Yes a decent pub with good beer only downside the Royal wedding was on,

We visited this Pub during a City Wonder beer tour. Being American, I knew before hand the beers in the U.K. are a little different; but in a good way. The beer and food samples we had were awesome. As far as the tour goes, you get plenty for your money. We couldn't even finish what they gave us before they offered more beer off the menu after the sampling was over!



I also notice one distinct difference from traditional English style fish that you don't taste in America. In the U.S., the batter is often salty. Which I think most like. Here, the batter isn't very salty at all, but I think it actually works well because you can taste more of the beer in the batter itself.

We popped in from the cold & two bottles of fizz later plus yummy garlic bread & fat chips with mayo for 4...had a fab time & we loved the Uber friendly Italian barman from Naples... he is a star!! Thanks for a lovely afternoon ... we will be back xx������

Really like the Coal Hole. Great atmosphere and large selection of beers. It’s ideally placed for theatre land and a stop off for refreshment if you are visiting Covent Garden.

My favourite pub in London! I have been visiting The Coal Hole for years and will do for many more. If you like real ale this is the place to be and they also do a fantastic fish and chips .....that I always wash down with a pint of Doom bar.

I called into the Coal Hole with my Sister for lunch before going to see Mamma Mia, we both had Fish and Chips, wonderful food, we were not able to fit in a pudd as we were so full! Definitely deserves 5 stars

Came for a few Gins and a light lunch for a Girly day out loved the pub the staff were all lovely and friendly great atmosphere and our sandwiches were great all served with fries or chips and very tasty will visit you again when in London

Always go to the Coal Hole when I'm in London. Friendly staff, good food, great atmosphere and they serve the best white wine spritzer, haven't found one to top it yet!

A great pub on the Strand in London with a great selection of beers. Serves good food too.

Really nice pub with great atmosphere and lovely decorations and I was very excited to see a fantastic gin list all with different styles of serving in the appropriate way. However I was very disappointed when we went to order and was told sorry but we only have one type of tonic and lemon or lime!! Don't advertise a gin bar and how it should be served if you can't follow through! Good beers though!

I visited the coal hole for the 1st time yesterday afternoon , lovely pub with a nice London vibe .We only had a pint as we were stretched for time, but could easily spend a few hours in there .When I'm back in London and the area I will defo pop in for a couple :)

Had a great lunch here. First pint there in 31 years. Still a great pub. Missed not being able to have a ploughman's lunch .....but that was in 1986. Cheers Coal Hole.

Great place for a drink. Steady turn around of customers all day and every day. A place I always try and have a beer at for the past thirty years. Some great memories. With friends and colleagues. Past and present. Keith Lawson and Ray and many more from Gardener Merchant, KIS, and Sodexo. Davy Rhodes at the London Poker festivals. David McRae, Brian Ewen, Dougie and Yorum at Hotelolympia , and family Kay, Billy, and loads more. Always a must visit venue. And some good food also.

Great Atmosphere very busy staff working very hard but needed another one or Two as waited over 5mins to get severed it was 1.30 in the afternoon.And Toilets down stairs hard work �But a lovely place

I had the worst meal ever. Ordered gammon steak two eggs chips and peas. It arrived looked okay except one dried up egg, when I looked at the underside of the gammon it was like charcoal. I went and found the waiter, who took it away as I asked for another Gammon this arrived gammon cooked okay but the two eggs were burnt at edges and the yokes solid. The service by the waiter was very good but the chef needs lessons in cooking!!!

Been to the coal hole many times.. this was the worst experience, food order wrong, but we were tight for time. Also a drinks order wrong... apart from that, all was well !!!!

Waited an hour for food and had to cancel or we would have been late for the theatre. The waitresses were totally miserable and did not smile throughout.

Our worst dining experience in London. I’m embarrassed for the restaurant for even bringing the horse feed they brought out of the kitchen after 45 minutes.
