So it's been 10 days since we last saw all your lovely faces and we miss you. Go on, tell us...what are you missing about us the most? 😍

Tonight at 8pm Britain will be out on their doorsteps, windows and gardens to pay tribute to the brilliant work our doctors, nurses and carers are doing to keep us safe and healthy with a round of applause for the #ClapForOurCarers campaign.

THROWBACK THURSDAY
Lockdown: day 3. Fancy a little history lesson?
Back in the day The Exchange was a Barclay's Bank. It closed in 2002 and The East Anglia Pub Company bought it at auction, and turned it in to the pub that we all know and love today 😉.
... It was named 'The Exchange' as a nod to the building's financial history - we still utilise the original bank vault and use it as our beer cellar. Take a trip down memory lane and cast your eyes over these pictures to see just how much we've changed over the years! (pictured as Barclay's in 1977 and 1964).

We have made the sad but sensible decision to cancel all our quizzes and live music for the time being, in order to keep our staff and customers safe.
If you're going to miss the live music as much as us there's a light at the end of the tunnel as those clever people at SoSlam have created the Isolation Room. This means you can still catch key members of the Southend music scene doing their thing, but in the comfort of your own home! T...onight one of our favourites, Darren Jones, will streaming live from 7pm. Amazing.

THE EXCHANGE - WE ARE OPEN
Following the current coronavirus situation (Covid-19) we wanted to update all our friends and customers on the current situation.
Going forward we will be following government guidelines. Current advice is to avoid social gatherings and stay away from bars, clubs and restaurants. For those doing this, we fully support your decision. However, as we have not been told to close our doors to the public as yet, we will continue to open until we're told ...otherwise. In these times of uncertainty we believe that community spirit can help get us through and so our friendly team are looking forward to seeing you. Obviously we appreciate that we will not see some of our regulars for a while but we look forward to welcoming you back to The Exchange in due course.
The health and safety of our staff and customers is extremely important and we have introduced extra procedures with regard to cleanliness. We do a deep clean of all points of contact before and after opening, and throughout the day.
Naturally we ask that if you are showing symptoms that you follow the recommended guidelines.
We hope that everyone stays safe and healthy. Our staff are always here to help so should you have any queries, regarding future bookings or otherwise, please call us on 01702 447070.
