User

Really great atmosphere, nice staff, good service and great food. We had the pizza and it wasn’t too stuffy so was able to eat it all! A shame about the wasps but that’s hardly their fault.

User

Excellent to sit by the fire with my friend . Just Magda and her assistant waited the bar and restaurant brilliantly . They were friendly ,professional .

Please - would management please ensure there are sufficient and more staff on to run the entire ferry .

It is grossly unfair to leave such excellent employees as Magda and her assistant as so undersupported . They both deserve promotion for the wonderful welcome me and my friend received last Thursday ( November ) .

User

One of our favourites because of the fabulous location. We were lucky enough to go on the day of the swan upping, so lots to watch on the river. Service is a bit slow but they were very busy. Food was fine, but I wish they would bring back the sticky chicken, really yummy.

User

Lovely setting good ambience food ok but whatever way the pork crackling was done very poor. Unable to eat. Would have been best to leave it off the plate. Otherwise lovely staff pleasant experience

User

Met with my friends on a beautiful sunny day - wow what a setting the garden terrace sits right on the side of the Thames & is wonderful. The food & wine were good all freshly cooked & hot but sadly the service let it down completely. There was no table service outside (apart from bringing your food) they even expected people to carry their own hot drinks outside from the bar. When I asked a young waitress about the lack of service she said they only had an outside service at weekends. However when we paid our bill a very nice young gentleman explained that he had just started the day before & to please give him a couple of months to turn things around. I do wish him well & hope he can get the problems sorted because it's a lovely pub & deserves to do well.

User

I was there on Sunday 15th Oct I was very disappointed with the whole thing, we were given no time to look at the menu then before we had eaten our starters the main course was brought our the service was appalling and the food wasn’t even that good, I would not recommend it to anyone very bad....

User

Food is good. Service needs serious improvements. Speed up and less attitude. You are serving food to customers not cooking dinner for ya mates.

User

What an embarrassing meal hosted by my friend - over an hour to get a drink and then had to reorder everything. The food - when it was finally delivered was good- but the staff - shambolic- a total embarrassment for the host

User

We went early on a Saturday evening. It certainly wasn't busy. The food and drinks servers need to get their act together. Our aperitifs arrived with our starters and the wine arrived as we were finishing our mains. There was no gap between courses meaning we were in and out within an hour. Hardly a Saturday night out. We had no complaints about the quality of the food but definitely won't be returning.

Visited the Ferry Sunday 29/7/18.

First ever visit.

To be honest, first impressions were good location, good decor, pleasantly met by the waiting staff.

The orders were taken, the drinks arrived, we then had a short wait for the food, being a Sunday it was slightly busy, not as busy as you would expect as the weather was not great where it had been pouring down with rain.

The food arrived, it was well presented the portions slightly on the small size, considering the price and the size of the plate.

My next problem was the meal itself was not hot, it was Luke warm, if any thing the plate it was served on was warmer than the food.

2 meals had to be sent back to the kitchen, one was fully replaced the other had the vegetables replaced but not the meat ( part of a piece of chicken was removed from a leg, we got the same leg back). A third meal was only just passable to be eaten as a presentable temperature.

Needless to say we were not impressed with the food at a cost of £160 for 5 adults and 4 children,, this was our first visit and our last !

User

Very dissapointing night. Lovely young waiter but unhelpful manageress and very poor quality food.

User

Our first visit to The Ferry, can't fault the food but sadly the service was below par. Waited ages to have our order taken and and when the food eventually came had to ask for the remainder to be brought out. It then took ages to pay the bill as the staff were more interested in chatting to themselves than looking after their paying customers.

User

Not up to the standard it use to be, shame as a great location, hoping they bring back the honey, lemon n chilli chicken they used to do......that then might entice me back

User

I have been at The Ferry numerous times and loved it. This time service was appalling, took an hour and a half for the main course. Decided not to have dessert in case another hour an a half was needed for it to be served. Asked for the bill. Got it straight away but took ages for someone to come to take the payment...only after calling the waiter. Shame

User

I first went to the ferry 10 years ago the food and location was excellent always said I would return, and I finally did some years later.

I booked my table online and then called to change time and confirm a table with a view of the river.

Attended the fery on Sunday 20th August 2017. I Went here with two friends for my birthday for a typical English roast. We did not get the promised table with view on the first floor instead they wanted to seat us slap bang in the middle of the floor. We wasn't agreeable and was then seated in the lower floor area a bit cold due to open doors lending to outside. We waited 45mins for our main when it arrived it was cold. The Yorkshire puddings were large way too crispy and stone cold. We wasn't going to complain but I was so upset as I had driven from Slough past a few good restaurants to attend the ferry. They took our meals and then we waited another 35mins for another dinner which was a little warmer but lacked seasoning and taste. They gave us 25.00 of the bill the bill for 3mains 1 nibble n share 1 bottle of wine 2 pints of lemonade came to 75.09 after discount. Going out for Sunday roasts used to be lovely but this was awful tough beef the pork crackling looked like elephant tusk and unless you were jaws from the bond movie no way could you bite it. We didn't order dessert as we wanted a quick get away. BTW There was also no tissue paper in two of the ladies cubicles! Another 10years can lapse before my next visit.

User

Dined yesterday with family, waited over half an hour for our table which we had booked, food came out cold, all 4 adult meals were sent back, then had to wait another 30 minutes, when it came, potatoes were burnt, not enjoyable at all, waitress asked if our food was hot not if we were happy with it, saw manager, dress in jeans and a t-shirt, not professional looking at all, his response was 'what do you want me to do about it' really didn't care, they then sent a bill over for full price!! Which we obviously refused to pay. Such a shame as we have dined here several times with no issues.

User

Like the George in Wargrave it used to be a great riverside spot.

Their two identical websites are obviously owned by a chain that's taken these (and possibly other lovely local restaurants) over

Imagine a really really bad harvester or Bernie inn with awful service and food that comes out intermittently but yet still costs the same as one of your favourite restaurants.

That's what's has befallen these two previously nice places.

Hopefully things will improve fast.

User

I have dined at the Ferry several times and had been very pleaded with the service and enjoyed the food. I have also had a drink after work on Fridays and so was looking forward to be being treated to a special Mothers Day lunch by my two daughters, particularly as it was opening after being refurbished. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations.

1. The car park was full and we had to wait along time to get a parking space.

2. The member of staff had written down my name down incorrectly at the time of booking and we spent a worrying 5 minutes wondering whether we would get a table.

3 We had to wait 30 minutes before our waitress actually greeted us and took drink orders and also food orders.

The starters arrived before the drinks (so now 40 minutes without a drink)

4. The waitress when she actually bought the drinks, after it was pointed out that we were still waiting for the drinks, said she would get a wine cooler for the prosecco. It did not materialise until we reminded her 15 minutes later.

4. The main meals arrived before the plates for the starter had been cleared away.

5. The food was good, although my meal could have been hotter.

6. Every time we asked the waitress something about the courses she did not know and would have to go and check.

7 We were served by a total of 3 different people.

Needless to say we did not leave a tip.

Will I revisit the Ferry? Probably not, despite its beautiful surroundings

User

Dreadful. Appalling service (if you could call it “service). All but had to trip the waiter over to actually give him an order.

We were ignored - as were others - and left with dirty tables.

Staff obviously not trained and not interested.
