We popped in for a quick drink, great selection of Gins, which we enjoyed and returned for cocktails later on, bar man very friendly and helpful made us all some fantastic drinks, defiantly worth a visit and will return ��Thank you !!

We have eaten here a number of times and the food and service has been excellent.

This place has certainly changed (for the better) since I use to live in Walden, lovely food and great service.

Stayed over night on Saturday, we decided to pop into Molly's tea room with every intention of leaving to visit the town, well we didn't leave Molly's and stayed at the Cross Keys all evening:) the atmosphere was perfect, the staff are attentive and very welcoming and go out of their way to make you happy...the food was absolutely amazing, my dish in particular was stunning ( the best meal I've had in a long time, every bite was delicious..it was the dish of the day the Lemon Sole..the stay over was very comfortable the bedding clean and I slept straight through..so absolutely no complaints and highly recommended, thank you for a lovely stay, will definitely re-visit..5 stars from me:)

Popped in for lunch today, excellent service and the food was fabulous and presented beautifully. I have visited for breakfast before, that was great too! I definitely be coming for an evening meal!! Many thanks x

I can only comment on the food as we stopped for lunch when we went to the car show yesterday. Nice little town centre and this was the ideal place for lunch. Hubby enjoyed a nice roast pork lunch and I opted for calves' livers. Beautifully cooked with creamy mash and a little spring greens and red onion. Real treat for me as I won't cook things like that! I had a lovely cocktail - can't remember the name .... Prosecco, elderflower and soda with mint, ice and lime. We didn't have dessert but enjoyed a lovely coffee. Nice friendly, efficient staff too

Beautiful building, fabulous room. Service was impeccable from a mature, friendly and extremely helpful team of staff throughout the building. Will definitely be back.

Arrived at cross keys hotel on Friday afternoon lovely staff and was shown to our room which was very nice but a bit on the small side with only a little window !!so I went downstairs to talk to the manager without any problem or esertation he gave us another room which was amazing the manager at this hotel is outstanding couldn’t do enough for us a really lovely man very professional at his job we were so impressed and will be returning very soon can’t say enough about it everything was Excellent thankyou very much for a lovely weekend!!!!! Really nice atmosphere, friendly and great service with the food. Ah yes the food, we had the burger meal which was 2 courses for £10.95. The food was excellent really tasty and the best (massive) onion rings I've had. The only shame was that we were then billed £31.50 for the 2 burger meals and didn't even have the desert or starter !!! £16 per burger meal ! When it was 2 courses for £10.95 not quite sure what happened, would off tried to sort then but 3 month old baby was not happy so we had to go. The bill was only thing stopped me giving 5 stars ! Shame as service and food perfect

Really lovely meal! The man who welcomed us in said we had at least a 45 mins wait!! 😩 we would have left, but it was pouring!! We asked if we could just wait!? Anyway! Showed straight to a table and were served straight away!!?? So not sure what the 45 mins wait was all about!? We almost didn’t stay! But pleased we did! Food and service so good! X

Thoroughly disappointed from a usual high standard..



Booked a table for 1pm and was quickly seated (met our guests at the table) ordered drinks..

After waiting 20 mins, called staff for our drinks and to place food order.. Wrong drink arrived but after waiting wasn't going to send it back.

Food order placed around 1.20..

Starters arrived at 2.20.. (my garlic mushrooms were superb!!)

Mains arrived at 3.20 (I had to nip out to put extra parking on the car)

I had the haddock which was OK,



Finally left just after 4pm..



General concensus - Service appalling / Food medeoke



**NOTE The chap who was dealing with us needs a payrise!! Didn't catch his name, tall, skinny, wearing a red chequed shirt (had a slight mustache)



More staff needed..

Service charge was waived (we didn't even ask)



Over 3 hours for a 2 course meal is unacceptable.



Has there been a change of management???

This hotel is understaffed and has inadequately trained staff. The general appearance is neglected rather than distressed chic! Our en-suite bedroom was in need of a thorough clean, the lavatory seat was unhinged and there was rather a strong stench of dead animal on the staircase. We found making tea for two with the single English breakfast teabag provided and the espresso machine rather a novelty. Outside area and night time roof access litter strewn with fag ends etc. Limited parking should be organised for benefit of the customers.

Popped in with a friend for fish n chips. Buy one meal get one free. Ordered JD and coke and glass of red wine.



My fish was not cooked, the waiter said it was meant to look like it, i said no its raw, the chef said i cd have another. Of course by the time it came my friend had finished hers.

The bill came. The glass of wine was £10.50 and the wine delivelivered to the next table was on our bill. That was soon removed. When we queried the cost of a glass of wine and said it was extortionate he said it wasnt. We both come from London, that can be pricey but £10.50 is rediculous.

Will not be going there again

I never write reviews but felt like I needed too. We had lunch today where we were welcomed by a VERY rude waiter (tall guy, didn't smile once) who explained because we hadn't booked highchairs for our 17 month old twins we couldn't use the ones in the meantime that were spread round the restaurant at reserved tables. There were plenty that were not in use and after I asked just to use them quickly until the other tables arrived he begrudgingly moved them to our table. 20 mins later he was sure to almost 'snatch' them away once we had removed our twins and they were now sitting on our knee. Just not friendly at all - he continued to almost 'tut' at the fact one of our twins was toddling round the table, in nobody's way and causing no trouble. All the girls however were really friendly and chatty. Food was ok. Moral of the review is not baby friendly and suggest you get someone more welcoming to seat guests table! Won't be coming back!

Ate here today. Wanted a quick bite from the set menu before a mooch round the town. Sadly the mooch never happened. Not once was the long wait mentioned - 2 hour’s for ham egg and chips. And not once was the wait apologised for. We weren’t the only ones getting fed up. Average food, poor customer service. Won’t be venturing back.

To say I’m disappointed with my stay last Saturday night is an understatement!

We stayed in room 3, I’m doubting if it was cleaned at all , the bathroom was absolutely filthy it had clumps of grime and dirt in every corner.

The bed sheets had a rip in the side , and the carpet was covered in fluff and dirt.

Breakfast was also just as awful, I have attached a picture of the bacon , I’d like your opinion if this is your usual standard of food you serve ? The chef came back and said it was all pre cooked and was all over done and wouldn’t cook any fresh ?! What a joke !
