So the centre is closed on a Sunday but we were still working as usual ☺. Had a lovely Bootsale, which was nice and busy. Then in for a spot of lunch. Then had go to tesco as I had forgotten to order oranges on my delivery for the parrots lol. Then back, fed the animals, then had a quick dinner and then went for a walk around the lakes. Really should try and do this more often....... The lakes are lovely.

Happening tomorrow ☺

Look what's just arrived. A young male peregrine. Was found in a supermarket carpark in Penzance. The gentleman that contacted us had tried his local vet, but they wouldn't see it unless he had a log number from the RSPCA, and he could not get though to the RSPCA at all 😡. Will keep you all updated on his progress.

Happening this Sunday ☺

User

So again on a so called 'day off'. We didn't leave the site, as there is always so much to do.
Who remembers the poorly dove that was handed in a while ago? Well he was released today in our back garden. Fly free little one. ☺

** UPDATE ** The poorly sparrowhawk has sadly passed away 😔
Just had a male sparrowhawk brought in from Penmellyn vets in St Columb. His had a head trauma by the look of his eye. Probably flown into a window 😔. He has had treatment and has been brought to us for a bit of TLC, a good feed and then all being well, release. If anyone would like to support the work we do please click on the link below: https://www.gofundme.com/rescued-birds

Could u spare the time to help??

User

Had what I believed to be a Shearwater, but as usual I'm wrong.......apparently was a Grebe bought in. I drove straight to tesco to get some fresh sprats. Got home and he has died 😔 😔.

User

Evening all, a quick question for u.
What things could we improve at the centre or what would you like to see at the centre ......?? Please please just sensible suggestions.....☺!! We've not had a great season due to the hot weather........ and everyone heading to the beach 🏖 .....!!!! So please keep ideas and suggestions realistic and as cheap as possible. Thank u in advance. Kelly and Andy ☺

Another bird arrived needing a forever home today. Please let me introduce Chlo the Military Macaw. Hopefully she will enjoy her life here with us and eventually be introduced to the macaw avairy. If you would like to adopt her then please get in touch. It costs just £35 a year. You will get a plaque erected in front of the aviary, two free passes into the centre, a certificate of adoption and a picture of Chlo. ☺

User

*** NEW UPDATE ***
Stamp is now out in an avairy ☺
** UPDATE **
... Stamps had a good night and is eating on his own. Still early days but going in the right direction. 🤞
Just had a poorly buzzard bought in named Stamps. Very underweight and covered in mites 😔. The next 24/48hrs is crucial ☺

User

We had a wonderful visit .Stayed there for 4 hours and managed to watch both bird displays which were fantastic .

User

Today we visited with my 3 year old niece, she loved the Cockatiels, the swings and riding her bike around the car park!!, Her Grandparents and Aunty, however loved the Cockatiels, the owls, the buzzards, the ferrets, the ponies, the pig, the most beautiful Golden eagle Flo....and all the other very happy and relaxed animals at the centre. Would recommend a visit by anyone, read the stories of these birds, watch the displays!! Enlightening and a truly rewarding day out.

User

Today me and my husband visited your birds of prey has we did 2 years ago and still love what you do and the love watching you fly the birds . Most definitely we will visit again next time we are down cornwall. Thanks for a great display and talk on your birds. Shirley and Mark Francis.

Really enjoyed our time at the Cornish birds of prey centre. Andy is very passionate about all his birds and indeed all wildlife. Never a bad animal only bad people, I liked that. It is so true. He is extremely knowledgeable and honest. We particularly liked the what you don’t normally see part of the display with a new Harris hawk being shown early in its training. The birds don’t just naturally fly from perch to glove, they need some training. The falcons flying over and between the spectators is stunning to behold and Popeye is, as stated a little suicidal. With wingtips touching spectators. A family who all get involved is so good to see and they are all very welcoming. Apart from birds of prey there is much more to see and do, the various parrots and cockatoos welcome you with ‘hello’ and say ‘goodbye’ as you turn to leave. Fantastic place. We Look forward to a return visit.

User

Myself and my husband absolutely enjoyed our time here!! The owners Kelly and Andy put an incredible amount of work in. A once of a life time oppunitity to see the most wonderful and amazing birds you could ever see!! My husband did a half day falconey course and he loved it!! This bird centre gives the birds a chance at life!! I learnt so much about these amazing birds and it is so interesting to see ! They have a great cafe and a little gift shop, where I brought some amazing things!! Kelly and Andy are so friendly and lovely to speak too!! This is the best one in Cornwall and we are definitely be coming back!! Thank you so much and your doing such an amazing job Kelly and Andy!!

User

More to see than you may expect. I love the goats and Ant & Dec the cows! Great for a bit of exotic bird watching. You can get really close and see all the birds in super detail.

User

We will definitely be coming back each time we come to Cornwall Xx

User

Love visiting here when we are down. Passionate and knowledgable. Lots of improvements going on so you can see these guys want the best for their birds. Highly recommended.

User

I had been bought a falconry experience with another company for my 50th but was left extremely disappointed as the guy turned out to be a fraud . Hence I was really excited to do the one to one experience at the Birds of Prey Centre. Absolutely loved it! Andy was passionate about the birds & what he does & I learnt so much - I have always loved spotting these beauties in the wild but didn’t really know much about them. Andy showed me how the birds were fed & how they were tracked. I got to handle various birds including falcons & a stunning little American kestrel then I flew Jacob the Harris Hawk. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t suitable to fly outdoors but the centre has a massive barn which Andy told me is the biggest indoor flying space in the UK.

I felt very emotional & it was a privilege to get so close to the birds that I have always connected to from a distance. I would 100% do it again & maybe next time handle & fly the owls. Thank you to Andy & also to Kelly for being so welcoming

User

I can't thank Kelly and Andy enough for my half day falconry experience. It was absolutely wonderful - such much so that when we called into the Tourist Information Office in Padstow I told the staff that they needed to put you on their list of places people absolutely must visit. One of the staff there actually said she'd been planning on visiting for a while and she will definitely come and see you soon. I do hope she does and that they send more people your way.

User

Had such a nice time visiting today, there's so much to see! Timed it well and got to see a gun dog display as well as falconry. Will definitely be back again

User

Had a fantastic time with the birds of prey. Andy is very knowledgeable and passionate about his birds and a nice fella too. Makes you feel very welcome and would definitely recommend you go if you have an interest in birds of prey. It's a family run business and is very well run.

User

Amazing place to spend a few hours. Lots of different birds of prey to learn about alongside a few other rescue animals. Very interesting flying displays made all the better by Andy's obvious passion for his work, his caring for the birds and overall knowledge of the subject. Lovely lake for a wander round and a little cafe for some refreshment.

User

Absolutely brilliant place. Very knowledge owner who really cares about his birds. Loved the thoughtfulness of having shaded kennels to put your dog in whilst you explore the centre. Will definitely come back.

User

A lovely place to visit, to learn more about various birds of prey and the stories of those on display. The owners clearly are passionate and dedicated and want to share these beautiful creatures.

User

very disappointed to see the post slating a local vet that had a bird rushed to them today , hardly very professional. This post will discourage people from contacting you in the future if they come across a bird needing help , it has me thats for sure ,

User

Screech owl sanctuary gave an injured bird I found 12 months to recover to be released back to the wild, you gave a buzzard that was eating and drinking less than a few hours until you killed it without trying enough ...... and then acted completely unprofessionally on social network sites by slating the vet the bird was taken too who asked for your help

It appears you cannot accept responsibility for your own failings. I have visited your establishment and have seen first hand that the 'look' is more important than the care, we were shocked at the poor standards and the lack of knowledge regarding your charges from yourself and your staff, that we are compelled to write a report. And yesterdays episode where your motives were bought into question by an individual, who has proof of your lies, instead of addressing the matter, you chose to remove her comments, when in fact your statement should have been removed and a public apology issued to those whom you have pointed a tarnished finger at. Take responsibility for your actions for goodness sake, you are not a child. Our report will be added to the ever expanding complaint that will be going to the CC as your 'community-based' CIC, Is anything but. Very disappointed and concerned, mostly for the animals in your care, but your attitude leaves a lot to be desired as well.
