About The Devils Dyke Pub
Country pub and dining
The Devils Dyke Pub Description
The pub restaurant offers an ideal spot to rest after a day exploring the Devil's Dyke Valley, from which it got its name. According to local folklore the valley is an unfinished trench which was dug by the Devil in an attempt to flood the churches of the Weald. The valley now plays host to The Dyke Golf Club and Dyke Golf Course.
A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Was served by a waiter called Jordon, perfect flawless service, lovely environment and excellent food service.
We arrived at 6pm and had a full (very good priced) 3 course meal which was spot on, impossible to fault and we were done and heading home stuffed and 110% satisfied at 7:30pm.
Will CERTAINLY be coming back again and recommending to friends and family.
The only thing I suggest could do with changing would be the toilets and they let down the rest of the place, not unclean, just out-dated and could do redecorated.
Look forward to visiting again

Service was great, food came out quick for a large group (11 of us) food was good, everyone was happy and we stayed there for over 3 hours chatting. The décor was festive and we all had a lovely family Christmas meal 🌟🎄
I went for lunch with my parents today, we are all vegan and were so impressed with the full vegan menu, not only was it varied and creative, but the food was absolutely delicious... especially the curry and panna cotta We will def be back!
Had a really nice roast dinner, food came really quickly and the staff were all really friendly! Would definitely come again!
Great food - and what a view! 2 years since I’ve been there til yesterday- still great!
We were very surprised by how lovely this pub was when we stepped through the door. So different & welcoming from the outside (perhaps some hanging baskets would give a better impression of how good it is inside? Like a lot of visitors we judge a place by its toilets - if they are superb we tend to comment on how fantastic they are; if they are ok, we don’t really comment; if they are not good it probably means we don’t visit again. Such a shame because the food & service was brilliant.
Visiting family in the area and they took us to the pub for a late lunch. They had obviously been busy as there were still a number of tables needing to be cleared, though plenty of cleared ones to chose from. We ordered our food no problem but did have a bit of a wait for it to arrive. Hot, plenty of it and tasty. The bar service was a little slow, maybe understaffed, I don't know. The waitress we had, Sally was lovely. Took time to talk to my grandson, and us. She came back at the end of her shift to say goodbye, and gave Jax a little Halloween cake, while explaining about the puds for little ones for only £1. Nice pub, lovely location, and friendly staff. We would come again when down again.
Very welcoming and cosy experience. The only reason it didn't get a 5 is because no one could tell me if the mulled wine was vegan, so I had coffee and tea instead.
A wonderful setting for a pub! My wife and I arrived on a Monday lunchtime to experience the breath taking views and decided to have a spot of lunch while we were there. There are plenty of places to sit, inside and out, with plenty of water bowls for your thirsty dogs, the only problem seemed to be the two poor bar staff being swamped by eager customers. A queue had formed! But luckily for all a young lady appeared and flew through the orders and all was okay. I had the mixed pate, which was delicious as was the Orchard Cornish cider!
We starting menu after tea and coffee went well but we has been wait for our burger, chip and fish burger with salad, tomatoes and new potatoes for about half hour. Beautiful view but fog, never mind and thanks to staff agreed welcome our dogs in the tables room dogs's.
Lovely setting sadly let down by below average food and tea. Disappointing wouldnt recommend it
It was a beautiful cold crisp Sunday afternoon and my partner and I booked for a late afternoon meal, after we’d been for a walk. The meal itself was very nice although we did wait a fair while for it to be brought out. The same with the puddings, and our second round of drinks didn’t arrive until we’d almost finished our apple pie which wasn’t ideal.
We weren’t in a rush and were busy chatting so none of this affected our experience too much, but I would suggest that the management brushes up on its service and efficiency a bit to make customer’s experience better all round.
Waited a while to be served and the tables to be cleared, food was very greasy. Was ok.
Lovely spot for a meal but the quality of the food does not really match the excellent location. Ordering the food was easy enough but it was approx 20 mins before our external table was cleared after the previous diner. The waiting staff were pleasant enough but they seemed overworked. We had two Ceasar salads that were somewhat un-inspiring and rather expensive for what they were. I do get that their business rates are probably very high up there in that lovely spot but I have had much better quality food at two-thirds of the price.
We stopped at the pub halfway for a coffee but we're disappointed to find they don't offer any milk alternatives. I asked the bar person if they served soya and he said no, only whole milk. They someone else said they could offer skimmed milk.
Was a bit surprised as it's a large chain and I was told this was the reason why they didn't offer it, yet plenty of small businesses do, especially in Brighton.
Waited over an hour for food. It arrived cold and inside the potato's black, no stuffing either as advetised. Had to hunt for cutlery as they gave us two forks and one knife for a table of three. Veggie burger supposed to come with a cous cous salad, however just got salad. What a let down. Serious lack of customer servuce as when pointed out that food was wrong and moldy I got no apology and just an ok. Won't be back.
Thought we'd try the Duke again as not too impressed last time we went. Yet again food had run out. No cutlery as knives had been used. Waiter Jordan trying his best and was lovely. Food was warm and fish goujons on the kids meal more batter than fish. Won't be returning for food.
Just been to the pub. 4 Adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Was told 40min wait for food.... fine!! 2 hours later still waiting for food with no apology or acknowledgment.
Hardly any staff ans busy but they didnt seem to care at all when asked twice where food was politely. Such a shame as lovely located pub!
It took 1. 1/2 hours just to cook fish & chips..absolutely appalling service,it wasn’t that busy either..my desert was bought out twice before I had received my starter..massive let down,I won’t recommend eating here..
