What a lovely Sunday lunch. Not only plenty of food but good quality and very friendly staff. We had a Christmas lunch last year and it was amazing that is why we came back. Looking to have a Christmas lunch this year. Keep up the good work and see you soon �

We'd been to Bolsover Castle and googled to find a good eating place near by and this one looked good!

I have to say it was excellent! The staff were very friendly and attentive and the menu choice was fab. I had mussels as a starter followed by salmon fillet with freshly made pasta and spinach and even tho I was quite full with gentle persuasion from our waitress decided I couldn't resist the special ice cream of 'honey comb and fig' in a brandy basket! With a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to compliment the dishes. My parents had the Halibut and highly recommended it! We will def consider travelling back again from Derby in the future. Thankyou for making our day out a delight! 😃

Visited this evening for the first time after attempting to make a reservation several times prior to today but being unable to due to them being fully booked and now I know why... The food is beautiful, the staff are very efficient and it is a lovely, warm and welcoming environment. We’ll certainly be returning!

The starter of Mussels in white wine and cream was absolutely gorgeous ! Better than the Mussels I had in Brugges in December ! The main course of Salmon was cooked to perfection ! No room for Dessert Haha !! Generous portions! Lovely staff ! Early Mother's Day Meal for me ! Would recommend The Elm Tree to anyone wanting good food ! Compliments to The Chef and kitchen staff, in fact all staff ! OMG I could go on and on and on :D

Loved everything about this place. The food was excellent the service and atmosphere was very good. Even the drive through the village was interesting as they were having some sort of garden fate and well dressing. Definitely returning again soon.

It’s the third time we have visited. My husband booked for our fifteen weeding anniversary meal was excellent just wish you were eat so we could visit more often.

Had been once before, it was excellent. We came this time for Father's day hoping for another lovely meal and it didn't disappoint. The food is lovely and fresh and the staff are friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

1st time I've been and very friendly staff I was sat outside enjoying the sunset � when the staff realised we had a dog they all came out to see and fuss him and bring him water will definitely be calling there more often now some lovely beers � too

Lovely place lovely food and didn't have to book in ! A little bit in the stocks so best way to get there is by car if your not a local but over all I was pleased !

I had chicken & pasta dish the creamy sauce was gorgeous and would definitely recommend. My husband had venison & they even altered the sauce it came with to suit him! Very tasty meal �

Decided to try The Elm Tree for their Hogmanay party. There were four of us and we arrived just after the start time of 7pm which was probably too early. A fabulous buffet arrived about 9pm. There were whizzer balloons, poppers and streamers on every table and the staff and most guests were in fancy dress. A fabulous night was had by all. Thank you Elm Tree..!!!

This has always been a favourite of ours, and you need to book in advance. We went yesterday and got booked in at the last minute. Noisy but not as busy as before. Food excellent- staff were friendly however, the service was terrible. Had to ask for plates to be cleared. Had to keep reordering drinks. Ask for dessert menus- no one came back for an order. We asked for the bill and said how disappointing our visit was, but this was a wasted effort, bill took forever! What a shame when the food is so good.

I was very disappointed with the food and menu, after having superb carverys on Sundays decided to try an evening meal for my daughter's birthday.. I ordered creamy garlic mushrooms with peppers to start With, there were few bits of mushrooms and loads of peppers and they were all you could taste.. the salad that came with it was brown and old. Then I was completely stuck with the main course and didn't even have steak to fall back on as there was only sirloin which I don't like or a 20oz t-bone which is far too big, decided on chicken fajitas served with salad and chips ...5 tiny pieces of dry chicken and heaps of peppers and onions ... lovely chips and brown lettuce ...have to say the staff were amazing just very sad about the food, the rest of our party felt the same so sadly won't be back.

Really disappointing been coming here for years. Staff were at bar moaning about working having only worked one shift this month after holidaying all over.



Guy who served drinks clearly wasn’t impressed to be at work very lathargic and no smile and unwelcoming.



Then there was dog poo next to our table, staff moaned about cleaning for up and table seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned for a week. Really sticky and covers in tree debris and dust.



Ordered four meals and I ordered two steak baguettes one with Stilton one with cheddar both came with cheddar, mine had two tiny pieces of steak in my t as did my husbands. The salad was covered in soil hadn’t been washed



Outside three umbrellas only on about ten/twelve tables and grass desperate for a mow, old rusty umbrellas left lying about along with other debris and litter that needs cleaning.



All in all not the usual standard we expect from the Elm tree.

Absolutely love this place as the food is great but the service today was terrible. We was advised they were two people down when this was raised before leaving but I felt the staff was just wondering around looking lost. We had to ask for pretty much everything and one member of our table was waiting 20 plus minutes for a coke! We also had a very long wait times in getting menus and orders being taken for main and dessert. We also heard another table complaining they had been sat for 20minutes without even being given a menu and had to go up to the bar and ask for some! If the food wasn’t as good as it is I wouldn’t be going back there after today.

We have been for some lunch today and was utterly disappointed.

The bar service for drinks was slow, stood there almost invisible, to then have our drinks given to us in slow mo.

Ordered our food, menu looked immense and appetising. We was really looking forward to it, ordered, then they had ran out of one starter (no probs chose something else) starters came looked and tasted good. Main meals came; “chips” (deep fried wedges) were soggy, the Fajitas were bland over cooked and the presentation was dismal. The specials chicken and chorizo pasta was also bland and the sauce like water. Children’s meals read like good quality meals, they came and were again a deep fried soggy mess. The lamb special dauphinoise potatoes never seen anything like it. Pudding no thanks seen enough, massively put off. Go to the car to pay and again 15 mins if not longer to pay the bill that was insanely over priced for what we got!



Will not be returning and will not be recommending.

We came for a meal Sunday, used to love your place but was so disappointed, the service was appalling, had to ask for menus, slow getting food out, my meal got sent back tasted disgusting, nothing like lasagne, had lasagne loads of times with you, my brother’s salad was old with brown on edges, given better stuff to rabbits, daughters steak like rubber. Desserts tastes cheap and not at all as luxurious as they used to be.

Previous time we came there was mould on tomatoes, only came as this is where birthday girl wanted to come, more fool her, then to top it off 3 of us have been ill all night with same symptoms !!

What a shame you’ve let your standards slip we certainly won’t ever be returning !!

We called in for our tea yesterday evening as it was a nice night and we sat outside in the beer garden , which was very tatty . My husband went inside and ordered 2 scampi and chips and brought out our drinks. The food came very quickly (which to me is always a bad sign) but I was shocked when the waitress put the food down because the scampi peas and chips were served inside a very small terracotta bowl , not much bigger than a soup bowl. I joked with my husband that he must have ordered off the children’s menu , but the food was also awful, refried and warmed up. I have always normally eaten inside when I have visited before and have normally been impressed with the food , so I’m not sure if it has changed ownership but it was the worse meal I’ve had in a very long time.
