Weekday lunch for 2. Great service and food, possibly the best Mussels I've eaten!

We stayed here during the recent severe weather! Due to the snow our flights were cancelled and the roads impassable ! We stayed at the pub for several days ! The service and hospitality was first class and friendly, great bar and the food was fantastic. The rooms were of a high quality and the power shower invigorating ! We will be back ! Thank you !

User

Very impressed with the quality of food and the lovely staff. Highly recommend this place.

This is one of those places you think is amazing but you don’t want to review because you want to keep it to yourself so it’s available when you want to go. But it would be so unfair not to share this place, this place has obviously had a lot of money spent on a tasteful refurbishment.

It’s immaculately clean very well presented the staff are so polite and friendly, we spent some time talking to the manager and his attitude is amazing I wish more people had his attitude towards what service is all about.

The food was excellent the ale was very well kept so what more could you ask for OK a cozy bar with a log fire Yes it’s got one.

Sorry if I have waffled but we were so impressed.

This is undoubtedly the best place we have stayed when near Bristol airport and will definitely be back.

User

The service and good quality are superb! We tried several desserts and they were divine. Highly recommended!

The Darlington opened again yesterday, I went for lunch and had Chicken Liver Parfait to start and a Beefburger for main. I asked for the burger rate and that's exactly how it came...... Perfect!

Today I went back with my cousin Susan, who had the burger, again cooked as she wanted and I had the Rib Eye Steak and asked for it rare to blue...... perfectly cooked, succulent and full of flavour....... Fantastic!

Asked to meet the chef to congratulate him.....

We both had Apple & Rhubarb Crumble and custard to finish. Again fabulous........

Chef.......please don't leave 😊

Stopped one night for local wedding. Upgraded due to booking error. Room was very nice and finished to a high standard. Waterfall shower was a luxury treat. Waterfall tap was faulty and resulted in a few funny soakings but would be annoying to some. English breakfast, included in room rate, really was first class. Shame we will have little reason to return and no doubt enjoy dinner and the lovely looking rear garden terrace.

Popped in for lunch and what a fantastic choice. Had scallops to start followed by the most delicious aromatic lamb rump which was cooked to perfection. Couldn't really fit any more in but decided to go for the Eton mess which went down a treat. The staff are very friendly too. Can't wait to go back so keep up the good work!!

Had a lovely meal here last night with friends. Great atmosphere and Barney the barman was delightful as always. Apparently a must if you like Gin but the Rose' was rather lovely as well.

Thought we’d try the Darlington for a change as it’s not been open long. It’s had quite a nice refurb, though they could add a bit more colour. The place was quite cold and the wall colours did not help. We went for Sunday lunch. The pate starter was lovely, very tasty, the homemade soup which my son had was very nice too. The beef and pork on the mains was very tasty and the meat was cooked perfectly, the only criticism I would have is that it could have been a bit hotter the veg that came out with it was very nice (3veg) but only enough for 2, which was lucky as our son doesn’t eat most veg, so slightly bigger veg potions needed. My hubby had the apple & pear crumble which was very nice but also could have been warmer. We had excellent service & there was a good selection of draught beers, one which happens to be my fav. Overall a very good experience, we will be returning.

User

Great decor lovely atmosphere, food was great. Only slight negative was the wait time for our food to arrive. It would've been nice for the waiting staff to come ask us if we needed another drink or to see the dessert menu rather than us having to ask them. None of the above will stop us visiting again though.
