well after you have had a skin full, you can stay any where right, showers were sound, they got me wet and i smelt better ;-) the bar is cool and there was only university students there, well as far as I know anyway! book it and get on it, and camden is only like 10-15 mins away

great location with st pancras literally round the corner so can easily access the london underground network from there

Take a towel as they charge £5:50 for a towel thats one size fits all

also upgrade your breakfast for only £3 to a cooked breakfast

This was my first-ever hostel experience and I had a lot of anxiety with what I would be in for. However, Generator totally opened my eyes and I truly don't think I would ever travel any other way again. I found this location very safe with tons of security staff available, including the entrance all the time. The place was insanely clean and well kept - this would have been a deal breaker for me, but it was outstanding from the room to the washrooms to the common areas. It was all great.

I fell in love with the Romanian staff member working the restaurant/bar areas - he was incredibly warm and welcoming, and made me feel very comfortable as a solo traveller with nobody else to chat with. I loved hanging out in the lounge spaces and the bar. The food was also so terrific (my favourite was definitely the buttermilk chicken!!). The entire experience surpassed anything I could have ever expected from a hostel and the cheap price I paid. Thank you for making my first experience in London so great!

Such an amazing experience! A lot of people, very good amenities (strong wifi connection), wonderful location and was very clean! Will come back!

Might be a tiny bit more expensive than some hostels but more than worth it. Amazing staff, rooms and the bar is always open till 3am... what more could you want?

First time in a hostel wasn't expecting anything like this

Awesome hostel, nice staff og great food! Location is good if you wanna see London. I met some people that I'll never forget and will definitely come back next time I'm in The UK. GO GENERATORS!

User

Absolutely fabulous, I would definitely recommend it to any travellers out there needing a place to stay

This is a pretty cool place. Truly has everything you need.

What is missing is a quiet spot. Every common room has very loud music. Even the theater, so unless you are locked away in you room you will not have any quiet time.

This place is super clean, great staff, and a ton of fun.

I enjoyed most of my time here. The majority of the staff were really friendly and helpful, especially Nina in the cafe who is always smiling. My only problem was the hot and muggy bathrooms and rooms. Thank you for having me guys :)

Hip and clean, beds are of typical Hostel quality. Restaurant food is good and cheap. No outlets in the beds though! And only 6 outlets for 10 people doesn't work too well! The only Generator Hostel without bedside outlets!

Good location & close to Russell Squares tube station. A bit warm in our room during our first few nights with no AC which I think it is common in UK. Luckily, the weather gets better & the room gets cooler so we enjoyed the rest of our stay. At night, the hostel is adding Security to the entryway & guests won't be allowed to go in without presenting their room key card. This made us feel safe. Well priced accommodation & will highly recommend to others.

Clean and comfy. Didn't use all the facilities but some different areas to relax in. Music is loud at night but otherwise great location, comfort and price

The housekeeping staff were extremely unprofessional. My friend and I were in our rooms in just underwear most of the time as the rooms were quite steamy and had housekeeping walk in on numerous occasions without even knocking. Not once did they offer to leave so we could get changed quickly they continued what they were doing while we sat there uncomfortable. After the third time of this happening we decided to tell reception and all they could say was they're sorry and that they'd pass it onto housekeeping management.

Location is safe and secure. Room is basic to say the least, well it is a hostel. But, a room for two should have two chairs, not one. Toilets and showers were exceptionally clean and tidy - recently refurbished. Breakfast redefines the word "buffet": Watery juice, foul tasting coffee and a choice of cereal OR cereal bar OR croissant OR muffin. That's correct, only one food item qualifies as a buffet! Worst breakfast spread I have ever seen. Would I stay again? Maybe, but you could get a better deal elsewhere in London.

It was a last minute choice since we had to get out of a horrible hostel in London, this was much better though but one thing I didn't like is that you don't have space in the showers and you don't have it also for leaving your things there, besides of that everything was good and comfortable And I really liked that they have a common area just to lay and chill

the high reviews are a mystery to me. I have stayed in over 100 hostels in about 35 different countries and this is the worst. There has been no hot water for three days. There are no power sockets by the beds, the website claimed that there are personal reading lights, this is also not true. People who wake up early have to turn the lights on to see due to this. There is also a crack in the window causing me to feel ill and cold. The towel fee is 6 pounds so please bring your own. Also the sockets in common area take hours to get one charge. There was rarely toilet paper and the showers would get your towel wet. Just be warned that is is a corporate hostel but YHA and St Christopher's are better options. i expressed some concerns with front desk and they seemed to shrug off my concerns. This is not normal service in London. I have stayed in 5 different hostels in London and this is the worst and not the cheapest.

Worst hostel ever!!! The heating didn’t work.

The hostel was packed every day and very noisy and dirty.

The hostel receptionist is the rudest person I have ever met, I feel sorry for her. She really suffers in her job. She must be very unhappy.

And when leaving, she hired a taxi and said they would charge us 20 euros. But the taxi driver charged us 52 euros. More than double! And when we complained he literally said “Never trust Generator Hostel, they lie to customers. It’s just what they do. Every time.”

User

Very disappointing. I have stayed at Generator Venice & Amsterdam both were great but will never go back to London. I upgraded to a single room on the day on the phone but then found a cheaper price for the same room on the website. I called back and queried it, the honoured the price but then put the phone down whilst I was still speaking. Got there, looked grotty. Receptionist was nice. My room was down a rabbit-warren of gods-know where. I got there, felt like I was in prison. No towels and I didn't want to go all the way back to reception to get them. Wall covering was coming off. I felt very far away from safety. Couldn't wait to leave.
