The Chapel Choir Of Downing College, Cambridge Description
The Chapel Choir of Downing College, Cambridge, sings Evensong on Sundays during term-time at 6pm in the College Chapel, as well as Choral Compline twice a term. Its members are made up of Choral Scholars and volunteers from Downing, and volunteers from across the University.
The Choir also undertakes cathedral visits and gives concerts further afield, as well as a major international tour every two years.
The Organ Scholars are always pleased to hear from potential choral scholars or volunteers; if you are interested in auditioning to join the Choir, please contact Louisa Denby (lrd23@cam. ac. uk). Singers receive free Formal Hall after Evensong on Sundays, as well as free singing lessons throughout the academic year.

Our tour finished this evening with a joint concert with Szeged-based Argenteus Choir, to a packed audience in the spectacular New Synagogue in Szeged. A wonderful end to a great few days in Hungary!
Yesterday evening was spent singing Mass in the glorious acoustic of the Votive Church in Szeged, followed by a short concert. Here is a clip of Chris Hamilton’s short setting of “Ave Verum Corpus”, sung during the concert.

The Chapel Choir’s tour to Hungary began with a wonderful morning in Budapest, singing to a packed St Stephen’s Basilica for High Mass on national Holocaust Memorial Day. A fitting start to an exciting few days of singing in some of the finest venues in Budapest and Szeged.

It was a joy to welcome Queens' College Choir to sing Evensong with us to a packed Chapel yesterday evening. The sound of over 40 singers in the beautiful acoustic of the Chapel here was remarkable! We look forward to singing with them again soon.
