What a surprise find. We came to find the poppy fields and found this treasure too. Great food, lovely decor, really friendly staff and all in a beautiful setting

User

We stopped here on our way home for an evening meal. The food was excellent; the chef is inspiring: I had the steak, my wife the vegetarian curry. The staff are considerate, kind and attentive. We’ll be back!

User

This is a real find ! Everything about it is fabulous - quaint, well served, excellent food and ales - run by a very accomplished manager Mark who is so personable and his attention to detail is immense right down to remembering us from our previous stays 5*

User

Stopped here for a night on a cycling trip. The 4 of us can’t rate this place highly enough. Staff were very helpful and food to die for. We ran out of superlatives while we were eating dinner and we agreed that breakfast was probably the best we’ve ever had!

User

Stayed here for 3 nights. Was lovely. Room was comfortable with little extras such as the home made vodka. Ate the restaurant each night, and food was amazing - well presented and very tasty. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Will be back.

User

Only checked in here 15 minutes ago. But can tell a nice place when I see one. A proper hidden gem here. Room is stunning, setting is stunning, food has arrived and looks fab, service fantastic.

User

Just enjoyed a lovely meal and stay here. Everybody made us feel so welcome. Enjoyed a cup of tea on our arrival in the cosy bar before being shown to our Garden Room which was just lovely. Had a very enjoyable evening meal, the menu was interesting, a steak cooked as requested and the game sausage dish from the specials board so tasty. The carrot cake pudding dish was delicious and quirky with the carrot ice cream -just wished I’d had room to finish it all! A comfortable night and an extensive breakfast menu to choose from the following morning finished off a really enjoyable stay, where nothing was too much trouble. Thank you, we hope to come back to see you again.

I was in Dawn Symonds group and completely agree with her comments. It was so impressive to experience the consistently high quality of the food and as for the breakfast: unbeatable! I feel I should rein back on my enthusiasm because it's just going to get so difficult to get a reservation at this rate.

I just held my 40th birthday here on Friday, the chef planned a wonderful 3 course menu taking in a vegan option (was delicious) they happily added an extra person at a couple of days notice, the food all came out hot and together (there were 16 of us) the bill was reasonable, the table looked lovely, the staff were really sweet when bombarded with questions about what certain things were. The chef added a burger to my menu due to me having a couple of fussy friends . 6 of my family members travelled from Glasgow and Preston for the night and stayed there for the night, they loved the rooms and the added homemade vodka!!! Thankyou so much for making my birthday!!!

User

I had heard so much about the Village and this wonderful venue. Travelled half way around the world and then just popped in for breakfast. It was a wonderful start to the day and next time I will stay over. Brilliant.

User

Great place to eat. Relaxed atmosphere, lovely surroundings. Food is first rate. Becoming a regular stop off on the way home from Norfolk.

User

Food was very tasty, beautifully presented and excellent value. I had the goats cheese doughnut with beetroot to start, it was unusual but very tasty, followed by the fish which was full of flavours! Highly recommend this place!

User

Food was gorgeous. Couldn’t fault it. Only minor constructive criticisms: Fly curtains to help keep the flies out of the restaurant (incredibly irritating); some sort of shading for the skylight windows so customers aren’t blinded by the sun (my sister had to wear a hat at table, because it was so uncomfortable); and please serve condiments BEFORE the food is brought out. This is one of my pet hates. Sitting waiting...... for horseradish sauce when your plate of beef is in front of you. Also, one of the clumsy waitresses could do with social grace training. The young man who served us was very pleasant and accommodating.

User

As always...just the BEST place ever! Outstanding food, great service, and a lovely venue! Thanks!

User

Absolutely stunning food and the pub itself is wonderful, set in such a lovely location. The staff are superb, very friendly.

User

This isnt the first time we've stopped. Always a lovely time. Food, beverages, etc., are excellent, BUT..this time the positively worst cup of tea I've had in my entire life..and that's saying something, since we visit from the States, where tea is a bag in lukewarm water. Shan't make the same error again. Next time, it'll be coffee when in need of a hot drink!

User

Lovely pub, intriguing interior, a homage to books and beer! Very nice all in all. Helpful friendly staff. We only popped in for a couple of drinks; might investigate the menu another time....

User

Lovely place food amazing stayed the night, thought about four in a bed! I would have to knock a little money off for the after hours noise, staff I think on a motor bike going, didn't sleep brilliantly due to noise, but bed amazing, room clean brakfst amazing, just a ,little over priced.

User

Everything was really nice, nice room, lovely staff, nice smelliest in the room. Loved the added touch of the homemade vodka, and breakfast was presented beautifully. We thought the choice on the evening menu could have been larger, but the food we had was delicious.
