We have a fascinating new resident in Cool Seas! This amazing Common cuttlefish is currently only a small juvenile so you may have to look hard to see him, but when he is fully grown he will be around 40-50cm in length. Cuttlefish, like many cephalopods, are well known for their intelligence and their amazing camouflage abilities. Let us know if you spot him on your visit!

#DYK the Garden eel uses slime?
Tightening its muscular body to make itself rigid, the Spotted garden eel drives its pointy tail deep into the sandy sea bed. Once deep enough, it wiggles its dorsal fin, pushing sand out of the hole like a sideways spade. Slime secreted from the eelŌĆÖs skin cements the walls of its burrow to stop it collapsing.
... It's all about Slime this summer at The Deep, so pop on down and find out more about our slimy residents in our trail and interactive slime show. You can even take part in our slime making workshop too!

This was a surprise visit to the deep for my husband who will be 80 years young on the 19th of this month. He absolutely adored all the Deep had to offer, he is adament he's coming back to see the things he missed, so will be seeing all you lovely people in the not too distant future.

User

The Deep is a fantastic place for all the family ’┐Į there is plenty for children all ages and adults have a fandassydosie time as we had yesterday youngest 6yrs oldest 69yrs so judge for you're selves it's really worth that visit H

User

Parking was ample and the prices for entry were reasonable, not forgetting it's free admission if you go later in the year.

I booked tickets online, it did save a few pounds and Gift Aided as well, just so The Deep get something back from the Goverment. The whole place was immaculate and the tanks were superb.

My six year old was fascinated by the whole place, so for me it was GREAT value for money. There were some shows on slime and other things as well.

The food in the cafeteria was very good (steak pie), as well as being reasonably priced. There was always staff cleaning up to which was nice to see.

On leaving in the glass elevator I became very envious, as there were some staff donning there SCUBA gear to carry out some duties and being a diver myself, I thought that would be my ideal job.

Carry on the good work at The Deep.

User

Lovely and clean, the tanks and walkways are immaculate. The food in the cafe was lovely and I thought it was very reasonably priced compared to other attractions I have been to. The staff who we encountered were lovely and friendly, making an effort to talk to my 3 year and telling him all the names of the turtles and sharks. Only down side is the number of school children on trips, but we got round the crowds by going round again after our lunch so the things we couldnt see first time we managed to on the second trip :) all in all we had a fantastic day.

User

I canŌĆÖt believe I never knew that you pay for one admission and they give you a years pass for free. Amazing place to visit with kids, thereŌĆÖs a playgroup with songs on a Tuesday morning which is great. ItŌĆÖs a 10 min walk into the city centre and lots of great places to eat and drink nearby.

User

I brought my autistic son to the deep! He loved it. The staff were all so kind and were very helpful with all his questions... and there were many! X he laid next to the jelly fish for about 20 minutes only leaving as we really did need to push on! We spent a good 5 hours there and enjoyed every second x

User

Great day out with my two beautiful grandaughters..they loved all the fish and the sea turtle..and especially the sawfish..got the sticker books and passes for the next year so not bad value.they made slime(still finding bits in my van)..and polished off cakes and drinks in the cafe after going out on the windy viewing platform..will go again soon..5 star.

User

Fantastic as always. We have annual tickets so the long admissions queue didn't affect us. We had a great visit with the added bonus of making slime with the kid's at the end of the visit.

Possibly the posters advertising the slime making could have been visible later in the tour.

Luckily we were finished by the time the fire evacuation started so mamaged to get put of the car park before it got too busy with visitors.

Looking forward to our next trip.

User

Fab School Trip yesterday, the kids loved every moment and haven't stopped talking about it,especially as it was their first school trip. The staff was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us all, highly recommend a visit.Thankyou again.

User

Been today for the first time the staff are very friendly and full of knowledge,if they didn't know the answer to a question they asked over the radio. It's always nice to go somewhere where staff interact with the children, our little one is only 4 months and absolutely loved it so much so we are hoping to visit again over the weekend before we head home on Sunday afternoon.

User

Another fantastic trip to The Deep today for our little ones 4th birthday. We've been a few times over the past few years and we are never disappointed.

There is a lot of parking and it's only ┬Ż3 for 6 hours. The tickets are very cheap in my opinion, especially considering you can use them over and over again for a year! This is useful as a for a family of four a day out is usually bank breaking!

The cafe is great, lots of choice and lots of seats with staff who keep on top of keeping it clean and tidy, it's also reasonably priced.

The exhibits themselves are great. For us it takes just over an hour to walk around the whole thing. But, we have a 4 year old who isn't interested in reading about the various sea creatures and runs from one tank to the next.

I can't comment on queues as we always come just after opening during term time to avoid them and it but too busy. Having said that, our 4 year old is autistic and before his first visit I contact the deep to ask about their facilities and they were massively helpful in reassuring me about the entrance for disabled visitors and the facilities should he have a meltdown and need a quiet area. Luckily we didn't need one but there is always lots of staff around the exhibits if you need any help.

Would definitely recommend and we will be back again ’┐Į

User

Amazing experience! Went for my birthday, a family day out with our 2 year old son and all of us enjoyed it. Interactive for the children and the staff were all lovely.

User

1st time here... absolutely loved it ! Better than any sealife centre I've ever been to! So impressive from start to finish ! Love how its child and wheelchair friendly too ! Couldn't fault it ... the only snag was the hot food wasnt hot... other than that it was a fabulous day out !

User

Very clean and pleasant. Busy, but to be expected on a Saturday during the holiday. Food reasonable though not as warm as would have liked by the time we paid and sat down..

Only negative comment is the hoods for sound above some of the interactive stations are too far away so to actually hear anything your too far away to touch the screen etc.

We will visit again! ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

User

Amazing scenery with amazing food. Pints are really good and service was good too. Would recommend to anyone. Lamb shank is the one to go for ¤śŹ

User

Nice place to visit but for me personally it's missing the wow factor. The main attraction is the big tank and the penguins and top top it all off they had a slime making their were more people doing that then people walking round so what does that tell u ??

User

Its ok, not a huge amount of things to see, good for a couple of hours. Waited for feeding time where the divers get in, very underwhelming! Staff are really nice tho.

User

Very disappointed with our visit today. Literally hundreds of school children there at once. I couldnŌĆÖt push my pram through them for most of the hour we were there, my baby couldnŌĆÖt see much of the exhibits and it was very noisy and stressful. Normally there are one or two classes going round but never known it like this! A waste of our time and money ’┐Į

User

Utterly disappointed is being kind. ItŌĆÖs just a big fish tank with a few big fish and a couple of small sharks. Completely over priced and I even had to pay ┬Ż3 to park. My recommendation is DONT BOTHER. IŌĆÖll give the Deep a very generous 2/10.
