We have a kitchen vacancy for a full-time chef. Experience is preferable but a questionable sense of humour will do just fine.

Why haven’t I visited before?

Heard about it getting busy and queues waiting at the door but arrived and I was so pleased we got seated straight away.

Loved the decor and our table was made out to be a Monopoly Board.

Loads of choice on the menu - didn’t know what to go for. Service was good, which was pretty quick.

Food was epic!

No one came over to ask if our food was ok but I don’t think it’s that type of place.

Will definitely be back to try another breakfast option.

This place has a buzz 10.30am cold winter day and there were queuing, food fabulous fresh and soooooo nice highly recommend

The menu was extensive. A nice quaint restaurant. Very large portions. Food made to your liking and quickly made. Excellent place for breakfast.

User

Myself and a few girls go here every Friday afternoon after Baba sensory sometimes with 2/3 buggies/car seats and the staff are always lovely and accommodating. The food and drinks are amazing the chips are the best!

User

Lovely atmosphere. Busy on a Monday means good food, and it true great food

User

It was definitely worth the wait, great value for money, loads of choice. Will visit next time we are in Newcastle.

I love to cook so doing a breakfast for my love ones isn't a problem so I'm never that bothered about going out ( in fact normally hate it as I always find faults with it but I can honesty say that it was well worth it here at the butterfly's , it was the best breakfast I ever had & I stay at the Hilton ,crown plaza ( which was lovely ) it was well worth the 10/ 15mins outside ..

we had the normally English & champion breakfast & English tea & scrumpy cider x 2 which was refreshing & lush but well done to the staff as each & everyone never stops but nothing the problem to them & as hot as they look they still put a smile on their faces , god bless to them all & thank you & WE WILL BE BACK

Food was lovely and so we're the staff. Can't recommend this place enough. Actually went out of my way to try it and I'm glad I did.

Went for brunch today and it was good decor and obviously popular based on the question out of the door. We had tried to book however was faced by no answer every time (I guess due to being very busy). Once sat the range of meals seemed good and looked tasty from those sat around us. The food was quick and of good quality however due to being so very busy it was very difficult to grab the waitresses attention at any time, including waiting 20 mins to try to pay. Eventually we approached the desk to pay there however the waitress's math skills seemed to be lacking as she tried to over charge several times (although this didn't appear intentional). Overall good experience though!

It’s a lovely place to visit , only downside was the muffins , they were quite hard and firm so they could have been fresher or not cooked as much

User

First time here birthday breakfast treat with family, had to wait for table a whilst but food and service were otherwise good. All seemed to enjoy and have a good time and would return again.

User

The food was good with generous portions at a reasonable price. It was a little let down by poor service we waited a long time to order and although the food followed relatively quilckly the order was wrong and we got no cutlery. The table behind us also had the wrong order. The waiter did bring out the missing items but didn't tell us what he was doing and the rest of the meal was cold when the poached eggs came. When we pointed out the missing cutlery it took an age to come as the waitress seamed oblivious to our wait and washed a load of cutlery filling a container rather then just bringing over a 2 knives and forks. I would eat here again and to be fair it was very busy but the service needs to improve.

I normally loved his place, the food and the atmosphere, but was a bit disappointed yesterday as my coffee and walnut cake not only on the dry side but served on a chipped saucer.

Unfortunately I'm unable to review the food after hearing such good things I am still yet to try it so I'm reviewing my own experience from today...

My Dad has visited a lot recently so chose to have his birthday lunch here. I tried calling the restaurant several times but I'm yet to have my phonecall answered. We decided to just drive to the restaurant and speak to someone face to face.

I entered and asked one of the four members of staff behind the counter if there was a table for 7 people and a baby for 15mins time, they all kind of twisted their faces and wandered around the half full restaurant, I sensed they weren't happy with my simple request so explained that I had tried to call to book to make things easier but there was no answer on the phone, I was told sharply 'sorry but there's not always someone in the office!' Why on earth would a popular restaurant have their phone in an office?! Surely it should be at the front of house for this very reason.

Another member of staff told me that it should (not would) be fine even if we just had two tables near each other. I explained I was just waiting in my car for the rest of my party to arrive and would be straight in (not that they seemed bothered what I was doing).

I sat in the car waiting for a short time with my sister, nephew and two children and watched the restaurant fill up, no table/s had been kept for us. I also must mention that when I first entered there was a large table that seated 8 in the centre of the restaurant with just 1 person sitting on it, even though there were several smaller tables available at that time.

So my Dad and brothers were on their way and we had to call them and explain that we were unable to eat here.

I trust the great opinions of others based mainly on the food served here but from my personal experience I was very underwhelmed by the general attitude of the staff and how my situation was dealt with. It wouldn't have been that hard to ask if it was for an occasion or if they could hold a table or two for a short while would it? There was no customer care here at all.

Literally tried to come 4 times (including 5 minutes ago) each time we’ve been turned away at the door cos they were “closed” but people were sat inside eating?? If you’re gonna have a closed sign out then try shutting the door so we can’t see all the people eating inside
