We went for a night away (without kids!), and only 30 mins up the road, as we didn’t fancy going in to London. I had heard great reviews as a gastro pub, but this place is a hidden gem, so much better than I expected, location, food, and the service is second to none, if you stay ask for room 17 everything was perfect. Highly recommend, we’re already planning when we can return

We visited for my birthday, we loved it! The food was beautiful tasty and we'll presented.

The staff were nice and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. And we didn't fill rushed. One other point I'd like to make is the waiting staff new their menu. As we had a few questions and they were able to advised us. Good value for money. Ample parking Nice country decor. My only down side it's not near by were we live. We will be back to visit. Thankyou.

User

We stayed the night in a modern and beautiful decorated room that provides on every level. A Warm, relaxed, friendly, welcoming and efficient check in, pre dinner bar , evening meal, breakfast and check out service. A truly mouthwatering evening menu that made for a suitably tricky choice and went on to deliver above and beyond expectations! Finally, hats off and complete respect for remaining fairly priced. These are just some of the reasons we would highly recommend The Cricketers to all. You clearly have a dream team running in perfect sync with great management. Well done and Thank you! We shall be back in the near future

User

We cycled to the cricketers. We had visited 3 pubs before we got there only to find that each one was not doing food. All 3 were unapologetic even though they advertised that they did do it. When we got to the cricketers there was an immediate greeting and we were given a menu with a smile and a welcome. Liz had a fabulous duck salad and I had the steak and ale pie. I waited with baited breath to see if it was going to be an proper pie or if it was going to be one of those monstrosities that are just a disc of puff pastry on a pot of stew. I wasn’t disappointed. Proper pie with lean steak filling and lots of lovely gravy.

The beer was great too. The only problem was it was such a lovely venue that we stayed too long and had to cycle home in the dark.

User

Very welcoming, even though we arrived at 2.25pm, 5 minutes before they stopped serving food from the menu (although would still be serving pizzas).

We ordered quickly and were not made to feel this was too much trouble at all!

All our meals were beautifully presented and mine certainly tasted delicious! (chicken supreme). We were pleasantly surprised by the price which was not excessive for the quality of the food.

We took my 80-year old mother and 15 year-old niece and both could find something they liked on the menu.

In short, was a fab experience and would definitely go back again even though is 1 and 1/2 hours from Mother's!

User

Took my dad along today for a Father’s Day meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service, the food - the whole experience was perfect! Thank you

User

Stopped for coffee and cake on Sunday morning bike ride, had the most divine red velvet cake.....super lush and saved the day 🍰😘👍😋

User

Lovely place to stay, the breakfast was delicious and the staff were very nice, will definitely go back.

User

Just back from a lovely stay. We had rooms 15, 16 and 17 all 3 rooms were immaculate and very comfy. The pub is absolutely gorgeous, cosy, with log fires and comfy seating. The ceilings are really low in parts but thankfully we aren’t vertically challenged so wasn’t an issue! The food was delicious and the portions huge. A relaxing stay, made better by the amazing staff, so friendly and very knowledgable with the menu which is great when everything sounds delicious you don’t know what to choose! We have no idea how we managed to eat the breakfast after our three course meal the night before but we managed! Delicious again, We shall be Back!

User

I’ve been here a few times with my wife, staying over every time. The food is great, the bedrooms are cozy and very clean, and staff are very friendly and helpful (Ed was our waiter last time we went and he was great!). Although I’m a meat eater, their menu caters very well for vegetarians with some really tasty dishes.

I can thoroughly recommend the place and look forward to when we have the opportunity to go there again.

We had been here before and really liked it, unfortunately our Sunday Lunch we had on this recent visit was very disappointing. We both had roast beef which was chewy and not very nice and the roast potatoes were also not good. Thought it overpriced for what we had. Want bother again.
