Today marked the end of the Hersden Cyanotype project! The participants worked so hard,lovely Caroline turned some of the prints into bunting which will be displayed at the celebration event in August! The other prints will form a display where the participants can show their family and friends their creations!

ONE more space left on this years photography based Arts Award Summer school course- I am running a Silver Arts Award for 11-26 year olds based at Beach Creative CIC in Herne Bay! The students will be working towards a nationally recognised qualification which can be used alongside their GCSE’s/BTEC/ALevels.
The students will develop skills in -leadership -creativity... -building a portfolio -group work/collaboration -working towards a brief -photography skills -communication -visual design skills -exhibition experience -fundraising
The course is designed to be flexible to enable people of varying ages and ability to take part and thrive!
All equipment is provided including a specialist darkroom on site!
I have previously hosted 2 Bronze Arts Award courses in the summer of 2017 & 2018.

Gary brought along some overlays originally for some screen printing work from his university days- so amazing to see them printed up!
Ray brought some of his jewellery silversmithing tools, originally his uncles, alongside some handmade jewellery.

Today was the first of four sessions at the Hersden Community centre as part of the Canterbury Festival ”New Tricks” workshops!
Hersden is a mining town! Coal was discovered near Dover in 1890, and Hersden was one of the several villages built to house the workers who had relocated to the area from more traditional coal-mining districts. The users of the community centre are taking inspiration from this mining history as well as their mining history to create Cyanotype prin...ts! Can’t wait to see how these ideas develop over the next 4 weeks!

Look at this beauty- it’s a Kodak Brownie, dating back to 1946, belonging to Ian Laker’s father who has sadly passed away recently. Ian revived the camera by adapting a roll of 120 film to fit inside the Brownie; he then took it along to document the scattering of his fathers ashes with his family. So pleased that Ian was able to print from the negatives on Saturday here at the darkroom, using the enlarger he recently donated! What an amazing journey the little Brownie came...ra has had!
