The Cosener'S House Description
The Cosener's House occupies a picturesque Thames-side position in the grounds of the mediaeval Abbey of Abingdon, 8 miles from Oxford. We are the conference & accommodation centre of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory with 50 bedrooms, 5 meeting rooms and a light and airy modern dining room offering great views of the gardens and the Thames.
It takes its name from the Cuisinier or Kitchener (the official responsible for providing food for the Abbey). The older part of the present building is the central portion which dates from the mid-eighteenth century. The east wing was built in the nineteenth century while the rest is modern. The Hotel’s sympathetic blend of old and new architecture means we can provide a stylish and comfortable setting for your wedding.
