And the last cake of the weekend, a tall buttercream cake, lemon and raspberry flavour, complete with a gold chocolate drip just decorating one side. The birthday girl is very keen on her makeup, which was made the theme, make up brushes, eye shadow, foundation and make up applicators, all hand made..the eyeshadows were given a finsh with lustre dust to make them look more realistic. The cake was finished with dark chocolate bars, some fresh strawberries, drizzled with dark and white chocolate, a gold glitzy personalised topper, sugar flowers and a few gold sprinkles. Peter Rabbit with a twist ­¤śä­¤śä­¤śä Made for a baby shower ..gender unknown, so the cake is made with a lemon coloured icing base and the question 'what will it bee?' Featured on the top, along with some cute buzzy bees and daisies, decorating the top and sides of the cake. Peter and Flopsy finish the look.

Cake number 3, and I think, my new favourite, is this Guess How Much I Love You Christening Cake. IŌĆÖve never been asked to make this theme before...and canŌĆÖt wait to make another! ŌØż’ĖÅŌØż’ĖÅŌØż’ĖÅŌØż’ĖÅŌØż’ĖÅ A very pale sage green base icing, was lightly painted...really given a light wash...around the top, in a sky blue. Grass details then painted and also added in icing, with fence and gate details also added in icing, then painted over. Handmade clouds, stars and the moon, along with a ha...ndmade hare, holding the baby hare, decorate the top of the cake. I also added another hare to the side, standing on a tree stump, depicting a scene from the book. I did cheat with the writing on the side, this is a printed icing sheet, cut to size...if you could see my awful writing....(I was blessed with a ŌĆśspiders crawled across the pageŌĆÖ sort of handwriting!) you would forgive me the cheat...it would have ruined an otherwise lovely design. Love it!

2nd cake completed yesterday, a blast from the past, thatŌĆÖs come around again, for another generation TMNT! They are all in there ­¤śü, hidden under the drain cover! First cake completed yesterday, this Disney themed cake, made for twins..a girl and a boy ! ­¤ÆĢ­¤ÆĢ­¤ÆĢ A second attempt at Mickey and first attempt at Minnie Mouse, the request was for a brightly coloured cake, to suit each twin. My favourite part of making my cakes, isn't the baking...it is making the decorations to go on the cakes and putting the cake together at the end of the whole process...and making children's cakes are very special to me, especially if it is a first birthday, Christening or baby shower. Although I'm well practiced in making Peter Rabbit..he's very popular you know ŌØż’ĖÅŌØż’ĖÅŌØż’ĖÅ ­¤śä­¤śä­¤śä, I've never made this character before..hopefully you will recognise it from the lovely Guess how Much I love You story.
He is purposely armless at the moment, because he will have a baby hare in his arms when he's finished...and needs to firm up before I can add the little cutie...all to go on top of a Christening cake at the weekend. Can't wait to finish the cake now! ­¤ÆĢ­¤ÆĢ­¤ÆĢ

Coming up this week, a baby shower cake, featuring among other things Peter Rabbit..but this one is with a twist, a Mickie and Minnie Mouse cake, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Guess How Much I Love You Christening Cake...another first for me and a 30th Birhtday cake, which I canŌĆÖt say too much about until after the event. IŌĆÖm almost there with all the decorations for each cake, all the boards are iced, so tomorrow itŌĆÖs baking time!

The theme requested for this 2 tier wedding cake, was a beach/surfing theme...Evie is a keen surfer and wanted to reflect this in the cake design...the wedding took place at The Headland Hotel, Newquay. The cake, 2 tiers of chocolate orange sponge and dark chocolate orange flavour ganache, was covered in white sugarpaste, which was handpainted in a turquoise colour to mimic the sea, handcut waves added and then painted with tiny strokes of white to mimic the waves breaking. T...he seashells are all hand made/hand rolled...I even made my own mould to make the larger scallop shells. The cake is finished with toppers of the happy couple, on a beach, wearing their wedding outfits, Evie holding her own surf board.

IŌĆÖm been up since silly oŌĆÖclock (5) finishing a wedding cake..almost done, time to sit down for a cuppa....another busy day ahead, with 2 wedding consultations this afternoon, so I will be baking cupcakes in a variety of flavours later on this morning.
In the meantime, hereŌĆÖs another cake I completed yesterday, a mix of transformers and P J Masks....all another first for me. All the characters were hand cut.just using a paper template I printed off the net.... The cake was completed on collection with a Transformer topper, supplied by the customer..so the first few pics are before it left me and the last, on arrival at its destination. Meet the gorgeous Skye (blue eyes)and Zeus (brown eyes)... I have made these beautiful creatures once before, they were sat on the top of a birthday cake....hoping the 3D versions are an improvement on my last attempt. This time individual cupcakes were requested.....and they couldnŌĆÖt wait to get out of their boxes! The ever popular Peter Rabbit, this time made for a little boys first birthday. Happy Birthday Isaac! ŌØż’ĖÅ­¤śäŌØż’ĖÅ I just wanted to add, this was the cake i was struggling with, getting a good finish on the sugar paste/fondant...this heat is a pain in the neck to be frank...thankfully, it seems to be a bit cooler today, so the 3 cakes I worked on this morning went a bit 'smoother'! ­¤ś¼­¤ś¼­¤ś¼­¤śä­¤śä­¤śä

I'm not one to normally leave reviews, however I felt I needed to on this occasion. I asked julie to make a ghostbusters cake for my little boys 6th birthday.....WOW it was amazing. The detail was on point and was exactly, if not better than I'd expected. Not only did it look good, but it tasted lovely too. She was so professional from start to finish. Her passion is clearly visible in her work. Thank you again for an amazing cake.

I can't recommend highly enough, the detail on the cake is amazing, a true talent, if you are looking for a great cake this is the place to go, will definitely be getting more cakes from Julie.

The fact is we use Julie every single time we need a special cake - and also boozy Christmas cakes too....



The big problem now is that we have to order further and further in advance as her skills and reputation spread - so don't leave it to the last minute !!



Don't expect a wonderful creation for cheapness though - skills like these have to be paid for and the time involved means that you need to be prepared!!
