About The Cockpit

A flexible fringe venue in Marylebone. We host music, comedy, dance, theatre. . . and now, because we can't have anything on our stage, we're bringing the stage to you and taking it all online!
We also produce @JustOffChurchSt - A new community channel.

A few shots from inside the rehearsal room where Adaptivity Theatre Company are creating their new take on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing - with our obsession with social media as their central theme. Catch it here from 20th June.

"When viewed through a contemporary lens, this play seems to be inspired by one alternative title: Much Ado About Noting. During the English Renaissance, ‘noting’ (meaning rumour or overhearing) sounded very similar to ‘nothing’, used in the title of the play. It’s through noting that Benedick and Beatrice are tricked into professing their love for each other and by founding his belief on nothing, Claudio is tricked into refusing to marry Hero. This word play has inspired the unusual title for this production, Much Ado About Not(h)ing, the use of the parenthesis indicating that the ‘h’ in the word ‘nothing’ can be retained or deleted: noting or nothing." Kelly Wison of Adaptivity Theatre Company

We (David, Anna and Community Champions Randa and Selma) held our first Nature Keepers pop-up barrow at Church Street Market last Saturday. It was brilliant. We offered herbal tea infusions, Nettle, Sage and Rosemary fresh from an allotment, and (despite Ramadan) many people took herbs home to infuse later. We planted out sweet peas and folk mapped their nature spots on the local area map David made. People pledged and loved it. All part of our collaborative community Nature Keepers London Festival. Success! :-) http://thecockpit.org.uk/NatureKeepersFes tival
