazing location, river particularly went down well with our springer! Had roast chicken and have to say the chicken was probably the best I've had, very moist and lovely crispy skin. Service was good especially seeing as they were so busy, would definitely come again.

User

After a hard days Work decided to pop in for a quick pint. Was astonished by the most beautiful pub just on our doorstep. Decided to have a few starters to go with our wonderful ale and was delighted to have such tasty and diverse food! Couldn’t recommend the bush Inn highly enough!

User

What a beautiful spot by the River Itchen. Our main course was absolutely delicious...we had the lamb pie.....and my mum had the sausages. Our desert was a little slow arriving but that also was delicious so we didn't mind the wait. This place is well worth a visit.

User

Perfect peaceful location for the bank holiday weather! Food was really good and service was excellent......would highly recommend

User

Stunning venue, just a shame about the constant sorry’s and poor communication when arriving. Sorry, no tab allowed, then left waiting at the bar waiting to order food only to then be told we had to have a table number of where we wanted to sit. Then another, sorry you need to get your own cutlery..... My visit to a premier inn last week was a better experience. Shame.

User

Lovely pub, but food was at best average, pie of the day was the size of a pork pie and sea bass was clearly left on the pass for about an hour. Staff very friendly but took a long time for food to arrive, and looked like there was one waitress running around frantically. Lovely pub for a walk and a pint, but not great for lunch.

This has been a favourite of mine for years, I've made countless recommendations to friends to visit and although we live an hour away and it's always been worth the drive - but not last Sunday. The service lacked warmth and staff were clearly stretched. Mediocre roast with dry potatoes, little gravy and veg that tasted reheated. No checks were made on how our meals were. Table water was requested and not served until we went to the bar. Had to ask for main courses to be cleared. In all a really disappointing visit for our family reunion.
