The Cud Life

About The Cud Life

Two lovely homely holiday cottages with a 15 pitch campsite and now a fantastic Cookshop and Coffeeshop on our working farm in Killinghall, near Harrogate.

The Cud Life Description

The Cud Life is our farm location just outside Harrogate on the A61 Ripon Road. We have two 4* Self Catering Holiday cottages (each cottage sleeps up to 6 guests) where we are very proud of our lovely reviews. Our website is www. thecudlife. co. uk where you can get more information. We opened our little 15 pitch Caravan and Camping site in May 2013 and had a fantastic year with lots of repeat bookings. Then in 2014 we moved our cookshop (www. cookingfantastic. co. uk) to be on the farm along with a little coffeeshop serving homemade soups and cakes with delicious Taylors of Harrogate Teas and Coffees and Milkshakes served in glass wellies! ! We look forward to welcoming you to come and experience a little piece of 'The Cud Life' - The Good Life but on a farm! ;-)

Our third holiday cottage is underway at The Cud Life! It will be a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom single storey cottage with an open plan living are and the lovely view down our fields to the beautiful Nidd Gorge, river and viaduct. We already have Cowslip and Humble Bee Cottages but are stuck on a name for this one. We have lots of Red Kites here, we have otters in the river, the cottage used to be part of the milking parlour. Have you any ideas? We have set a poll below, please tick your favourite or add your own and we will hopefully make a decision soon and let you all know :-)

For all The Cud Life tractor fans (big and small)! Here is a little video of the fabulous Knaresborough Tractor Run from Tanya's Grandads lounge!! In aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance - a great thing to see and support :-)

Couldn't resist sharing this with you all, to say it made our day is an understatement! To receive an email like this makes everything we do worthwhile. Making memories at The Cud Life is one thing, making friendships is the icing on the cake and reason we keep our campsite small and friendly :-) (personal details and information removed)
Hi Tanya, We are a Canadian family that stayed in H...umble Bee cottage about 4 years ago after arriving fresh from 3 trains and a trans-Atlantic flight. We spent our first two nights camping in your field (in your tent, that you set up for us - still so thankful for that) in a chilly chilly summer drizzle with our two daughters, including a baby. You found a way to get us into HumbleBee a day earlier than planned, it was so cold, which was such a lifesaver for our holiday. Anyway, in our time at The Cud Life we met a family from Glasgow (staying with you in their caravan) and ended up spending time with them throughout our visit (camping then HumbleBee). I just wanted to send you a little update and huge thank you because we ended up becoming good friends with this other family, eventually visiting them in Glasgow on another visit to Britain, and finally moving to their village. Our (now) 5-year old asked me yesterday if our friends kids are her COUSINS. And we would never have had any of this without our wonderful stay at your farm. Thank you for all that and so much more. Our week at The Cud Life brought us so much joy and continues to warm our hearts. XoxoX

HOW EXCITING! Our wonderful friend Sue McQueen from McQueen's Web Design has made the final touches and we are delighted to announce that our new website is live! The gorgeous photo on the home page was taken by the lovely Anne Rogers Photography this summer. Most of our photos are taken by friends or previous guests and we always love to see your pictures of stays in The Cud Life holiday cottages or on our campsite so please do post any below or let us know what you think of our new site :-) www.thecudlife.co.uk

Another lovely review of The Cud Life campsite - this time from our biggest ever camper (ie a full size band bus that has carried many a famous musician). Sadly they weren't celebrities but it didn't stop us telling our other guests that Robbie Williams MIGHT be one of the TEN beds!!! hahahaha 🤔🤣😆😜😯https://www.motorhome voyager.co.uk/…/the-cud-life-killing†¦/…

We love that when 'The Grays' come to camp at The Cud Life they always send us lovely pictures of their stay. This time along with the beautiful sunrises, they sent us this......its a WEASEL!! Farmer Dave is very jealous, he has lived here for 43 years and has never seen one - the Grays come for four nights and see this one twice!! We are going to call him Wesley the Weasel, see if you can spot him <3

User

Two things! Firstly we have had a last minute cancellation for a pitch on The Cud Life campsite tomorrow and Thursday (Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th August), if you would like to book, please contact us on 01423 565855. Secondly, we have just found these glasses in our orchard while cutting the grass ready for today's arrivals. If they are yours or you know who they belong to let us know and PLEASE SHARE so that Dyson our weimaraner doesn't wear them out :-)

User

We are always really grateful for our guests taking the time to leave us lovely reviews on Google, Facebook, Uk Campsites, Tripadvisor, The Camping and Caravanning Club etc Particularly when lots of our guests say they have loved it at The Cud Life so much they don't want to tell anyone!! 😂🤣😆😃 We are now number 2 on tripadvisor for speciality lodgings so THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH <3

User

We have had a last minute cancellation in Cowslip Cottage (sleeps up to 5people) at The Cud Life, Harrogate from tomorrow!! We've been full in our cottages and campsite for ages now, so if anyone wants a last minute stay for the Great Yorkshire Show then contact us ASAP www.thecudlife.co.uk

So, yesterday was a day of twins and matching pairs! We only have two holiday cottages and a small campsite at The Cud Life so who would have imagined that we would have THREE sets of twins staying, each with a boy and girl! And then to top it off this lovely lady brought her little and large unusual combination of dogs called Darcey and Henry to our onsite cookshop and coffeeshop Cooking Fantastic and they met out very own Dyson and Henry!!! #twinsrule #whatarethechancesofthat

User

What a lovely find. We couldn't have picked a better place to try out our new teepee. Well kept camp site, clean, well equipped washrooms. We will definitely be back. Shame the coffee shop isn't open every day, only got to enjoy it once.

User

We have just returned from a one night stay on a Saturday and thought it was a brilliant site. The owners have really thought about what they are doing and certainly got it right. Lots of nice touches around the site and our four year old absolutely loved it - especially the toasted marshmallows round the fire. The facilities are head and shoulders above other small sites we've stayed at. Very family friendly and the onsite and cookshop are amazing. Thank you we will be back!

User

We have gone here lots over the past couple of years- truly one of the best campsites we go to- we camp a lot! Tanya and her team are so welcoming, the campsite is always immaculate, and the surroundings are beautiful. The walk, which you can get information on from the farm, into Knaresborough, is a lovely walk. The extra touches on the farm; a big fire pit, marshmallows, lovely eggs and milk, walking guides that Tanya has taken the time to do (and photographed for you to follow), and the quirky signs definitely you make it. The coffee shop- amazing coffee with amazing cheese scones, and kitchen shop is not to be missed. We will continue to come back. A place to make many memories.

User

We had the best week staying in the lovely Cowslip cottage Tanya and David couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and at home with all the finishing touches we even arrived to freshly baked chocolate brownies and biscuits for the children to decorate! The location is beautiful and Tanya’s cook shop is amazing! We will definitely visit again

User

The first time we have stayed at this site and we found it to be most welcoming. Quiet and unassuming on the Friday night and on the Saturday night the log burner and marshmallows were fun and allowed us to mix with other campers/caravanners. Facilities were very good, lots of lovely hot water and nice and clean. Lots to love about this site. Thank you to the owners of this site.

User

Stayed for the first time over the bank holiday amazing place will definitely be back

User

Probably the best camp site we have ever stayed on! The facilities were perfect, everything had been thought about - even toys for children to borrow. The field was so picturesque and the cows next door were lovely and friendly. Can’t wait to come back - thanks Tanya and team x

User

On our way home from a great weekend at the cud life. This site is small, peaceful and super friendly . Tanya and the staff go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay and have everything you need. The facilities are clean and tidy with great showers and homely touches in the decor such as a bathroom radio! The honesty shop is also a great touch supplying milk, eggs sausages and marshmallows with sticks for the communal fire pit in the middle of the site. Another fantastic touch. Our little one enjoyed bathing in the bath tub provided as well. The cafe on site is well worth a visit with lots of homemade goodies and milkshake wellies! A site we'll definitely be returning to. Thanks for a lovely weekend x

User

Love it here! Tanya and Dave are the most welcoming hosts, showing us the brand new calfs on the working farm (7 minutes old and not even walking yet!) to giving advice on just the right pan that is fit for your needs in the cook shop, which is like an Aladdin’s cave for professional and hobby cooks, (with a takeaway coffee!) and entertaining the kids with Tanya’s wonderful personality whilst making milkshakes in welly boot shaped glasses to be served with the COW (Cake Of the Week) Highly recommend! Would give The Cud Life 100 stars if we could!

User

Just returned from a fabulous stay, what a wonderful gem of a site, lovely and peaceful with fantastic views. Tanya and Dave are the perfect hosts and it's the quirky little details that make this a special place. Can't wait to return!

User

Just heading home after a fantastic 9 day stay in our caravan at the cud life. We would highly recommend this beautiful place.

There is a camping field and hardstanding for both tents and caravans with a lovely clean toilet and shower block. The views are great across the fields and provides a lovely back drop with the farm to enjoy a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

There is also the bonus of having a cafe on site thursday-saturday providing yummy cakes and milkshakes in wellie glasses which our son loved.

Thank you Tanya and Dave and the girls in the cafe for making us feel welcome so much so we are sad to be heading home.

We will be back soon

User

Just had a weekend at the Cud Life, great site and very welcoming. All the facilities were immaculate and the cafe was a real bonus for proper homemade cakes. Nice personal touches, like the Saturday night campfire with marshmallows provided. There is a real family atmosphere and not too crowded, would recommend to anyone and would love to come back xx

User

Just had a lovely couple of nights here. Absolute gem of a campsite we thoroughly enjoyed it. The banoffi was the best ever and the host Tanya is a lovely lady. We will be back.

User

Just got back from our stay at humble bee cottage. The cottage was lovely and had everything you could possibly need, including loads of toys for the kids. The bed was so comfortable and absolutely huge, usually I get back from holiday and think how nice it is to sleep in my own bed, but not this time! I would highly recommend.

User

Had a great stay at the Cud Life campsite just outside Harrogate. Bus into town just at end of lane. Very friendly owners Tanya & David - make you most welcome - especially in the onsite cafe (open Thurs to Sat) & excellent kitchen shop (Fantastic kitchens) Sitting round the huge firepit chatting to fellow campers watching shooting stars was fun pn Saturday night. All ages and dogs welcome. Lovely views. There are plans for other exciting ventures check it out.

User

Brilliant weekend at the cud life, our first stay and will definitely be returning. Our 5yo and 2yo made friends instantly with other children and the family atmosphere was great. Tanya and her husband were very welcoming and have added little touches to make staying with a young family that little bit easier. Shower cubicles were large enough for us to shower with the children making the process less stressful and the toddler toilet seat and potty were a god send. A lovely site and will definitely be recommending to others.

User

Beautiful small Campsite with far reaching views. The facilities are spotless. Free hot showers in great big shower rooms so no soggy clothes when getting dressed.

Wash up area with communal Fridge freezer and an honesty shop.

Saturday night they have a communal fire pit for campers to get to know each other and toast some marshmallows :)

Tanya the owner is super friendly and so helpful nothing is too much trouble :)
