The Dog House - Dog Grooming Bracknell

What a rare day at The Dog House! Not a poodle or bichon crossbreed in sight! Instead I had a (totally unplanned) Terrier day consisting of 1 Yorkshire Terrorist and 4 West Highland White Terrorists! Dougie, Archie, Beau, Marley and Ruby were all impeccably behaved... for terriers! Terriers are bred and known for their “brave, mischievous, energetic, active, fearless, independent, playful, and cheerful” temperaments, and not one pooch let the side down today 😂 now, where’s the wine? 🍷🤪

Just a quick reminder to you all that I’m off on holiday now until next Friday! Just nipping over to Texas for a week! See you all when I get back 😊

I would just quickly like to introduce you all to Billy. Billy has been coming to The Dog House since he was 12 weeks old. He’s just had his 11th Birthday! 😬 Time flies when you’re having fun, if asked I definitely wouldn’t have said I’ve been grooming Billy for 11 years! Gawd luv him 😍

Little Bobby had his last groom at The Dog House today ☹️ Doesn’t he look sad about it! I have decided to stop working on Saturdays so I can concentrate more on my new hobby of graciously falling 9,000ft through the sky at 120mph 😂 Luckily Bobby will now go to another wonderful groomer at Perfect Paws Dog Grooming Wokingham so I can stay in touch 😁

Very productive first dental day at The Dog House! Some great results, and also some stubborn plaque that will need a bit more work! All the dogs were wonderful (once they’d worked out what I was trying to do) and looking forward to working on some of these teeth some more next time

Wow! What a difference in one session! Really pleased with the results of my first go using the Emmipet Ultrasonic toothbrush! Looking forward to many more!

Well, I've finally bitten the bullet and bought an Emmipet toothbrush for my clients! I will be holding 6-weekly dental days at The Dog House for all, and new, clients on Mondays. I'm giving myself a couple of weeks to get used to the brush, so my first dental day will be Monday 11th Feb. The cost of these sessions is £30 for an initial 30 minute session, followed by 6-weekly top-ups at £15 for a 15 minute session. PLEASE NOTE - some dogs may require more than one initial session to remove all plaque, which will need to be done sooner than the 6 week top-up to get on top of things. Please let me know if you'd like to book on for this dental day

A lot of my clients maybe seeing this post going around. With our job we are using sharp tools around moving living animals. Even with the highest training and experience with animals, accidents can happen. Unfortunately this poor groomer is being ripped apart as if she intentionally cut this dogs poor tongue. There are two sides to every story! (The dog could be excitable, nervous or just licked out at the wrong time) I really feel for this groomer as I have in the past nick...ed an ear or two, cut a pad etc.... It happens but we don't do it intentionally 😥 it breaks us in two when we accidentally catch a dog I wish it was me when I have done it the past! This is why we ask owners to bring dogs in as puppies get them used to grooming so we can minimise risks etc.... We are only human at the end of the day & this poor groomer is unfortunately now being torn apart! Your dogs welfare is always and most importantly our top priority but accidents do happen ❤️🐾❤️

There seems to be a sickness bug going around the hounds of Bracknell. I know a few dogs who have had it but not got this bad (as far as I know). This is a friend of mines dog, and his symptoms escalated very quickly from the first bout of vomiting and was at the emergency vets within hours of it starting. Please be vigilant! Luckily, Sam is now on the mend, all be it very slowly. Any Dog House dogs showing any signs of this bug, and are due for a groom, please let me know. I don't know whether this is a contagious bug but wouldn't want to share this around my clients

Eeek! Santa Paws has come early to The Dog House!!! He left strict instructions for each dog in December to get a gift! Well, who am I to argue with the top dog? 😁 🎄

The Dog House is now closed for a week while I get some well earned rest and sunshine ready for the (dare I say it) mad Christmas rush! I’ll be back to work on Monday 12th November 😊
