Wonderful place with friendly staff. Totally gluten free kitchen and dogs more than welcome. The puddings are amazing.

What a revelation this place is! Was in the area visiting a family member, all eager for a Sunday Roast and I'm so glad we decided to give this a try. Amazing food, delicious choice of roast options, kids options and yummy (naughty) puddings. Dog friendly with in-house 'boss' Boris the Jack Russell. Will definitely go back if we come down to the New Forest again. Thoroughly recommended.

We’ve just got home from the monthly dog walk and roast dinner and what a lovely day we’ve had. Lovely bunch of people and well organized with great food! We will definitely be back!

We thought we would drive to this pub yesterday after seeing it advertised on fb . My husband has been a coeliac since a baby and we are increasingly finding it harder and harder to eat out at large chain restaurants/bars as they seem to be going backwards rather than forwards with there gluten free menu by using battered chips etc. He was like a little kid in a sweet shop when he saw the menu, we had starters which we have never had before when out so this was a treat for me too. Both meals were served promptly and absolutely lovely and great portion sizes too. We were a bit shocked with the decor as it was dated .. but this was a great conversation starter reminiscing about our grandparents cos they had the same place mats ... we will definitely be back .. and thanks cos now I have to make him a steak and ale pie lol

Serendipity brought me to the compass. When my hotel couldn't feed me, I Google gluten free and there it was just 2 miles away. I was super excited about going once I had seen it. I wasn't disappointed. The place looks lovely and the food was fantastic, also very reasonable pricing for anywhere but especially for gluten free. I'm not a dog person being allergic to them, but all the dogs were well behaved so that shouldn't put anyone off. The staff were really busy but still friendly and served us in good time. I will definitely visit again as it is certainly worth the drive (2h). I'll try and leave room for pudding next time.

Really lovely meal and hospitality. Flo made sure we had a pleasant evening and enjoyable meal. Generous portions of tasty food and sensible prices - had to take advantage of the £1 pudding too. Plenty of choice for everyone, we didn’t specifically a gluten free meal but saw this was well rated and thought we’d give it a go. Highly recommend!

One of my fav places to eat. Real pub atmosphere with delicious food (massive portions) and super friendly staff.

Nice countrified Pub, lovely atmosphere and if you like Dogs they are very welcome. We had our Easter dinner there, i had lamb shank which was very tender - the meat fell off. All the food here is Gluten free.

My favourite place to eat with my family. As a person with coeliac disease, this is the one restaurant locally where I can feel 100% safe in ordering my food, with no fear of cross contamination. Being able to choose from a whole menu of food is so exciting and so rare! Not to mention that the food is excellent and the whole family enjoys it. Thank you for making a difference.

At last, a 100% gluten-free pub! As a coeliac I felt ‘normal’ again without having to ask for the ‘special’ spreadsheet menu.

Food was really excellent and service quick despite being quite busy.

Great to be able to have a steak and ale pie again; followed by a steamed-jam pudding with custard for only £1 !

Can’t wait to go back.

User

We went to the Compass today for a family meal and I couldn’t fault the food (we had a roast dinner) or the service. Staff were friendly and the surroundings were pleasant.

There were a few abruptly worded signs regarding children - which I suppose is fair enough as I understand from our visit that the pub is not geared toward families. I’d recommend it for couples but probably wouldn’t go back with my younger children for fear that they’d be too loud (they’re 2 and 4).
