Wonderful place... definitely worth a visit!! All of the donkeys are so friendly as were the staff. You can tell that all of the donkeys are well loved and cared for. Fantastic cafe with amazing cake and a lovely gift shop too!! I cannot wait to come back again to see my adopted donkey Cocoa

What a lovely place to visit. We made a very worthwhile 3 hour trip to visit our adopted donkey Zena and would definitely go there again. Easy parking, everywhere is very clean and tidy, and of course the donkeys are adorable and obviously well looked after. There is a great gift shop, children's play area, covered picnic area and a maze (also a restaurant that we didn't use as we brought a picnic). Can't believe you didn't have to pay to get in (although we made good use of the gift shop )

We visited the Donkey Sanctuary during our family holiday in south Somerset. It’s so nice to be able to visit somewhere without massive entry fees. The site is clean and tidy and the donkeys are clearly very well looked after by the team. We enjoyed hearing about the work that goes on at the sanctuary and the importance of this work. The donkeys are so calming and friendly. We ended up adopting a donkey without feeling pressurised at all into spending any money. It was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. Wish we lived closer... we’d be there all the time!

We called in at The Donkey Sanctuary yesterday on our way home from Dorset. What a fabulous place! A quick visit turned into two and a half hours, ending with a lovely cream tea in the spotlessly clean restaurant. I even bought some Christmas cards in the gift shop! Great day out for animal lovers - young and old.

User

The sanctuary is a wonderful place, my son has been working for them for years and they are such lovely people doing a very worthwhile job caring for these awesome creatures. It is also a wonderful place to visit, free to go and very welcoming , with a cup of tea and lovely cakes. If your an animal lover this is the place for you, see these lovely animals up close and see there beautiful souls shine.

User

So nice to see the donkeys are now at a happy place and being well looked after. Bought some lovely Xmas cards and gifts from the shop and it’s really good that all the proceeds go to looking after them too

User

One of the most peaceful, loving, caring places to be. The donkeys eyes tell the tale and the depth of their love and feelings. Look to the eyes always. One of the most loving animals on earth 💕

User

Obviously you need to like donkeys to enjoy this, but if you do, it's brilliant. Even more so when you consider there's no entrance fee! A donation is a must. Make the effort to go and visit the Poitou donkeys, they are beautiful - I can't understand why the sanctuary don't use these more in their marketing.

My husband adopted Bonnie for me last Christmas and on Sunday we went to meet her. I was amazed at how close you were able to get to the donkeys and mules and was absolutely thrilled to be able to pet Bonnie. The Donkey Sanctuary is an amazing place to visit and has many amazing stories to share about the donkeys that live there. We will be back next year and are planning to adopt a donkey for my mum next Christmas

User

It’s like Heaven on Earth for Donkey Lovers and the Donkeys who live there.

Beautiful donkeys in a peaceful setting. Lovely helpful staff, great food (great vegan options) and a wonderful day out - got to meet my sponsor donkey at last

User

An amazing place with amazing, dedicated & friendly professional people. You MUST visit to see the tireless work these guys do. It will break your heart when you see some of the stories but so rewarding when you see the outcome of all the hard work. PLEASE LIKE & DONATE if you can. Keep up the great work guys.

User

Amazing place. The donkeys are incredible and so well looked after. Really spoilt...as they deserve to be. We loved the cafe, the menu is very different and the food was fabulous. I'd return just for the food. Food with a view as it looks all out over the fields. Highly recommended for all ages, young or old. Oh and adopt a donkey while you're there!

User

Amazing place. Lady on reception was wonderful. The cafe was lovely. But most of all the donkeys are happy and beautifully cared for by all the staff. Have recommended the sanctuary to friends.
