Hazjack About HAZJAK is a new duo for 2018 comprising Steve Chapman Smith (guitar, bouzouki and vocals) and Lynne O'Malley (keyboards, vocals and percussion) Strong harmonies rooted in the folk, Americana, blues and roots genre. Biography Steve Chapman Smith and Lynne O'Malley are both well known and respected on the Northern music circuit and have decided to bring their musical talents together with Hazjak.... Steve has performed and recorded with Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Susan Herndon, Ghostdance, The Troubadors and has recorded 4 John Peel sessions with Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and Ghostdance. Lynne is known for her harmony singing with a capella folk trio Yan Tan Tether and arranges harmonies for Henry Priestman and Les Glover. Steve writes gritty songs about real life - some political rants, some heart-wrenching love songs, and plays guitar and bouzouki. Lynne concentrates on complementing Steve's work by creating beautifully warm harmonies and piano accompaniments that add texture and depth. Influences Our influences are wide ranging. Steve more from the darker independent side! Steve Earle, James McMurtry, Lucinda Williams, Drive by truckers, Velvets, Warren Zevon. You get the gist! Lynne's eclectic taste takes in early blues such as Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters, but she was brought up on trad jazz - Satchmo and co. Her vocal preferences usually involve harmonies so the Beach Boys and the Eagles feature heavily. Her piano influences include Richard Tandy of ELO and Christine McVie.

Really looking forwards to The Drummers Arms This Coming Sunday 2pm to 5pm with Tennessee Waltz and Keystone Acoustic . NOT to be missed Open mic spots are as always available . Full Pa and sound man provided too . Hope to see a few friendly faces down for a top afternoon :) . Tennessee Waltz·Wednesday, Hi, we're Jimmy and Sarah-Lou (also of Jimmy Rae & the Moonshine Girls), a highly experienced and professional acoustic vocal harmony duo with a passion for all things country... and Americana.
Having performed together in other bands since 2015, we formed Tennessee Waltz after being approached by some music-loving friends to play at their wedding in 2016. It was an intimate boutique affair in a stunning historic venue and our acoustic harmony driven set perfectly suited the relaxed atmosphere. So we decided to do more... and people seem to be liking us! Our repertoire draws on some of the greatest country flavoured songs from the last 50 years, from Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and the Everly Brothers to The Eagles, Neil Young and Emmylou Harris through to the recent hits of Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and the Shires. Our performance is completely live - strictly no backing tracks - with our complementary vocal harmonies very much at the heart of our sound. Keystone
Pam and Peter Stone are Keystone, Yorkshire musicians and songwriters.
Available for all acoustic-friendly venues.
NEWS FOR 2018
Our diary has 40 gigs in for the year - the majority being return bookings.

Andrew Sugden - Moorcock Acoustic Music Night, Blacko (Sept 14)
'If you want a great duo for your gig, Keystone Acoustic are warm, friendly and very talented musicians. Peter's guitar playing and Pam's singing and uke playing were excellent as always, and their rich and varied programme never flagged. We got fourteen songs from Paul Simon, Tom Russell, Pam herself, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and other traditional and contemporary material AND an excellent ragtime guitar solo.'
Andy Kershaw Radio/TV presenter
'It's rare I hear a duo singing John Prine, a George Formby-esque original and then Nanci Griffiths with such ease..... I'll sing 'Lonestar State Of Mind' with you when you come back to The Three Wise Monkeys'.

User

cracking little pub good selection of proper beer, friendly staff and good music what more can you ask for? oh and no idiots ha

User

What a fantastic pub, it has local beers from local breweries right in the centre of Blackburn. The owner Katie was very hospitable and so was the barmaid. I will definitely make The Drummers Arms my go to pub when I'm in Blackburn. This is a must for real ale enthusiasts.

User

Very friendly place , the lady behind the bar was lovely. Great selection of beers, gins. We will return

User

Real ales take priority on the counter like a country pub, offers a comfortable retreat from it's urban surroundings. What a brilliant thing it is to have something that is sensually human, put together for people, not just for business. The Drummer's Arms combines relics of pub culture together in a way that complements the modern direction Blackburn is heading - The place is a work of art!

User

Perfect addition to the town centre, good ale and lager and love how it's decorated with furniture that's been recycled from old Blackburn pubs that have closed, defo something the older generation will feel nostalgic over, bar staff are really lovely too.. great prices would encourage anyone to give it a visit if you're in town

User

My wife and I called in because it looked interesting and we'd just been in #themakingrooms (the Making Rooms are across the road and worth finding out about too btw). Hadn't heard anything about the Drummers before so this is an "as it was" account. Sometimes you go in a pub (and I know it's a new bar) but you feel like you're in a place with some accent on tradition. This was one of those. Good real ale as well as modern types, (I had a dark mild, not seen it proper or tasted it for so long- it was bloody lovely too). Atmosphere was excellent, staff warm and welcoming. There's nothing to dislike about the Drummers. I'm looking forward to going again (and it won't be long before I do). Well done for opening this pub. I like it!

User

Lovely pub. A warm welcome on arrival, friendly service, in a good old fashioned environment. Such a refreshing change from the "identikit" pubs you see everywhere. This is an individual pub, a cut above the others. The prices were reasonable, with real ales and real ciders available. It was our first visit, but definitely not our last.

User

Love it..I've been twice in 2days! !! Going again at weekend..really friendly staff an great atmosphere..decent prices..

User

It's a cracking place and perfectly complements Malloys and the Napier within two minutes walk (plus the cocktail bar opening next door in March). The beer is well-kept and £2.50 a pint or £3 for the mind blowing scrumpies ;-) Great music too every time I've been in, including the classic album Thursdays. It's well worth a look when you're on that side of town for a proper pub.

User

I had a tremendous time performing at The Drummer's Arms on Sunday! Terrific people and a friendly atmosphere! Well decorated with lots of classic pub signs and posters on the walls!

User
