A very Merry Christmas from all the staff ..... here’s a few of the old timers lol

User

great relaxing pub atmosphere, more than generous portions and great value for money. Can't wait to return.

User

We had steak which was tender and cooked to how we required perfectly. The customer service was excellent as always. We have tried most of the menu now and cannot fault it at all. Keep up your hard work and standards.

User

We ate here 4 times this week because the food was so good, very plentiful and very reasonably priced. I wanted to try a pudding on our last visit so opted to have a lighter meal....a mixed meat salad...omg there was enough beef, pork and turkey on my plate to have fed us all lol. We sat in the conservatory as we had a dog with us and managed to get the same table each time even on Sunday evening when it was very busy and we hadn't booked. They also do an amazing Kooparberg slush

User

We arrived at a busy period for a Sunday roast.the place had at least 60 cars in the car park. It was our first time here it was recommended to us. I thought the worst seeing all the cars, but went in got a table straight away, ordered up a Sunday roast from the vast choice on the menu. 15 mins later we were eating our well presented and large portion of Sunday lunch. All cooked to perfection. Will be going again great value and would recommend . Don't be put off by the amount of cars in the car park. This place can cope with the volume of people.

User

This place is a true gem. I dont understand the petty quibbles some people moan about. We have been to the foxhound inn at least 15 times over the last few years and we have never experienced any of the complaints that i read on this page. We have always had a good quality food and friendly staff . I know dozens of people who travel to eat at this pub and not one complaint. The pub is a 1st on our list in all aspects.

User

Second time in the area and have been here twice. Loved it! Massive portions, kids loved their burgers and homemade chips. Was really busy and the lady dealing with everyone coming in was run of her feet but was really friendly and helpful....hope her knees held out for the night! Bar really busy and not consistent as people were queue jumping. Would recommend going here though and hope to be back again.

User

User

An acquaintance of mine suggested this place to me when she knew we were coming to primrose valley we are now here for the third time this week and can highly recommend anyone to eat here the food is of high quality and plenty of food on each meal. We had the roast dinner and the meat tender roast beef filled the plate with loads of lovely veg the first visit. Then we had different meals the scampi and the steak pie both were delicious. Tonight we have just had the fish and chips which was also lovely. Can’t imagine anyone leaving hungry. We are planning to come back with the family next week. Well done to all the staff that we have met here all have been very good.

User

Amazing place. Visited yesterday (Sunday) I had the roast lamb dinner & it was incredible. Everything looked & tasted freshly cooked, huge plateful, 7 different veg plus roast & boiled potatoes & a Yorkshire pudding. Best gravy I've ever tasted ! My hubby had the 8oz Gammon & he said it was the nicest he'd had. Extremely reasonably priced too. Can't fault either the food or the staff. Highly recommend. We will definitely be returning very soon

User

nice food .. open sauces on display next to water for cleaning cloths .. and people walking past ect should be covered up !!! felt a bit rushed .. otherwise nice !

Visited the foxhound Inn today. Staff were helpful friendly and polite. When our meals arrived we were taken back by the sheer quantity, fabulous on an empty stomach. My issue was, I wasn't happy with the lamb I'd been served, there were grey lumps that reminded me of kidney, they tasted vile had a pungent smell and had a grainy texture. Rather than complain I decided to eat my veg and the gravy which was to die for, but my husband thought it best to bring this to the attention of the staff, just incase there was a problem. I did this discretely so as not to alert other patrons, and the matter was dealt with by an apology and an offer of something else. I didn't require anything else, i was full up and happy with what I had eaten. The plate was taken away and as far as I was concerned had been dealt with in a positive and satisfactory manner. But while paying at the till, ( I hadn't asked for a freebie nor expected one, paying the bill in full happily) I was then approached by an older female server who was not discrete and holding the plate of food I had returned, her tone wasn't so polite and she was loud! She said she had spoken to the chef and he reassured her the meat was fresh. I replied with that's fine but please taste it, conveniently she doesn't each much meat. Because of this further action I was embarrassed and felt humiliated. If the matter had been left alone after the offer and refusal of something else i would have rated this establishment a 5 star. But instead I can only give it a 2 due to one person's attitude. Yes she may only have been doing what the chef asked of her but she didn't need to be so loud as to bring attention and eyes from others. Did I need to be confronted again? Did the vile lamb need to be brought back to me? Was I expected to sit down and try and eat it again? I have no idea what this action was to prove or fix, it only made things worse...... I am a chef myself in an organisation that serves over a million meals daily... Our glorious NHS.. and no matter the circumstances I would never make a customer feel the way you made me feel today.

Took a potential business client for a lunch.. Where we both order mixed meat large Yorkshire pudding with gravy. When came they wasn't much gravy one the plates.. Clear you could tell they just made on portion to go around two.. Kindly asked for some more gravy. Which was received.. But only later to be charged with. Nobody knew was in charge.. Barman said speak to manger.. Manger said speak to bar man. (couldn't organise a piss up in brewery) came across very rude clearly can do attitude.. Not bothered.. They always busy.. Don't matter about trip advisor. We not botherd.. So hope a few people take notice and avoid. Was told it comes with gravy. Extra more.. I've had the meal several times before. And always been enough. The waiter/barman/women/manger.. Who dint know there tittle.. Also fancied them self as a bit of comedian also. Said.. The meal comes with gravy.. Like if you went to tescos you asked for bananas. You get bananas.. Not if you bought 9 pack.. And was only 6. In this case.. Good job Foxhounds don't sell bananas then. Gravy cost money. Bewildered me.. How on the knowledge of tescos.. They dint know.. You could get gravy for 40p. Which makes 9 pints. The extra charge was only 50p. They would of got more then that in a tip. If not been rude and skanky. Overall.. Avoid this place.. Just a posh mcdonalds.. With comfy seats. Under educated staff.. Then it might be your place.. Or and did I forget to mention.. The food was horrendous.. Turkey was dry.. (like it been out 2 days) the beef was like looked like cat food. (that got left) and they giant yorkshire pudding... Let's just say Aunt Bessie be turing in her grave!

What's to be said, been here a few times lovely food, however our last visit was not so good, sat down to eat only to have some other people sat close by talk about toilet habits they have, so we got up to move table, the staff in the pub wanted to know why we moved so we told them, this did not seem a problem as the pub was not that full and there were plenty of empty tables, so we was shown to another table, problem was it backed on very closely to another family eating, we wanted to sit alone at a table that was more private for us, we told them this bit was told we have to sit here, the other tables were not reserved, the staff got up in to my partners face not a good move really so we left feeling like we had been treated not in a manner we expected.

Now getting home we phoned the Foxhound to speak to the manager, who did say sorry and even knew of the family in question as there toilet talk and other talk had been called in to question before, if this is the case why was we treated in a manner that made us look foolish? sorry to say we will not return to Foxhounds

Ordered a garlic burger for it to come and be raw after waiting 45 mins for food ! Told the waitress who took the food away and said they would put it back on the grill, she then come back to tell me they would make me a new one, it came around 25 mins later by this time my partner had finished, tasted the burger and it was sour. Didn’t even eat the meal went to pay and said I wasn’t happy to pay for the burger due to the service to then be told they wasn’t providing me a service ?!? Correct me if I’m wrong but going out for food is receiving a service. I was then told they would call the police if I didn’t pay for the meal ! The place is an absolute shambles!

User

Absolutely appalled by the costumer service and the food. Food was burnt and meat was dry, absolutely disgusting. Was questioned and patronised when asked for a different meal. Received no apology. Decided to only get chips after that as I thought that would be a safe option, wrong again, received all of the scraggly old chips. After all this I expected a good will gesture and did not get anything to compensate, ruined a rare evening with family. I shall not be returning!
