Just returned from a night away in the hotel. Beautiful place lovely room clean and peaceful. Had table booked for dinner and just couldn't fault it. Service was brilliant lovely helpful staff. Meal was excellent all cooked to a very high standard. Breakfast in the morning was faultless. Some much choice all cooked to order. Loved the whole experience will definitely return.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food / wine and excellent service

User

Fantastic restaurant. Lovely location to boot. We were a party of 4 celebrating a birthday. We each had 3 courses and coffee. Every course was delicious and well presented and prepared. The staff were friendly and welcoming, not to mention helpful regarding any queries. Great value at £32.50 per head. Will definitely return sooner than later despite a 100 mile round trip.

User

Fantastic menu mouth watering dishes excellent choices and great friendly staff with exceptional chef.. 5/5

Beautiful country retreat. Not a lot in the immediate area just rolling green countryside, which makes it the perfect place for a romantic/escape weekend. Hotel itself is perfect, immaculate with great decor. Lovely touches with mini bar, tea/coffee station, glassware, fan in room.Things that you dont always get in large hotels let alone small country inns.

Amazing shower(always important for us nothing worse than a bad shower when staying in a hotel)

All staff very helpful with receptionist showing us to our room and giving fresh milk and biscuits.

Ate in the resturant last night and would say one of the best meals we have had in a while. Busy, yet smoothly run. Great menu and lovely resturant garden. Will recommend.

User

User

Was really disappointed first tome back to the restaurant after a few years the service wasn’t great and the meat was hard and fatty the desert menu was very limited nothing at all on there any of our table liked quite disappointed

User

lovely place and staff .. fish was delicious but my wife's "iron" steak was firm & inedible !! .. we expected staff to ask why it was not eaten when they collected the plates !! .. anyway, its one place we wont visit again, as there are plenty of other restaurants and pubs to choose from locally ...

User

We had a lovely meal, but the door to the north facing terrace and guest accommodation was continually left open so that we were continually subject to a cold draught. Please could you fit a self closing catch to the door?

User

Not keen on menus that consist mostly of rabbit, game and steak

Thought it was overpriced (£21 for a rump steak !) and wasn't impressed with my dessert which I found dry and had insufficient sauce

User

I wrote a more detailed review on Trip Advisor, but whilst some aspects of the meal were good, we were disappointed overall and will not be returning.

Pros: nice surroundings, good decor, roast beef was excellent, dessert was nice, staff were friendly.

Cons: Had to ask for menus while we waited to be seated, had to chase up about our reservation when the time came (we were early), no highchairs (fortunately we'd asked on the phone and brought our own - not very family friendly), limited choice for vegetarians and no vegetarian roast option (It was a Sunday, we were out for a family roast dinner) so my wife had to make do with yorkshire pudding, veg and potatoes with no gravy and some extra veg. We were then charged the full £18.95 for a beef roast dinner PLUS an extra £3 for the extra veg (which I insisted was removed from the bill) for this. Sausage and mash from the children's menu was literally *one* sausage and a dollop of mash with gravy and no vegetables for £7.50. Artichoke salad starter was nice in parts but artichoke poorly prepared and mostly inedible.

For the prices charged here, you expect much better. There are pubs serving equally good, if not better, Sunday roasts and many places that will offer some kind of vegetarian/meat-free option, for less money.

User

No high chairs in the restaurant, staff not really helpful but food was lovely always

User

Looking at the other reviews maybe we came on an off day!, but won't go back, we had lovely starters, but roast diner was poor, dessert not much better. Service was on the whole good although we did have to ask 4 times for a jug of water, it finally arrived after complaining to the manageress, who did apologise. Shame because it's a nicely decorated restaurant, just expected better food and service.

User

Trouble is they employ very young waitresses that are not trained properly and don't deliver what you have ordered, very disappointed as have some great meals in the past but won't be returning as apologies don't seem very sincere either.

User

No high chairs in the restaurant, locals were taking pictures of our car because we left it in the car park and one threatened to get the car towed away! Not a very welcoming place at all.
