Picture of Howard Winstone who had previously stayed at the Hotel for his world championship fight in 1965. Jack Solomons a famous boxing promoter at the time had offices in Brewer Street and he quite often put his boxers up at the Regent Palace. Joe Bugner stayed in 1970

Snow in London
From David Robinson On Sept 12 1970 My wife and I got married and then went to the Regent Palace for the Saturday night dinner dance, spent the night there and then the next day flew to Spain for our 2 week honeymoon. I am happy to say my wife and I are still together and in love today,. Sadly the church in Wallington Surrey where we got married is now a Sainsburys and the Regent Palace is gone too. I have happy memories of my wife and I donning full evening dress for special occasion visits to those Saturday night dinner dances, and regret those , to us, glamorous days of yore. We now live in Aiken S Carolina. but look back on those days and happy memories
Found this publicity shot taken at the time of the opening of the Stetson Saloon 1968/9
We had some clout in 1935 !!!
Why not try one of these cocktails this Christmas
Why not try one of these cocktails for Christmas I remember both Charlie Chiswell and Tim Fish ( Cumberland )
Why not try one of these cocktails for Christmas I just remember Charlie Chiswell and knew TIM FISH of the Cumberland when he ran The Nocturne Bar
I was in London last week and whilst walking up Sherwood Street and just past the old Staff annexe entrance was the entrance to the old STRAND HOTELS LTD offices, this sign must be very old because the Cumberland Hotel was run as a separate company ( see sign )until 1968 although part of the group. Furthermore the Palace Hotel Ltd refers to The Royal Palace Hotel hotel which was in Kensington and was sold in 1950. These offices were used by some of the Directors along with the Company Secretary and Accountants. Later the Strand Hotels Sales and Marketing function was based here. After the takeover by THF in 1978 they also used the space as offices. can't believe that the sign is still there must be at least 6O years old
stayed for a week in this beautiful hotel in November 1975
I stayed st the RPH only once, near Christmas 1995, not exactly its heyday I think, but the hotel made an indelible impression on me, and my memories of London.
