Drinker's pub with great food and a huge garden
Reviews
With no Premier League this weekend, our thoughts are drifting towards the 6 Nations. Always a great atmosphere for the big games. And we've got it covered on 6 screens
Liverpool Arsenal. On at 5.30. Even in the garden
If you want pills and tech house - piss off over to Hackney Wick
Spurs Inter Liverpool PSG - There's a lotta European football on tonight. Starting at 6pm. Inside and in the garden
Last of the Summer Swine. This may be the last weekend of fine weather before we start to close up the garden. We've invited down 2 of London's finest record pickers along- Justin Robertson and Scott Fraser. The bar is open till 1am and we're putting on a mighty fine Hog Roast. See you on Saturday
We're on the scout for a senior bar person/supervisor. Anyone out there that knows how to do a bit more than pull a pint?
As summer slips away we are having one last hurrah in the garden. Set your dairies for Sat Sept 15th. Hog Roast (with a Jack Fruit BBQ too), whisky cocktails and Mr Justin Robertson DJing. Last of the Summer Swine
Its the Camden Shout tonight. What's that? Camden Brewery turn up around 7pm and buy you a pint. You say 'thanks' They say 'no problem'... Its not hard

£2 donation on entry today for the game, with all proceeds going to St Joseph's Hospice. Already made nearly £2000 so keep it going!
Afraid no under 18s allowed in for tomorrow's England game. We're expected to be extremely busy, and after speaking to several people in the know we've decided it won't be the best environment for the young ones.
We’re opening at 11.30. Get in early to get a good spot
It would be nice to start the World Cup with the Saudis beating Putin's lot. Every game shown at the Billet. 4 Screens outside and 5 inside
Straight after the Spain Portugal game - Dj Russ Jones plays Balkan beats. We’re giving away cheap Stolichnaya vodka to Russian dressed punters. Russia 2018
One of our best loved regulars, June - gets her send off tomorrow at Islington Cemetery in Finchley at 11am.
We took a wedding booking for today over a year ago. We can’t let you in for the game. We are gutted about it but really can’t do anything. Really sorry.
Its the Hackney Half next Sunday. Its our favourite day of the year. We'll have our roasts on but also doing Louisiana Po' Boys in the outside kitchen, grilled cheese from the outside bar and Hackney Brewery are setting up a craft beer bar in the garden. We've got DJs in the garden from 5pm We even managed to organise nice weather for the day
Liverpool game tonight. See you at the pub
had the best time ever taking a walk back down the best memory lane ever love you guys so so much my southwold family.
love sharing all those great memories and how we all just come together is one of the greatest blessings of life xx thank you for an amazing day xx
Top top boozer...great ales...good food...always good music on...can't fault it really
This pub is my favourite. The friendliest and best looking bar staff in all of Upper Clapton.
The Sunday roast was delicious. Although the place was packed I was served quickly at the bar by very helpful staff. The food came quickly and was hot. My only complaint is that it is so popular that it was hard to find a seat.
Super beer, garden, football and staff!! Perfect!
So happy George is back behind the bar and spreading his amazing warmth and personality to everyone.
Really helpful in organising a post conference drink for ukfechat team. Really good food and wide range of beers. Thanks for your help
Nice and friendly stuff. Great atmosphere. Nice salad and Hot Fries also very delicious. Like it. Kids also enjoyed ice cream but it is expensive £1.50 for one scoop of ice-cream. ( Love outside area a lot.
Loved our reunion 30 odd years been going this pub same friends
Love this pub. Best beer garden in London. And great burgers too. And reasonably priced pints
It has been my regular pub since moving to the area in April.A bit of an eclectic crowd, there is room for all social and age groups in a very mixed part of London.Particularly impressed with how quickly I get served, how dog friendly the pub is(most important part really as my large labeadoodle is a pub lover), have not tried the food, but as a non-meat eater nothing really appeals to me so far.I would welcome more of an European lager variety, something along the lines of a czech lager or perhaps Estrella or Sagres.one minus, toilets are freezing cold and no hot water!!!!normal rant from a Southern European girl!
Otherwise pretty good treat every Friday night.... or midweek drink...therefore giving 5 stars, having in mind there is room for improvement.
I love this place! The Sunday rost fabulous!!! Very friendly atmosphere and the biggest plus the massive garden!!
I love the crooked billet on a monday evening when the quiz is on its fun and enjoyable its worth the money you put in to participate hats off to the geezer in his sparkling jacket for making all the effort to put a good night together and the staff are friendly too
I go every time I am browbeaten enough by friends to get my hair cut nearby. It's class. The bait is class. The beers are class. The staff are class. The beer garden is.... you get the picture!
Great pub! The garden is great for adults and kids, the beer is varied and the food is great! Also great staff and atmosphere.
Great pub with a warm & welcoming atmosphere. Staff are first rate.
Great place to bring the kids on a sunny day
Great little find on a bike ride from Hitchin to London will be returning awesome place
Fab pub since the refurb, the staff are always friendly
The prices are decent too, the garden is lovely all in all a fab place for a pint or food, the menu is fabulous
Special mention to "Mano" the Hammer :-)
Excellent staff. Great food. Lovely atmosphere. Wonderful outside space. Visited once and it was so great that I booked my 40th birthday there!
Dire! If you're a field mouse. It if you're human...nice place to have a bite. 5 stars! Meow! 🤦♂️
Brilliant.
Best Sunday lunch we've had for ages, the chef here is the best, couldn't fault any of the food, and the serving staff are lovely, a really friendly place to go with shit hot food! Love it.
An old wAtering home from back in the day . My how things change !
Always lovely fun.
A very lively place with lovely staff!!
a nice place for a drink and food wtth entertainment
We were there for the World Cup opener for England, so it was quite mad, but a fantastic atmosphere. Long time to get a drink though....
Lovely sunday lunch especially with great friends and a few bottles of red!
I remember this a pub in the 80s and this is a much better place young crowd and good food
Love this place for a drink but have given the Sunday roasts enough chances recently (used to be FAB a year ago) and it just doesn't quite cut the mustard.
Food was a bit cold and there wasn't much of it ( not great value for money). It tasted more like a bowl of (cold) leftovers than a Sunday roast, and was a bit like 'spot the beef' to start with! We did get given more meat and veg on request, thanks, but for Sunday lunch, the CB is game over for me.
I will stick to the odd pint!
I’ve had a better roast dinner in hospital! 16.50 was not only a joke, but an insult for what was a subpar, poorly cooked, slapdash and deplorable mound of mush. Subsequently, I paid 1.50 for a soda water, ARE YOU MAD CUZZY! The icing on the cake, paying a service charge for the pleasure of having my drinks order completely messed up. I understand it’s busy and I’m sure everyone is trying their best, but frankly, it’s just not bloody good enough! KNOCK IT DOWN AND START AGAIN!!!
We were here after the hackney half and the wait was unbearable- slow and rude staff. Please prepare yourselves better in the future. The wait was awful for athletes that needed something to eat after the run. Ps- if you're going to have an outdoor area don't have deep fat fryer projecting fumes over the everyone. Incredibly average experience on a nice day!
Today's experience was awful to say the least. Waited 1 hour and 45 mins for cold burgers. The manager was a useful as tits on a bull and with an attitude that was disgusting. I get it you were busy and behind, the just say that and don't promise every 5 mins the food was coming out. When I said that I wanted a refund on the meal he rudely shoved £5 in my face. If my wife and child were not at the table I would have made a scene in front of everyone. As someone who is in the restaurant trade and completely understand the pressure that goes with it but I can not condone that type of customer service. I will never return the my guests surely won't. Sort the management team out there ASAP as they are not doing your business any justice
They employed me and got me to work for them for seven hours on a public holiday. They then proceeded to tell me that I was employed. I never heard from them again and they wouldn't pick up my calls. They never paid me for the work I did.
If you aint yipee they talk to like shit. And the barman needs to know what shampoo is
I've never seen a bar and kitchen meltdown quite like last night. Running out of beer, glasses, food, staff, card machines etc. 15 minutes to get served, twenty minutes later one of the staff came to tell me they had ran out of what I had ordered, another 10 minutes waiting at the bar for a refund, joined by many others also waiting to get their money back.
I ended up getting a pizza from soda up the road and sneaking it into the beer garden.
I used to love this place, but it seems like it's falling apart at the seams now.
