Well what a weekend at The Cannon, sell out gigs, Christmas Lights, 60 litres of Mulled Wine & our GP Auction Day for the Willen Hospice, we are all in recovery mode!!
We raised a grand total of £3524, smashed last year. This is how we did it, The Auction, food & £100 raffle raised £2912. The £100 raffle was won by Roy Mason who donated back to Willen Hospice. My beloved John Morgan donated a piggy bank full of £2 coins, which had £512!!! A big thank you, to these two won...derful humans. A massive thank you to all who donated Sandwich Sam’s, Simply Sweets, Mr Clean Dry Cleaner, Douglas’s Butcher, MK Cleaning Services, Floral Art & Design, Red Bull Racing, Mercedes AMG Formula 1, all my customers & friends for their brick brack & treasures. All the people that bidded, that put in reserves & phone bids. I love you all, you are one incredible bunch of kind hearted people.
My wonderful husband, Dunc , who is the best auctioneer, I hear Christies & Bonhams are trying to headhunt him. My mother, for orchestrating most it, the backbone of The Cannon. My beautiful staff for working their socks off. Hannah Ward for always helping me out whenever I ask. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Went to the Cannon this evening with my husband and sat outside the back. Lovely pub, friendly staff and will definitely be going back
The bestest pub bar none. Always feel relaxed in there and ‘overhearing ‘ some of the chat is priceless and entertaining in itself, but the fact you can join in at times just shows the quality of the customers. I used to drink there on a regular Friday and Saturday night back in the 70’s. One small gripe is to be told ‘you do realise we have a no hat policy here’ when I was wearing a knitted beanie/bobble hat I felt was a bit miffing. Couldn’t see any signs about, must have missed them.
Super pub. Always enjoying the people around. They are very friendly down there and make you feel really welcome. Apart from the ales they have a great choice of G&T's
Really nice bar with great decore with a sense of tradition and very friendly staff!!!
Possibly the greatest pub in the world...?
Great pub, good beers at reasonable prices.. Molly, Duncan and the bar staff always make you feel very welcome.
Great pub function room great for parties was a brill night for friends 60th birthday party
Great function room for a party, complete with a stage. I DJ'd a 50th birthday party here and everyone had a fantastic time! Looking forward to playing there again!
Good Music Good beer Good people good fun Good place all go together to make a very Good Pub
Excellent pub with great selection of drinks. A real welcoming place even for a Watford fan who was wearing his shirt from the local Luton fans. Highly recommended from my trip up from Devon.
Always really liked the Cannon as someone who comes to Newport regularly. Best pub in town because it's a real pub with great staff and good beer and not a food pub. Not sure about the new refurb though, some bits are better (the gin shop and snug bar) but I think I preferred the main bar as it was. None the less, great pub. Enjoy.
A very nice pub with friendly people. Would always return for a beer if in the area.
"Probably the best pub in the world" everything about The Cannon is right. The beer, the price, the staff & above all, Molly, certainly the best landlord in the world.
Probably the best pub in Newport pagnell. Staff great beer cheap what more could you ask for.
I like this pub but was very dissapointed that i had to ask for some fruit for my pimms yest.. was served it with nothing ...
Great pub great staff great atmosphere the best pub in England I think.
A lovely pub (people, place price and beer). A victim of some modernisation which has taken the edge off the comfort!
When few people in, hard floor makes place very noisy. (Echoey!) Many familiar artefacts removed from the walls. That said, nice clean environment that I will no doubt get used too.
Visiting the other half's family and unfamiliar with the area ourselves, we decided to pop into The Cannon as it looked like a lovely little pub and had glowing reviews - inside is what you would expect, nice, cosy feel. However, sadly that's where the good experience ended. The pub operates a no hat policy - perfectly okay and zero issues with this, not so much with the attitude / the bar staff's tone enforcing the policy. Strangely they had no issues with patrons (likely regulars) lighting up what can only be described as wacky backy at the rear. Secondly my partner was served a flat beer, returning to complain they advised they could only top it up (rather than offer another beer that wasn't off) - again, still flat. Maybe we are far too spoiled with our northern, welcoming real ale pubs and this is classed as top notch down south, who knows but certainly a disappointing experience.
