Some action shots from Mervyn's wood making workshop last weekend.
For those that get the "green wood bug" and want to make more advanced items - a three legged stool for example - Mervyn will be on hand to run further workshops at The Pottery during the year - just email info@thefarnhampottery.co.uk

An inspiring Workshop with Mervyn Mewis
Mervyn will have a select group of just 7 participants in his Workshop on Saturday 10 March at The Farnham Pottery. He will provide insights into working in green (unseasoned) wood using traditional techniques. Mervyn will describe his processes, starting in the woods he works to protect, and then on to demonstrate how he builds his exquisite furniture from locally-sourced timbers.
Participants will be introduced to working with the dr...awhorse and drawknife, and will fashion timber items in the Workshop. There is a strong "hands on" component to the day. All materials and equipment will be provided. No previous experience is necessary, a desire to be involved, and a reasonable hand-eye co-ordination is all that is needed.
The one day workshop is £95 including all materials and a light lunch. To book email info@thefarnhampottery.co.uk

Don't miss the talented contemporary artist Tom Platt and his exhibition: The Place between Painting & Sculpture
in his own words; 'The Owls Are Not What They Seem is a collaboration with Farnham Pottery, with the history of the place and the people that make it work past and present. In the work I reference the buildings, the Owl Jugs for which the pottery is famous; and the work is about the difference between art and craft, the difference between a fine art object and work... of fine handicraft.
The Owls Are Not What They Seem is part of an on-going project about painting and surface. Investigating the point at which painting leaves the surface and texture becomes structural, and structure can become architectural. I often work on 3-D armatures so that there is no fine line between what I am making and sculpture, but I consider myself to be a painter. I am interested in mark-making as a means of transcribing the ineffable present, and I choose paint to translate and embody my behaviour in the studio.'

What an amazing venue with true historical character. The whole ambience exedues creativity and immediately inspires a desire to create something :) I went to an artist's exhibition here and it was a perfect setting for such talent. Highly recommended.

Took my children for their first visit to the cafe. They loved the quirkiness of the pottery and cafe and thought the milkshakes were delicious.

This was my first time visiting the Farnham Pottery and I am more than impressed. I went there to see an exhibition and talk by Adele Goulty. An amazing venue, lovely people, Adele Goulty's stunning art work and a talk that was inspirational.

Thank you I will most certainly visit again and perhaps join in on a course.
