The Fate Of The Faraway Estate Description

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama collaborates with one-to-watch director Hannah Sharkey to present ‘The Fate of The Faraway Estate’. Inspired by Enid Blyton’s classic tale ‘The Folk of the Faraway Tree’, and the Focus E15’s housing protest, the production explores the themes of community, housing, and people power! The interactive nature of the performance allows children and adults alike to help decide the fate of the far away estate, its magical tree, and weird and wonderful residents.

We follow Sam, a boy who sees the worst in the world around him: a true cynic. Sent to stay in a mysterious, magical tower block in the centre of the city to regain his lust for life, he begins a series of life-changing adventures. He is reluctantly drawn into an eccentric community, built around the tree that grows, impossibly, through the middle of the block. Sam’s cynical nature is challenged when this unique neighbourhood is threatened by the T. Rolls developers.
