About The Children'S Society
We work with the most vulnerable young people. We listen. We support. We act. Because we believe no child should feel alone. IG: thechildrenssociety
The Children'S Society Description
The ChildrenŌĆÖs Society believes that childhood should be filled with optimism, hope and confidence for the future. We believe all young people should have this right, no matter what their circumstances.
However the reality for the most vulnerable young people means theyŌĆÖre living with hardship, abuse and neglect. Too many young people feel like they donŌĆÖt matter; they feel scared, unloved and their voices go unheard.
Driven by our belief and by young peopleŌĆÖs voices, we work with these young people, step by step, for as long as it takes. We fight to change the systems that are failing them. We listen to what young people have to say, to create life changing programmes in three areas:
┬Ę Improving access to mental health and well-being support
┬Ę Preventing and disrupting the exploitation of young people
┬Ę Tackling financial crisis and destitution faced by children and families
We listen, we support, we act.
Reviews
The government has made cuts to a scheme allocating child trafficking victims an advocate, meaning more than 1,000 young victims are set to lose out on this support.
Young people are often heavily criminalised in internal trafficking cases, and they need an advocate who can challenge this.

Local authorities face a ┬Ż3bn funding gap by 2025 just to maintain the current levels of service in childrenŌĆÖs social care. Since 2010, the Govt has significantly reduced the funding available for councils to deliver services that support children - the money provided does not meet the demand. Today's announcement of the #NHSLongTermPlan is hugely ambitious and we welcome the plan to reach all children in need of help over the next decade and introduce waiting time targets. There will be big challenges in making it a reality amid cuts to childrenŌĆÖs social care, chronic staff shortages and making sure money reaches the frontline. https://bit.ly/2FeXke5

From young boys raiding their piggy bank to help pay the heating bills or children not asking for Christmas presents - children are unsurprisingly adversely affected by their familyŌĆÖs money problems.
We know that it is critical to listen to what children have to say about their lives - what makes them happy and what we can improve for them and future generations.

Young people have been let down for too long when it comes to mental health. Many are unable to get the support they need or when they need it, while the Government has failed to deliver on promises. Urgent investment and meaningful action are needed. Without it more vulnerable children and their families wonŌĆÖt get the help they so desperately need
