About The Cotton House Crafters

Here at Cotton House Crafters we are passionate about ALL THINGS CRAFT.

The Cotton House Crafters Description

Crafty Beggars was born following one of our regular crafty session meet ups. It came into conversation that it was a shame that we didn't have a group around here that ran craft sessions. Living in a rural area we thought that there would be a lot more crafters about and so the idea was born to set up a club.

Well, we hope it will be more than a club. It seems our passions run deep and we are brimming with ideas of different projects to teach all you lucky crafty /wanna be crafty folk.

So, here's the plan. We have arranged with the lovely Jackie over at our venue to run a series of regular craft workshops. Each week we plan on bringing a new project for you to get your teeth /mitts stuck in to. We will teach you new skills, help improve and home in on your existing ones and hopefully form friendships and have a few giggles along the way.

We intend to run tutor led workshops in all manners of craft, covering crochet, knitting, rag rugging, paper crafts, sewing, needle work and many more. We also plan to home in on more specific projects like the Upcoming Festive Season! (Oh just a word of warning, we are also VERY passionate about CHRISTMAS, so please bare with us if we burst into carol singing).

One thing we like is surprise. So it is our plan to keep an element of surprise about our workshops. Each week we will have a different project, one that you will take home complete at the end of the session. At the end of the evening we will give a brief outline of the next week, we will let you know if we want you to bring something specific in but we also want to keep an element of surprise what you will be taking away with you. We also welcome student input so if there is a specific thing you would like to cover, attempt or return to please feel free to let us know.

Each week we will provide you with the materials you need to complete the project, plus a detailed pattern you can take home and repeat until your little crafty hearts complete.
These kit bags will be lovingly made up for each of you before and will carry a small charge. (Please note the charge will vary depending on the size of the project).

We want our workshops to be accessible for everyone so our charges will be small, to cover the cost of the venue, materials and a little for our time. Workshop fee will be £4. 50 for adults and we welcome children of a minimum age of 12 to attend. Anyone between the ages of 12-16 will be charged a £2. 50, plus the normal material cost.

Depending upon numbers we intend to put on two workshops a week. Numbers will be limited, so please message if interested in joining us so we can tally up our end. This will also help us to make up enough kit bags for everyone and prepare for the upcoming weeks.

Before I finish I just want to introduce you to the founders of Crafty Beggars. I will keep it short as hopefully you will get to know us better over the coming weeks.

My name is Katie (you may have contacted me through facebook already and know me as Kate) please feel free to call me either. Some of you may recognise me as your local dental nurse. I work full time during the week looking after patients and their teeth. I Love Nursing!
I have an art /textile background and I loveeee crochet, i'm hooked. Pardon the pun! I adore seeing an ordinary ball of wool turn into something extraordinary. I, just like Sam, love anything crafty and you'll find me getting my hands dirty in whatever I can find be it glue, paint, mud foraging for pine cones, anything!

Sam, also works full time during the week as a Nurse. (See you're in very good hands with us). She is the avid knitter of this partnership. She loves making things crafty and also bakes a great cake! Trust me, I've tried my fair share of them. They're fab! She also makes a cracking sloe gin. . . . .

Please feel free to contact us on here should you have any questions.

We are aiming to run our first workshop on Monday the 9th of November with a second running on Wednesday the 11th of November. Please get in touch with us if you would like to book onto one of these workshops so we can get an idea of numbers. We will send out a detailed email to all for the first week with further details.

We look forward to welcoming you to Crafty Beggars and hope you will join us in creating unique and beautiful projects!

Katie and Sam.
