The Carpenter'S Arms

About The Carpenter'S Arms

Accommodation providing addiction related support primarily for those challenged with homelessness due to a lifestyle issues

The Carpenter'S Arms Description

The programme:

Phase 1: We have a twelve bedroom detox house, commonly referred to as Phase 1. Here residents can detox whilst on methadone, subutex, chlordiazapoxide or a range of other prescribed medications to aid with substance withdrawal. Here residents are expected to work with medical staff to detox and prepare for Phase 2 should the resident successfully complete Phase 1. This programme ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months long.

Phase 2: This part of the programme focuses on the pastoral issues surrounding the addictive lifestyle, including looking at the back to work mentality. During this time residents will be encouraged to reconcile with family, visits facilitated and progress made on core issues by one of our certified counsellors.

Phase 3: For those who have successfully completed a rehabilitation programme, ours or a similar programme in the UK, we offer great accommodation in and around the Loughborough area. These houses have a member of staff living in and space for up to 4 residents. During this time the resident will be encouraged back to work, but realistically the timetable is their own. A regular review takes place every three months to determine the progress a resident is making in Phase 3 and, along with their key worker, new long term objectives are set. Help is never far away though as the live in staff member assists with daily challenges including work place issues and life skills.

Re-offenders: Due to our close working relationship with the police and probation, and in no small part to the further education courses that some residents enrol on, we have found particular success with re-offenders. For those coming out of prison, our centre provides a stable platform for reintegration whilst addressing addiction rehabilitation. This programme includes move on houses with voluntary work available.

Perks: We have found that part of successful rehabilitation is a healthy body as well as a healthy mind. We have a sports programme that uses the local gym 4 + times a week, a 5 a side football team, a scuba diving club and volunteering opportunities that include gardening within the community. This is a great chance to invest in the local community. After a busy day, catch up with other residents in the hot tub onsite or over a game of pool.

Street-2-life: This is a fantastic opportunity for willing residents to sow back into a younger generation by visiting schools and running workshops on substance abuse. This includes working with local youth groups.

Family feel: Our largest centre has 29 bedrooms so there is always a sense of knowing who you live with and who you’re going through the programme with. We recognise that a support network is a necessary tool and so we will also work with clients to help reconcile family relationships. We believe that Christianity provides a firm foundation and ethos to operate under.

Referrals: We take a variety of referrals and no-one is excluded from applying for a place on our programme. Although we are based in Leicestershire, we are able to accommodate referrals nationwide. Application forms and House Rules can be downloaded from our website.

This is just a tiny portion of the donation we received this afternoon from Wymeswold Church and Wymeswold Primary School. THANK YOU It will make a big difference to many this Christmas!

Well this nugget shocked some of us. Do you think this is something you’d share with the friend who gets behind the wheel because they’ve “only had a couple”, or perhaps when someone says “it’s not a big deal” about smoking weed and driving. ‘‘Tis the season to get home safely, please show your family how much you care for them and “don’t get wrecked”

What a lovely letter by one of our volunteers, Dianne Dilling, in “Delicious” magazine this month!

Did you know that 1 in 4 children in the UK do not own a book? Freya Snow, founder of Story Imagin-ory is helping us redress that in our area by supplying books for us to put into family Christmas hampers. She has lots more to give away and wants people to contact her, try the Story Imagin-ory Facebook page! Thank you Freya for your wonderful generosity!

Some staff and residents went to the Release Men’s Conference 2018 in Wigston today. It’s an annual event run by Christian Vision For Men. We hear that Jimmy Cooper spoke well - we’re proud of you!

Dianne, Ray and the residents were at it again. This time they cooked shepherds pie, salmon Wellington, salmon pasta bake, sausage and mixed vegetable sizzle and a fruit crumble for dessert. Not a single crumb was remaining!

Once again huge thanks to Sutton Bonington youth group for an incredible trolley dash, collecting food for us to distribute to those in need! They have done this for years and involve as many residents of Sutton Bonington as they can. It’s definitely a village that loves to give!

copied and shared from someone else’s post: Just seen Greggs do gift cards from £5 🙂 if you can why not put the price of a meal deal on to it and give to a homeless person 😍 this might be the difference of life and death throughout these horrible months with no place to go, hungry & cold. That £5 gift card is 2 meals ......... a meal deal with sandwich, juice etc and a morning roll with a hot drink 😁

I remember a few years ago they came to college to talk to students about there journey through life, and how hard it became for them. I am a LSA at the college,i listened to there stories and it really touched my heart.Well done for Carpenters Arms.

User

I delight in seeing the many men on your programs each week at Trent Vineyard and for their dedication and support of each other.

Well done! One and all that your lives will begin again.

User

I completed the program at The Carpenters Arms.... and without it I would not be here writing this post. I was lost in active poly drug use , broken and crushed and suicidal. 20 plus years of believing the lie that I could not live a ' normal ' life.

Today I am 1 year and 6 days off ALL mind altering substances, including cigarettes. I'm studying a B.a honours in Theology and music have a balanced lifestyle and do not think about taking drugs. This is because I listened to the teachings and was willing to live out Gods will.

If you are reading this and struggling with addiction then give yourself a break and contact this program . Many thanks Adam

Equipping the saints for gods work!! It was a revelation to me when i realised that by becoming a christian I became a saint. And that I too could equipp more saints by my good deeds and bring others to jesus. Now that is POWERFUL #makeaimpact#helpothers#becomeasaint

I give my thanks to god first and foremost then to Brian and Judith Spence and all the staff at the carpenters arms for their time, love and true christian hearts. You have made me alive again and bought my family back to me. Bit by bit little by little. gods angels.

Awesome place, have loved working here and seeing guys change their lives around. Relieved to hear of the successes, sad to hear of the relapses but privileged to have met every one of the guys. Highs and lows aside, looking forward to seeing what comes this next year.
