The Deepings School of Dancing dates back to 1955 when it was founded by Gwen Wilbourne and Stella Sutton. There were three schools, one based in Stamford, one in Market Deeping and one in Yaxley.

In 1986 Gwen handed over the school to the current Principal and dance artist Marina Palmer who had just moved to the area having sold her large school in London where some of her pupils went on to the Corona, Peggy 0`Farrell and the Italia Conti Stage Schools appearing in films and shows alongside the likes of Ken Dodd and his 'Diddy Men', Sir Cliff Richard in 'Summer Holiday' and Tommy Steele in the stage show 'Half a Sixpence'.

The Deepings School of Dancing hold classes in Ballet, Tap, Acrobatics and Modern Jazz at the Deeping St James Primary School in Hereward Way, Deeping St James.

The school has many pupils ranging from 3 years to adults and caters for both the serious student, many of whom go on to professional training careers in the theatre and the recreational pupil. Adult classes are held in Jazzercise and tap.

Pupils are entered for dance examinations and annual shows.

The school is a regular at the Deepings Festival, local fetes and events and is a supporter of the Deepings Arts project for the multi-purpose, multi-use building development for the Deepings.
