Checkout this review of Sam Qureshi's new album Pele's Groove. On tonight in the Doghouse. " Almost missed this lovely latin influenced jazz record from Manchester, UK based saxophonist, Sam Quereshi and his Nightpatrol, featuring latin rhythms, vocals from Irene Ermellio and a 20-piece orchestra. But the title track is a dancefloor monster, already tested on the fleet-footed regulars down at Shiftless Shuffle, we hear. Only available on vinyl at present, but all songs can be streamed on the link, and it shouldn’t be long until it can be heard more widely."

It includes many well recognized classics alongside less well known gems from the early recordings of the blues greats which give us an originality.

His original songs blend perfectly with the classics, with most listeners believing them to be old songs that passed them by.Phil tours all over the UK, and has played festivals in the US, France, Germany ...and Finland. He has appeared on over 20 albums (and a number 2 hit single), on BBC radio and TV, and performed with award winning musicians. He has a regular column in Uke magazine, and is the author of the book “massively entertaining” Blues Matters Magazine“Genuinely good-time music from ukulele stalwart, who also plays a mean banjo” foots Magazine“some of the best music I’ve heard in a long time”Dan Phelps, Delta blues artist “If you don’t know him already, you should! Fancy a candlelit table, cosy atmosphere and some sublime chilled music? Ben’s rich and elegant voice combined with his effortless piano playing brings the trio’s classic jazz and blues repertoire to life. Backed by an accomplished rhythm section of double bass and drums, they have an impressive streak of ingenuity while offering a wholesome and faithful take on the old songbook. Ben Playford and his trio evoke the output of the Nat King Cole Trio, Mose Allison and the small... ensemble work of Diana Krall. With Ben on piano and vocals, Tim Williams on double bass and Ruben Sheridan on drums the trio draws on influences and repertoire choices from the likes of Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Fats Waller, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone and Peggy Lee to name just a few. Although their repertoire includes many well-known and well-loved jazz standards, it also includes many tunes that are seldom heard on the bandstand today. With fresh arrangements and riveting improvisational interplay the trio’s more modern influences can be heard and make their performances widely accessible to music lovers across the generations. £6 Tickets Ring to reserve a ticket / table (pat 07715572304)

Double Bill! We also have The Cotton panic blues band on from 8 30.
Kent DuChaine has listened to, hung out with, opened up for, traveled and played with most of the great Blues men and women his whole adult life. The list is too long to name them all, but some of the major ones are: Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, Koko Taylor, BB, Albert and Freddie King, Willie Dixon, Bukka White, Johnny Shines, Robert JR Lockwood, Mississippi Fred McDowell,... Furry Lewis and Son House. These were the big Country and Urban Blues influences who Kent heard and/or played with. Kent's early days with the Blues involved him both living and learning the Blues life. He has played in most of the major Blues festivals in the U.S.A. and Europe and was part of a Grammy nominated album recorded at the prestigious Smithsonian Institute Festival of Folk Life in Washington D.C. Great Double bill this Friday in the Doghouse. Adam Franklin singer / songwriter teacher. Signed artist who runs his own summer schools of music. Supported by featival favourite Diamond Dac. FREE ENTRY Checkout the video and read another opinion.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_contin ue=16&v=dTob71fzSrg
... In my book the British artist Adam Franklin should be a national treasure, it should be Sir Adam Franklin! I’ll have a few words with Queen Elizabeth on this matter. Seriously speaking, I do believe that this great artist like so many others does not get as much attention as he deserves. The genre acoustic/unplugged blues is very narrow and I wish it could be wider. This is real music played by real musicians who’s trying to make a living, doing what they love, doing that they are burning for. I am very impressed by Adam Franklin. He is the real deal. What a superb guitarist, ukulele player and singer he is. How I wish I could play like him. I also have to say that he is a very good song writer; seven of the songs are written by Adam.
Think outside the box and go out there and find new music, new artists, you might find them just around the corner. Check Adam Franklin out at: http://www.adamfranklinblues.com/index.ht ml because he sure is worth it.

Went here to see Lucy Lockwood perform. It's a great friendly venue. Pat and Yvette are very welcoming and the club is full of jazz artifacts and interesting curios. The atmosphere was great and really condusive to the jazz. Of course Lucy and her band were fantastic but this place is a hidden gem and I will be back.

User

We love this place Brilliant acts, fabulous hosts. Feels like your in someone's home. Last night we watched The Purpletones, incredible performance by the girls. The standing ovation at the end of the night, said it all. Best place for live music in Ramsbottom.

User

Visited a few times now, have to say great venue, slightly off the beaten track, but well worth the effort to find! Compact, making it intimate but best description is cosy with a wonderful atmosphere created by the talent on show & the owners Pat & Yvette who are the most welcoming hosts. Great variety of bottled beers etc & wine at very reasonable prices for this kind of venue....give it a visit, well worth it for a memorable evening!

User

Had my 40th birthday party here, the place, atmosphere,The wonderful bar staff and the brill DJ of course, couldn't of asked for a better place to of had it.

User

Four of us had the best evenings we've had in years at the Dog House, I was celebrating my birthday, on arrival we entered what looked like an industrial estate but once we were seated we could of been in a jazz/blues club in New Orleans for all we new.

It's a small and very atmospheric venue, you're so close to the musicians and if you enjoy music you will enjoy the Doghouse !!

We will return !!!

User

First time visited this place with a friend last night, it won't be the last.. fabulous place, great atmosphere, DJ the music was just up my street, fab. Everyone up dancing and so friendly.. love the decor.. i want to live in Ramsbottom now lol..

User

Fantastic venue and the hosts are great. I've seen various acts there ranging from Jazz, blues, funk, soul and heavier bands. It's Ramsbottom's answer to the Cavern Club.

Myself and a few friends saw Antonio Forcione last night and we were all in awe of such talent and virtuosity.

User

Fabulous party venue, with such a great atmosphere. We had a private party here for a 50th Birthday. The staff are amazingly helpful too. Hope to return soon for a live music evening or DJ.

User

Another fabulous night in the Dog House last night!

Always made to feel so welcome, huge range of different drinks to try and amazing music! Thank you again xx

User

Amazing little place. Really lovely owners. Vibes perfect.

User

Amazing club, with top notch artists. Had many brilliant evenings there. Thoroughly recommend.

User

Albeit being tucked away in an obscure setting, this venue is a gem. It embodies warmth not only in the decor, the incense that permeates the air but from the owners themselves. The variety of drinks on offer is great and the prices very reasonable. We were fortunate to see the very talented Blues musician Mark Harrison who combines Blue Grass music with various anecdotes and a very wicked sense of humour. Kudos all round.
