We had a fabulous break at the carpenters arms January 2018. Our house room was gorgeous, the staff were extremely nice, atmosphere in the bar and restaurant was great, enjoyed all of our food which was served quickly despite a full restaurant, surroundings were picturesque and nearby to all major attractions in North Yorkshire. Definitely a place to go again.

We chose this venue for our Silver Wedding Night and just loved it. OH was a tad unwell prior to food and staff were exemplary. Dinner was delicious, our room (Arden) was amazing- space, comfy bed and stunning bathroom, not forgetting the view out of the lounge area window and the remote control blind!!! Complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee are quality and fresh milk in the fridge is a definite bonus! We're going again!!!!

We called in for a bite to eat on our way to Cumbria. Wasn't disappointed fantastic food and lovely staff

Stopped over night and had a great time. The food was top notch and was reasonably priced all in all. The staff were second to none, they could not do enough for you and were very friendly. Definitely going back soon.

We have been going on a regular basis for the last few years and stopping over night in one of the Garden Rooms and enjoying a meal, quiet frankly one of the best pubs to enjoy a night of beer and good food and to relax. Now that we know the place allows hounds in the rooms and bar, Meg the Whippet will be visiting more as well



Excellent service from when you arrive till you leave

Stayed for one night (28 May). Beautiful village, lovely country inn, great staff, wonderful garden bedroom. Finally, one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. We will return.

Recommended to us and have to say not disappointed! Beautiful pub,oldie worldly but bang up to date with service,food,drinks and atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and such good value for money. Grounds are superb with beautiful views over North Yorkshire. Outside bedrooms in modern buildings and the bonus is the pub is dog friendly. Would have no hesitation in recommending a meal/stay here.

Our second visit to this wonderful place, we just love the garden rooms and the fantastic food. We will be back soon.

Only called in for a lager as I was staying nearby on a caravan site. Staff were friendly and I was surprised at the reasonable price of the lager at £5.50 for a pint and a half in what is obviously a gastrontype high end pub. Conversely at a hotel in centre of thirsk it was £2 more and served in poor glasses.

Just returned from a fantastic stay here. Amazing rooms and extremely helpful staff. The food is great and so much choice at breakfast. We will definitely be returning soon.

Had a lovely family meal here last night whilst away for the weekend. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would love to try out the hotel.

Great pub off the beaten track - but well worth finding too. We had a really good meal there with delicious food. After a day out in Scarborough we needed good food to fill us up! Good service and a nice atmosphere - listening to the locals was entertaining.

Great food, lovely staff and a fab view from the restaurant. We were lucky enough to get the corner table an it was beautiful outside. Great menu, lots of choice and first class taste. Reasonably priced too. A definite place to visit and return too.

found it last year when looking for somewhere to lunch.Have visited several times since .Although the food is good the service can be unpredictable but it’s worth a visit .Will certainly be back

My partner stopped here and asked for directions and he thought the bar staff were very helpful and the pub looked amazing . So we had a drive out on Sunday and had a fabulous afternoon sat drinking wine ( he was on coffee ) near the big log burning stove in a big arm chair the food looked amazing. Defiantly coming back for food with friends.
