About The Fenn Bell Conservation Project

Our story started in 2011 when I saw an advert on the internet to re-home two kune kune pigs. After taking on many more unwanted pets we decided in 2014 to open our doors to the public, and in the same year we took over the Fenn Bell pub and gardens, starting work on what it is you see today. To be able to open to the public we had to get a zoo licence and after a hard two years of work we were finally granted our zoo licence and we opened our doors in June 2017. People have said that we are crazy to take on such a big project, and to be fair, i think you had to be, to achieve this. The truth, is that many people have helped and given there support. Without this help we could not achieve what we have.
Our plans moving forward are quite ambitious, we want to work on more British conservation projects such as red squirrels and British honey bees. We will build an education center that can be used by schools and university's, but most of all our duty is to give a home for life to the animals just like ginger and spice our kune kune pigs (who still live with us). I hope you enjoy coming here and don't hesitate stopping me or any of the staff, if you see any of us walking around for a chat. We are very blessed to be given a chance to create such a place as this and with your support we can continue to achieve so much more.

We are looking for an additional member of staff to work in our outside Kitchen throughout the school summer holidays!
Experience preferred, and reliability is essential. You will need to be 18 or over due to the sale of alcohol. Please contact us at fbcukproject@gmail.com if you are interested.

Just finished, now its time for bed before we reopen tomorrow. Had a great day today, we had the team from direct line insurance in on a team bonding day today.
They really pulled all the stops out and helped us lay 200 square meters of turf then they went off and met the raccoons and meerkats. Since finishing the meerkat enclosure we have been busy refurbishing our fox enclosure. This includes a returf and wire, new glass windows, new tunnels and climbing frames as well as a new entry gate. This has been made possible by the guys from Escape Plan LIVE. Who have sponsored our lemurs, with the money being used to do the work in the fox enclosure. Thanks guys!

Our Safari Trek will be running from 12pm - 4pm and is included in the price of your zoo entrance, and our outside kitchen is open serving a range of hot food and cold drinks!

Well what a weekend, the weather was fantastic and we were packed out. WE HAVE MORE BIG NEWS TODAY. we are please to tell you we have found another sponsor. Ross and the guys form ESCAPE PLAN LIVE based in Chatham have very kindly sponsored our lemurs. The money they have donated will go to two projects, 1st the refurbishment of our fox enclosure and whats left over will go to our otter project which we are still looking for a sponsor for. We can't thank Ross and his team enough and I hope to work with him on a little project we are cooking up together for here...
If you are looking for a great family fun time over the school holiday why dont you try this out. www.escapeplanlive.com

Its been nearly 2 years of trying to get the money together but finally we did it. Today we moved the meerkats into their new home. It's not often I get tearful, my wife says I've got a swinging brick as a heart but today there was tears of joy watching them explore their new home.
We have also managed to finish the extension to our raccoon enclosure, again well needed. There are many to thank for this, Rowland and team from Handar Paving, the guys from Ifeild school, Brian the chippy, Connor and the team that work with me in the zoo but most of all Allhallows Leisure Park for sponsoring the enclosure. Without this, it would not have got done.

IT'S THAT FRIDAY FEELING.... AND THE BIG PLUS, ITS THE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS NEXT WEEK.
Every day the bouncy castle and our safari will be running. Its £4 adults and £4 kids to enter the zoo and the safari and bouncy castle is free to use.
We also, after 2 years of trying, have finally finished our new meerkat enclosure and tomorrow's the big day, they move in. We have also finished the much needed extention for our raccoons.

Time for another update on our foxes! Integrating the cubs back into the family group is going really well!
Amy; one of our keepers, managed to get this great little clip of Fawn playing with one of the adults!
