best area, best crew, best atmosphere! such a fun place to stay at!! I spent most of my trip there because I made so many friends and we would stay either at the hostel or Translatee Bar right next door thumbs up :)

User

That staff here at the hostel are all absolutely amazing! But a massive shoutout to Josh and Toby at reception they were excellent! So welcoming and accommodating. Could help us with anything. Thank again My friend and I had never stayed in a hostel before this place but is truely amazing. We meet so many terrific people here and made great friends (Kieran).

User

Stayed in the lady's dorm "Z" and it was super quiet, clean and comfortable! Also the small coffee place connected to the hostel served one of the best croissants I ever had! #nomnomnom Only down part: The website made me think that a padlock for the valuable stuff was included when I actually had to pay additional 5£ at the reception. Was no big deal but maybe you could make that clearer on the website ;)

Cheers, til next time!

User

Lovely hostel. We had a nice stay there twice, because the staff is very cool (especially Berta ;) ) and during the first stay we had a swing in our room, we loved it! Also the breakfast is quite good, you get everything you need. Love to stay there again!

User

Location is perfect, the rooms are clean, the staff is super friendly and the breakfast is great! Definitely recommending the hostel to my friends!

User

If you want to stay in the best area of London, Shoreditch, cool and artsy and want to go out, this is the place. The location is great for those who want to party in bars and pubs and 5 minutes walk from Brick Lane. It can be a bit noisy if you're looking for a quiet night but the wonderful staff definitely make up for that. Big thank you to Cara, Tom and all other very nice and welcoming front desk members, kind and always ready to help you out and make you feel at home. Cheers

User

I always love spending time at this hostel. The atmosphere and staff are so cool. When it comes to the location, besides just being around a lot of great bars, cafes and shops, there are so many awesome creative agencies and studios around. Really feels like you are in the midst of something very special.

User

Great location, great prices, clean rooms with en suite bathrooms (and which were lovely and warm) helpful staff, breakfast was everything you could need, cafe next door serving really good, really affordable food, lovely area, great sense of community; All round a great hostel!

User

Dictionary Hostel, along with the studio/bar of Premises Cafe, where all the band members come to meet, literally changed my life. You can find nice rooms for really cheap next to white-collar Liverpool Street; and there is Brick Lane around the corner, and church on the left also. Thank you.

User

A lovely place to stay, the staff is Very helpfull in al sort of things, there is always someone nice from all over the world to have a chat inside the premises and you fell special in a nice way. I will be back for shure!

User

The hostel is nice and familiar. The staff and the people in reception are correct. The rooms and toilets are clean.

The best thing of the hostel is its localization in the mid-shoreditch.

I would recommend it for staying some days in London.

I've been to many backpackers joints around London, and even over the USA and France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic over decades, and so I am used to cold showers, things disappearing, bed hopping, random conversations and all that jazz. Good as hostels go, vibrant area. Warm shower, soap, bedding, comfy bed, safe storage under bed. Locker room may need more security. No breakfast included as I remember, maybe I was too late. Friendly, helpful staff! Lots of interesting people and exotic times. Few teething problems in hostel that were resolved. Think if I brought my sax, it may have been too wild!

Had good stay over the bank holiday weekend. Bit of a wild blur. Blew lots of money, as often is the case in the greedy, but enchanting, city that is London.

Trying to piece things together even now, looking at receipts from Oyster travel card and bank transactions.

Went to the Charing Cross Theatre on Sat night and saw Grim; a production about death and love - hmmm, bizarre! Then drinks in busy Soho, West End areas. Missed last tube so long bus trip back.Think carried on drinking in Shoreditch around various hip and colourful places.

Sun saw last bit of Notting Hill Carnival, very frenetic, bassy music and messy. Am sure I met that posh lad Spencer(?) from Made In Chelsea TV series, I don't watch it, just seen the ads for it, but he had dyed his hair blonde, if it was him. He denied it. I ended up in mini party with him and a handful of other young, trendies after meeting a random girl in the street.

Very wet Monday, so didn't do much unfortunately. Ended up staying over another night around the area. Two nights without sleep, ouch! About recovered now! Still not found a job yet, but need more savings and a bigger effort searching! May return!

Be good to keep in touch with neon yellow tinged hair Aussie Mike, Spanish Cris and others I had a good chat with.

Think the trip will infuse my future writings.

Have had a great stay here most staff are very friendly and welcoming and fix anything which needs fixing straight away. Had some issues with food being taken by other people even once labelled corrrectly in the shared kitchen and there were only charging points on one side of the room which meant I struggled to charge my phone the whole time here. I have stayed for 9 days for GFW as it is in a great location for walking to Brick Lane (5-10 mins walk). Enjoyed my time here meeting new people and sharing a lifestyle with others. I will be back again next year it throughly excelled my expectations of a hostel.

User

The hostel's location is perfect if you want to explore Shoreditch, Bricklane or Spitalfields Market. I stayed in an eight-bed-room which was full but didn't feel crowded. The mattress and bedding was fine, however individual lamps would be great. Our window opened to the street, which is LOUD. It's obviously really busy on the weekend, earplugs are offered at reception for free. Take them. The facilities are small and could be cleaner. There isn't really space to put your clothes and toiletries while showering. I'd recommend the hostel to people who want to explore said neighbourhoods. The location makes up for its weaknesses.

User

If you want to stay in a different area of London, cool and hipster, Shoreditch is the place. The location is great for those who want to party in bars and pubs and 5 minutes walk from Brick Lane.

However the hostel has problems with accessibility. There is no elevator so if you have difficulty with stairs or are carrying heavy luggages, it is a big problem. Another important point, I stayed in room Z and the beds have no power sockets!!! I had an extension of 5 meters and this was it helped me and the other girls in the room. In one of the beds the cage was broken, not allowing it to be padlocked. Besides, my bed was not with the sheets changed when I arrived.

Positives: As previously mentioned, the location, reminiscent of the bohemian and party area of Lapa in Rio de Janeiro and a cool staff, especially the dear Ellie, very helpful, friendly and kind

User

I paid 31£ for stay a week day in a girls 8 bed room . Was really hard get to sleep because it's a bar just down the hostel and it was very noisy ,also u can hear all the cars . The floor of the room had dust and my side next to my bed , where I supposed to leave my stuff was full of dust :( not very happy ! The stuff in the reception was friendly and smilie ! My next time in London I will Try another hostel

User

One of the worst hostels I have ever stayed.

First of all, booking system is unreliable and unprofessional. I booked for 3 nights through Expedia and recieved confirmtion email. However, the day I arrived, the receptionist said that my whole reservation was cancelled! I asked if I have to pay extra money because it's not my fault. He said that it's not his fault too. Well, fair enough. He said, If I still want to stay with them, I have to change room for the next days. I agreed. On 2nd day, I asked if I have to change the room again for tomorrow, then it turned out that he only booked me in for 2 nights, there's no booking for tomorrow. So I had to change room 3 times for 3 night stays!

Meanwhile, beds at rooms in which I stayed were not fully booked as shown in the websites.

Secondly, it was extremely noisy at weekend because of loud music from bars, clubs nearby and hons from cars, police cars, ambulance cars. OMG. It's impossible to have proper sleep there if you stay during weekend.

Eventhough, I agree that the location is brilliant in terms of transportation and eating. Just 10 minutes walk to nearest tube stations, 1 minutes walk to bus stops. There're a lot of Vietnamese restaurants to try. The room is clean, big enough, WC and bath rooms are convenient.

User

This hostel is very loud (a lot of bars next door that play music until 2-3) and not clean (toilets not cleaned, used towels of former visitors left in dorms, rubbish in the lockers for the bags, full bins in the room). They tell you the tap water is unsafe so they can sell bottled water, and provide lockers without the locks (that you're able to buy at the counter). Breakfast is poor and staff is unfriendly.

User

So disappointed with management. Someone who was very likely a previous staff member broke into a room (knew the pin code for the door and had an electronic card) I was staying in and then cut everyones locks. Over $5000 Australian dollars worth of cash and card money were stolen from people in my room. Not disappointed just for me, but for the people who then booked into the hostel and were not notified of this. Security cameras are very out of date and not positioned in places that would help catch someone.
