Went for a lovely walk with my 2 kids, wife and labrador along the canal with the aim to get to Dirty Duck. 2 miles away and we heard music and we were surprised when we got there that there was in fact a live band and bbq on. Really impressed with the pub. Only negative is that with better advertisement we'd of been better prepared for the day and spent longer then 2 hours there.
We were on a mini break doing a spot off Geocaching and went for a walk nearby along the canal and Viking way then back to the pub for tea. Great setting, friendly staff and tasty food. Would highly recommend eating here and we are so glad it was recommended to us.
We went here for lunch with our daughter and her partner yesterday , on arriving we were welcomed warmly and shown to a tablet, and very swiftly offered drinks , the food was really nice I had the pasta dish and it was probably one of the best ones I've ever had ,the others thoroughly enjoyed they're food , we also had a pudding which was nice too , the service was prompt and friendly , we will definitely be returning
We had a warm and welcoming visit, staff were very pleasant, landlord and landlady Lyn and JF were on the shop floor making sure all ran smoothly. Had the ploughmans platter which was perfect! We liked it so much we came back for Sunday lunch the next day! Thank you for looking after us all 👌🏻😘
This is the perfect stop off after a long canal walk with the dog or bike ride with the family. Great food in a relaxing setting.
The landlady landlord and all the staff have made us very welcome, nothing was to much always happy and smiling they have gone out of their way to accommodate us and our dogs even on New Year’s Eve. Fantastic food and atmosphere. Would highly recommend. Staying on the campsite next door and have visited the bar and restaurant every day
Sunday lunch with a large group of family - service was good, polite and friendly (was a short wait for desserts but they were very busy), food was fabulous. As it was a birthday celebration, we went the whole hog with starters mains and desserts - everything was delicious, well-presented and portions were just right. The decor is cosy but modern (although a blind on the large windows might be an idea as the sun really pours through!) And it's in a lovely position next to the canal with a view of Belvoir Castle. Everyone really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend The Dirty Duck
Lovely re vamp and dog friendly and can smoke outside.
We just missed the food at lunch and didnt have time to try it at 6pm. But i will be back not visited for 25 years! But moving back to the area !
Had a fantastic lunch with 21 other girls for a hen do. Food was fab and the prices were very reasonable. The service was so good, the landlord was very attentive making sure we were all fed and watered. Very high praise for this pub, loved every minute of it! Thank you!
Great location for a wedding. The staff went above and beyond and we loved it.
Food was excellent rump steak was to die for. A mean pimms lovely , staff really friendly kept you informed about your meal & up for a laugh . Will be back soon .
Couldn't give this amazing find anything less than 5* with the service we received on our visit. A pit stop for a group of 20+ hens...they did us proud! As one of the more 'locals' of the group I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this friendly pub and will definitely be back myself. Great food, good prices, friendly staff - what's not to love?!
A lovely place to eat and drink a must if you have never been before.
We are a family group of six (3 generations) and we stopped off for lunch half way along our walk around the canal. Nice to see a place to put our muddy boots just inside the porch and plenty of space for hanging coats (having loads of layers on it being cold). Our table was in a lovely light and airy part of the pub.
The menu gave enough choice to suit everyone in our party and we noted that dietary needs could be catered for.
We were pleased that the choices leaned towards traditional pub food rather than gastro. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. The food was presented well.
We found the service good too and we were well attended to. Staff were polite and friendly throughout the busy lunchtime period.
The overall ambience and atmosphere of the pub was pleasant too. There was no loud music playing so we were able to chat and hear each other which is often not the case in pubs these days.
I would recommend The Dirty Duck as a good stop off point if walking in this area.
Only had a drink but the food looks and smells tasty will be going back to try
After calling at the Dirty Duck some years ago we were delighted with the improvement made to the decor, food and service. We emailed the pub late on the previous evening to book a table and were really pleased that we received a response before we started out the following morning reserving a table and welcoming our visit. On arriving we were greeted and led to our table in a light and spacious dining area. The service and meal was excellent and the very busy landlord found time to have a chat to acknowledge our visit. The pub deserves to do well and is recommended as an ideal place to experience Belvoir, the Grantham Canal and the beautiful surrounding countryside.
A nice country pub, even if the menu is a little limited.
Following its re-boot from the slightly run down canal side pub where I did my underage drinking over 25 years ago to the current much classier establishment, we have sort of adopted this place as our local.
There's a reasonable range of beers, ciders and wines and the menu has some good stuff, but the range is not huge. Everything we have eaten there has been well cooked and presented, but it's pub grub, not gastro.
The live entertainment is worth watching out for and makes for a pleasant Sunday afternoon in the beer garden and now the winter is closing in, snuggled up in the bar is equally as attractive.
We like this pub. It might have had a good spruce up and I am sure that the days of teenage boozing are long gone, but it's still a great place to lose a few hours!
It's a lovely place to relax after a drive around the vale and walk along the canal. When I went in to get a drink the manager and a lad was behind the bar not doing anything. Than a young girl came on to the bar served the person in front of me and than served me, while the other 2 did nothing. I also ordered sharing dish to share. The young girl was very polite, bit has I was walking away from the bar the manager was laughing at the young girl for putting sharing on the ticket and I thought this was really rude. Waited along time for food and wasn't really busy. When food came out the manager brought it out. She said "are you sharing this?" We said "yes", so she than went to get plates. It's a sharing dish so it means sharing it. I found the manager very rude and not polite at all. Think she needs to learn customer service.
Walked down from the village for a meal this evening, only to be greeted very hostilely by the blonde manager.
Her customer service was awful and she seemed to be very irritated by all of our interactions (Asking for menus before 6pm, accidentally putting a wrong PIN in, asking what the seasonal veg was, adding a side to our order minutes after and forgetting to take out cutlery pot, sarcastically stating 'how else will we be able to find your table?'... the restaurant was empty, don't think it would've been too hard.
I've worked in bars and restaurants for years and letting a customer stand at the bar for minutes, without acknowledgement, while three staff members walk around doing menial jobs is just bad practice.
The meals were very average for the price too. Such a shame.
