Hello Bank Holiday Weekend!!! 🍺🍻

User

Our ninth beer festival raising money for Farleigh Hospice has been a tremendous success! Over the years the community of Littley Green with help from the pub has raised over Β£40,000 for Farleigh, a massive achievement for such a worthy charity and such a small community.
Big thank you to everyone involved, all the volunteers, the village, our staff, you guys, without all of you this event would not be a success!
You came out in force and we hope you enjoyed the Celtic real ...ales, ciders, BBQ, music and the charity stalls.
We will announce how much has been raised this year very soon!
Thank you all. πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚

Hi all!
Our annual cry out! Our charity Beer Festival is just days away (exciting!). Can you help? We are collecting for the tombola stall, Bric a Brac stall and cake stall; if you have items you would like to donate, please drop them in at the pub. Cakes and cupcakes can be dropped off the day before and all over the weekend. If you can spare a few hours to volunteer on the stalls please contact the pub, thank you. All money raised goes to Farleigh Hospice.

We only stayed the one night but the room was perfect and great value for money. The pub itself we found very friendly and the food was great and again good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again..

We live in Cumbria but are originally from Essex and come down to visit family regularly. It is our destination of choice. Great rooms, great food. Always made to feel welcome. Love the location too.

User

The Compasses is one of the best pubs anywhere and people travel from near and far to experience the great beers, fabulous and reasonably priced menu and the wonderful staff - and the special events like the Easter Steam Up and Hopstock in August are real magnets. If only all villages were fortunate enough to have such a centre for the community!

User

Stayed here the other weekend as was going to a friends wedding at nearby Leez Priory. Looked fab as soon as we drove up. The room was lovely, very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was great too. Pub lunch was yummy! Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely go back. Thank you x

User

Second timed we have visited The Compasses Inn, this time we had a meal and can only say this place is excellent for food and beer/cider.

P.S We live in Sweden and unfortunately we can only make this visit once a year.

User

Sat infront of the fire on last nights snowy evening and enjoyed the most amazing Seabass! Thank you Gus! Then we enjoyed Dave on the piano! πŸ˜ƒ

Just had the best weekend staying here. It's our favourite place and the room was beautiful and they allow dogs. The staff are very friendly, great food and beer. Highly recommend. We drove 4 hours from North Yorkshire will definitely be back.

User

I try to visit The Compasses whenever I stay with my brother in Braintree. We went yesterday and as usual the beer was varied and well kept, the food was fabulous and the atmosphere was wonderful.

User

I go there whenever I can. I go once a month ,at least, for the folk evening.

I love this place. Excellent food and beers. Great staff as well. I went there one summer evening last year with my wife. We ordered drinks and went and sat in the garden. The birds were singing, including a nightingale and the sounds of the countryside were all around. A cock pheasant called from across the fields. Nothing could be more Olde England. Fine ale and two lovely huffers on the table. But it got better. As we were leaving Thaxted Morris Men turned up and started dancing. So we had to stay and watch them. Perfect!!

User

Great selection of real ales and ciders, served "from the wood" and you can look through a window to see them resting in the tap room. Pub of the year 2017. All the usual pub meals plus their local speciality: Huffers. Traction engines at Easter.

User

Great food, beer and accommodation, friendly staff

User

Gem of a place. Like stepping back in time. Great food and ales. Roll on summer! πŸ‘πŸ»

After a long walk on sunday with our dog, we went into The Compasses for a bite to eat and a drink. It was full to bursting which was great to see but we luckily found a table after a little wait. The pub is really dog friendly and all the staff are very welcoming and lovely. We enjoyed a drink while we waited for our food which was vegetable Wellington which we were told would take a little longer as it was being cooked from scratch, wonderful! It was absolutely worth the wait, gorgeous fresh food, piping hot!

Highly recommend this fantastic pub, especially if you want somewhere to go with your dog. The cider/beer festival in Aug is great too x

User

A traditional pub with good beer, good food, and the staff are not that bad either lol. Went for the steam up, but the weather curtailed that a bit, and so had to drink more beer in the pub!
