Top food top service top of the chine

Took shelter on a very rainy afternoon for a beer or two. Enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere so much we stared for more drinks and lunch. Checked out the two course special offer and chose mains from it but unfortunately were all too full for dessert! Staff were friendly and welcoming - would definitely go there again. 👍

Really chilled atmosphere, great service , lovely food .

When you are going out for a night and you take a chance and try something new it’s great it lives up to your expectations.

Just had a really good lunch from the new vegan menu - great atmosphere, good beer and great to have a choice of vegan options. Definitely be back soon!

I love the Cliff great atmosphere great food and very efficient staff.

Having now attended The Cliff for several years, these are my thoughts.



1) the service is always top notch. Barmen are knowledgeable and friendly, waiting staff are diligent, management are very accommodating.



2) the atmosphere is lovely. It always feels like a nice place to be, regardless of the weather or the season. The decor is pleasant, and the overall ambience is extremely relaxing. Parking is ample but frequently full due to the well-deserved popularity of the place.



3) the food is really, really good. It's rare that a 'pub' (it's not really a pub, but it appears to be) serves such lovely food, but this stuff is always good. The menus are varied, they carry a good gluten free stock, the veggie options are pleasant and the portions are just right. Pricing is perfect.



Overall... it's a great place to be. I will carry on visiting often, and at any time of year.

Had an amazing meal here tonight - fantastic to have such a wonderful vegan choice - lucky to even get a choice in most places so to actually have a whole vegan menu was great - for once I wasn't made to feel like the award vegan who's gotta go with jacket potato and beans

Staff so happy and friendly- great eye candy from both sides of the table too �

Great choice of food, we had sea bass, salmon, southern fried chicken, gammon and halloumi. All empty plates, lovely meal and pleasant polite service

Fabulous food, fabulous staff, not overpriced, really enjoyed our meal, we will be back

Booked a table about an hour before via the phone system that was very straight forward. Promptly sat on arrival and ordered. Food came out in a timely manner and was very good I had the Brie starter and Venison main and finished with the crumble all excellent. Really nice atmosphere would certainly visit again.

Another great meal at the cliff. Wife and I love the atmosphere. Foods great and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable

had a very lovely vegan burger here early Friday evening although the bar seemed understaffed.

Nice atmosphere,good service ,my burger wasn't the best (dry bun) wrong choice because my wife's chicken was superb ( so she said) sweets ,or pudding depending on where you come from,to die for.

We chose from the set lunch menu that was handed to us by the waitress, only to be told when the bill came (which was double) we didn't actually choose from the set menu as there wasn't an astirx next to the dishes we had ordered. This had not been made clear by the staff at all. Also the wrong wine was put on the table and when she only poured 1 glass mine was left empty.

Food very average, absolutely disgusted by the £9 charge for a 2 year olds main meal!!

Have had nice meals here in the past but unfortunately after tonight’s experience we wont rush back!

Booked a table for lunch yesterday. Booking was easy, the food was lovely and the service was spot on.



However, I think The Cliff has a wasp problem. First we sat outside but after 20 minutes of constantly having to fight off wasps and seeing other tables doing the same, we asked to be moved inside.



Only 1 wasp inside...but still, it was really annoying and quite a stressful lunch to be honest



Sadly we won’t be going back this summer...perhaps when the weather cools down and the wasps have gone �

Saturdays dinner..It was a bit shambolic having booked at 8.30pm to eventually receiving main meals at 10.15pm! Watched other dinners seated after us eat before our table. Dishes were partly available then not available then delivered part cold,onions used as a bulker to potatoes!( Tragic food management and ordering on the kitchens behalf the chef should have appologised not the front of house, they took the flack well however.)

To be fair they did offer a comp bottle of Procecco but only one diner was drinking that, which was then exchanged to a bottle of red which we left.The meal was eventually comp'd after two of our party left without dinner. Guests traveled down from London for this!...Truely disappointing and in fairness very out of the norm...

The Cliff what went wrong?

Nice place, staff lovely but the food had something to be desired. Went for Sunday lunch with my partner and in-laws and wanted to impress them. My main concern was the main course..... cold plates, barely hot food, all vegetables pretty hard (not cooked enough) and I don't mind z little al dented parsnips, roast potatoes needed crisping up a little and cabbage actually cooked. No offer of extra gravy you just got a little poured over the meal. The Yorkshire pudding well when you put your knife through it, it just crisped to nothing and no gravy to soak it through. Such a shame as I have heard good things about the restaurant. When reading reviews of others they are all spot on. The friendly staff Devi saved the day.
