Our very popular 'little gem' Lettuce!
'Lettuce' is such a gentle, sweet natured soul, everyone falls in love with her ❤️❤️❤️ - some years ago she was, unbelievably, abandoned (along with Harry) in the middle of winter with temperatures below freezing in the North of the country. We are just so privileged to have her living with us at Flicka.
We hope you have a great day today and a wonderful weekend everyone xxx

It's Emma, Sable's best friend and one of the Twilight Herd, just peeping out from her barn, a really gentle and sweet soul ❤️❤️❤️
It was another warm dry day yesterday, but despite this the donkeys are all growing their winter coats, looking fluffy and cuddly!! ;-)
Enjoy your day everyone, come and visit the donkeys if you can, coffee and cake too xxx

It's the very tiny and very beautiful Sable outside her barn yesterday. Our little miniature black nose Mediterranean donkey. Shipped in illegally from the US some years ago for intensive breeding, thankfully she was seized by animal welfare.
Sable is so friendly and so gorgeous and very bonded with Emma. 💕💕💕
Don't forget folks, we are closed the w/c 15th October and open again on the 20th. The entrance track is being resurfaced - at last!!
... Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone xxx

After yesterday's photo of Mary we thought you may like to see 'Humphrey's Herd', a peaceful, late afternoon setting with Penny, Paddington, Humphrey and Mary, a gorgeous little group of innocents. 💕💞💕
Have a terrific Tuesday everyone xxx

It's Mary for Monday on the 1st October.......❤️❤️❤️
Such a pretty little girl, Mary was saved from live export and still has the hole in her ear from the 'tag'. She was very nervous and defensive when she first arrived, but now her group of friends are Penny, Paddington and big Humphrey, Mary can always be seen grazing beside them, she has been taken willingly into their bonded group .
Have a great start to your week and month everyone xxx
... ....don't forget the centre will be closed w/c 15th October until the Saturday (20th October) for entrance resurfacing before the winter.

"For centuries poets, some poets, have tried to give a voice to the animals, and readers, some readers, have felt empathy and sorrow. If animals did have voices, and they could speak with the tongues of angels—at the very least with the tongues of angels—they would be unable to save themselves from us. What good would language do? Their mysterious otherness has not saved them, nor have their beautiful songs and coats and skins and shells and eyes."

Thomas & Olly playing rough and tumble in the sunshine yesterday....two young boys who will never know anything except comfort, food, dry, warmth and love ;-) unlike their poor Mums, Susie and Lottie, who endured years of suffering before they came to Flicka.
We love this clip....wait till the end when they both suddenly realise they are being watched!!
Have a super Saturday everyone xxx

The lovely 'Blue' against a beautiful blue sky yesterday. Rhapsody and Blue are Budapest donkeys, saved after a tourist saw their plight and poor condition when pulling a heavy cart.
Blue is always up for a game with anyone, he loves playing with Olly and always keeps playtime kind and gentle, he just knows he is a big strong donkey ❤️❤️❤️
... Have a fabulous Friday everyone xxx

It's your ten second smile clip today!☺️
As you know we are keeping a close eye on Horace since he lost his soul mate Little Bertie, our young donkey Walter has not left his side and Horace is getting lots of fuss and cuddles from everyone.
At the weekend Becca had some Horace hugs and then he had some lovely back scratching, check out the lips ;-) ... Lovely gentle man Horace ❤️❤️❤️

Everybody loves these girls (especially todays’ author) ;-)
Jewel and her daughter Jemima and we never tire of telling their story. Jewel arrived from the continent, emaciated and terrified, we could not get anywhere near her, sitting in her pen reading from books helped her get used to our voices and being in close proximity to her. We didn’t know she was in foal initially.
As Jewel began to trust us, she then gave birth to Jemima, it was a difficult birth for her, in poor ...condition and probably her first, she tired quickly and required help. Jemima's arrival was a huge turning point for Jewel’s trust in us, Jemima was so friendly with people Jewel had to follow suit if she wanted to keep a close eye on her daughter. Now the girls absolutely adore fuss and cuddles, we just can’t leave them, they make us late for everything!!😘❤️💕❤️
Have a terrific Tuesday everyone xxx

Such striking girls.....!
Beatrice (left) and her daughter Bunny walking purposefully over to the camera to investigate, they are so beautiful 💞💕💞 Bunny is very friendly and loves cuddles, Beatrice, who was 'used' for intensive breeding, is still a little bit timid, but getting better all the time.
Have a great start to your week everyone, much better weather yesterday and this week......happy donkeys makes us all happy ;-) xxx

User

Lovely gentle Molly in the sunshine last week.....unlike yesterday when it was wall to wall rain all day!
Unbelievable Molly was abandoned and left to starve with her friend Annabelle on scrubland next to Gatwick airport. Such a beautiful kind girl. ❤️❤️❤️
Have a good 'Sun' day everyone, it looks like the rain may stop early afternoon ;-) xxx

User

Thank you to all our wonderful Flickaholic supporters for your lovely comments about dear Little Bertie yesterday, we read every one of them, thank you so much for your kind and caring words xxx We're keeping a close watch over Horace his best friend, who has been a little bit lost.
To bring us a donkey hug today is the kind and gentle Ebony, such a sweet soul to help aching hearts.....💔
... We hope you all have a good Saturday, the forecast does not look helpful at all - take care xxx

It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts we have to tell you that, after a short illness and numerous vet visits, we lost our gorgeous elderly gentleman Little Bertie yesterday. We have no words........

It's our tiny mini mule Tinkerbelle! Such a little sweetheart, very friendly, if you're in her paddock, she won't leave you alone...and who would want her to anyway!! ❤️❤️❤️
Tinkerbelle is tiny and does have ‘dwarfism’ which brings with it some congenital physical abnormalities, there are several different types of dwarfism – as well as very short legs, she has a misaligned jaw and her mouth is too small for her teeth, this has to be managed with regular dental checkups, her ...teeth initially needed a great deal of attention to make her more comfortable, she is absolutely fine and a very happy soul.
Have a terrific Thursday everyone xxx
Just another boring reminder that the centre will be closed the w/c 15th October for one week until Saturday 20th October - thank you ;-)
