"On one of the hottest days of the year, we found ourselves melting on Portobello Road and nipping into The Distillery for respite. If you're feeling horribly sticky, head upstairs to tapas bar Gin Tonica, grab a table by the huge, open windows and watch Notting Hill in a cool breeze."

What a brilliant time my husband and I had at The Distillery on Saturday. Cody was a great host and made it funny and enjoyable. The group of people we shared the experience with were all very nice too. We love having our own gin - which we are sipping now!

User

Went there for a drink with a friend. Reasonably priced, good atmosphere.....really good cocktails Loved the place!

User

Went for ‘after work ‘ drinks with my favourite Son!, on one of the hottest days of the year (July 23), sat outside at the pavement tables, great for people watching & to take in the atmosphere of Portobello.

G&T’s were exceptional, if maybe a tad pricey at £11, but that didn’t stop us having a couple each!

Food looked delicious, staff were very friendly & it was a great place to unwind after a busy day at work in souring temperatures.

Will certainly be returning, as there are plenty more Gins to sample!!!

User

Well what an amazing weekend spent in this spectacular venue. Growing older isn’t always the best but when you spend it in such a place like this it makes you forget quite easily. Reviewing this is actually a pleasure. The hotel itself is incredible, designed with retro furniture which makes the experience that little bit more special. A few little things which would improve the room would be little shelf in bathroom to add you own toiletries as placing them on the floor was little bit of a nightmare as fan didn’t really work so once after a steamy shower the floor was drenched., plus a larger sink is required as washing your face results in most the water ending up on the floor. Other than that everything else about the room was incredible. Just make sure the price list match the actual cost of the products as I was charge £5 extra for the directors Cut Gin, yes £5 but all counts in London. I have to say it was nice only knowing there was 3 rooms and our friends where in the others. So no nightmare guests to moan about.

The Ginstitute, well what can I say about that, a birthday present from the team in The Distillery but more than worth the cost for all you Gin Lovers. My husband and I along with our friends highly enjoyed every bit of the fantastic experience with a massive thank you to the fantastic Host Sophie, who give one of the best Gin tours we have ever had. She was incredible and new every question fired at her, just needs to learn how to shout .

The Gintonicer restaurant was also unreal, the food was so nice we actually wish it was closer to home so we could come weekly. 100% praise to all members of staff who went out their way to make us actually feel like we where at home and not just another guests in the establishment. Not sure of his name but thank you to the long haired owner/manager who helped me order a needy pizza at 3:30am this morning, the Gin court up on us all and we needed food to keep us alive.

Overall yes a long review but time needs to be made for the praise and effort this venue makes for their guests as people are more than quick to leave a negative review if they not happy but don’t seem to if it’s good.

One last thing all you Gin lovers save up your penny’s and experience the whole package the establishment has to offer, highly highly recommend and we will be returning. Thank you and see you all soon.

User

We went to the James Bond immersive dining experience last Friday, what a night!

No spoilers, but it was a truly unique experience, fabulous food, amazing drinks, a wonderful setting, we cannot wait to return to try out other themed evenings, we’ll definitely stay next time!

User

We arrived Friday afternoon & booked into the hotel, met by the lovely Abbie who had us laughing before we’d got up the first flight of stairs. The room was really quirky & we loved the record player, gins, mixers & garnishes. We had a great view of Portobello road and the market. The Gin Tonica room where we had dinner was great with good gin and delicious tapas. All the staff were friendly and the service quick. The downstairs bar was lively and again did good gins. We had a fab experience in the Ginstitute learning all about the history of gin and blended our own bottle. What a fantastic way to celebrate my special birthday. Thank you Abbie & team for helping make this weekend amazing

User

This was my third gin experience that I have been to in the last year and this was the best by a country mile. The whole event was well organised and structured in a informal way. Amazing *****

User

The staff could not do enough for you, they were all so friendly. The selection of gins and cocktails were very good and the small shop and on site distillery are well worth a visit. A very popular Spanish style bar. Stayed for the night in a quirky room complete with a working record player and selection of LP's! The Distillery is well worth a visit.

User

If there were 6 stars for this they would get them. The whole experience from booking in to leaving was outstanding. Reception staff polite and helpful. Room brilliant. Tapas food fab. The Gin Experience...outstanding,informative and Fun. Can't remember the first mans name who gave the presentation (too much gin by then) and Cody who help us with our choice of flavourings were great fun. Bar staff downstairs efficient. Cannot fault this whole place. Cheers everyone at the Disilary for making my birthday perfect 🎉🎉

User

Fantastic experience, gin making and history lesson were brilliant, all staff were amazing especially the chef who cooked our dinner. The room was lovely overlooking the market, posh tea and coffee in the rooms as well. All round great 40th birthday present!!

Would recommend it to any gin lover.....

User

Fabulous night at the James Bond experience. Staff were lovely and the food was fab. No spoilers! Highly recommend it .

User

Awesome place to stay. Lovely facilities and the best service you will find. The staff couldn’t do enough to help and were quiet happy to listen to us ramble on about stuff!

Would be more than happy to stay here again.

N.b be prepared to climb a few stairs! Though they do have an elevator (I only found this out after staying there)!

Keep doing what you’re doing guys! 👌🏼👍🏼

User

An amazing two nights spent in this fantastic and unique hotel. The staff were super helpful, informative and friendly. Will definitely be back.

User

Amazing staff, good food and perfect drinks. London as its best!

User

We went yesterday and we had booked into the resturant on the first floor

The first thing that hit us was the v strong smell of paraffin. They apparently use it to cook

We asked to move to the restaurant downstairs

The service was v v slow. We had to get up and ask to order, for the bill etc

We ordered food, most of my chips were not cooked properly and the fish was too oily and lacked flavour

I suppose really you go there for the good gins, which they were.

The staff, when they did finally arrive were good

User

The food, drinks and atmosphere were all so lovely. The staff however do bring the place down. Our greeting wasn’t particularly polite and our waitress was very rude all evening. It’s such a shame because it is a nice place. I had asked them to put candles in the desserts to celebrate some birthdays and the waitress just brought them over and didn’t bother to light the candles. So disappointing.

User

I liked the environment. Shame the resting room is just on the way to the toilets and we didn't have much privacy for our group because of that. People coming and going from the toilets when you have your friends together in a group is not really the best place to be. Specially in your engagement celebration. Thought we would have more privacy by making a booking.

Service, ambient and drinks very good though.

User

Great selection of drinks and location. Downside, £ 2:63 ‘service charge’ for making two cocktails. Thought that’s the bar staffs job. Never been charged that before. Happy to pay for the drinks and VAT, but not service charge. My guest didn’t want s fuss so paid up. Next time i’ll Leave the money on table with the bill, minus service charge.

User

Good gin and tonics but not “special” just an modern like pub with hard liquor. Very busy in the afternoon in the weekend to the extent that not everyone can actually sit.
